“Very accommodating and understanding with travel delays. Dogs looked healthy and happy. Best part was she provided a complementary dog wash for the boys . Definitely recommend.”

“Amy & John took such good care of our two dogs, boarding them for nearly a week while we traveled. I was so appreciative and relieved they would consider us, as our young dog, River, is always curious and has a pretty strong prey drive. I wondered if he would be suited to life on their farm. Our other guy, Colton, is 15 and has significant arthritis. These two could not have more different needs at this point. Amy and John have a beautiful farm, two special rescued dogs, Bruno & Pork Chop, cattle, chickens, even emu. This would be a new experience for both our guys! Generally we spend a great deal of time with them off leash walking our family farms, but this would be a new property and boundaries without fencing. At our meet and greet it was clear Amy and John are special people. We admired them right away! They are very experienced, and were aptly methodical about the introduction of all the dogs and their other farm animals. Their confidence that this could work for all parties involved was reassuring. Amy and John went above and beyond, very kind to take our dogs a day earlier than planned with short notice, and welcomed our daughter, also new to them, who transported the dogs for us. They were excellent at communicating, sending us updates, pictures, and videos, even though we’d told them this was not necessary, as keeping up with River, his energy and curiosities, we knew could be a full time job in and of itself. But it gave us great peace of mind hearing early on that all was going well and there were no issues. Because of Amy & John’s care, patience, and diligence, after a full day with them we received the following, “..Bruno and River have become fast friends, running circles and playing hide and seek in the woods like wild things! We’re not using the leashes at all as we walk in the woods. River’s been absolutely perfect about coming back when we call him.” And I got the biggest kick out of, “I just got back from a walk with all four dogs, Pork Chop and Colton waddling behind me and River and Bruno having a blast playing chase.” Along with a picture Amy sent of River with his head poking through from behind her knees (as crazy as it sounds), something he humors only us with here at home, we KNEW both our guys felt comfortable, were happy and very much cared for. I could not imagine a more perfect scenario for our dogs. Now back at home, we can definitely sense they are missing Amy, John, Bruno, Pork Chop, and daily life on their farm. I’d love to arrange a play date to help with this, and I KNOW precisely what River and Colton’s reactions will be once we approach their farm. It’s clear this is a family that loves animals and cares so much for the well-being of all they have rescued and assumed responsibility for. They are kind, exceptional, hard-working individuals, and we feel so fortunate to have met them and to have our dogs cared for by them. This is who we will turn to any time we need care and boarding for our dogs!”

“Joaquin provided excellent care for my Grandog Uma. This was her first time sleepover and I was a bit nervous about it but Joaquin provided updates daily and always included photos. Uma will definitely be back. I think she misses him already.”

“Zydae was fantastic. She provided great communication and flexibility with our puppy. We decided to leave him one extra night instead of doing a late pickup and she was more than willing to accommodate. Her responses were quick. She sent a lot of pictures and videos to ensure our puppy was ok and comfortable. It was our first time using a service and she provided a great experience. We would definitely book her again.”

“5 Stars for a very good dog sitter, her love for dogs showed on how my 2 dogs was taken cared of .I appreciate her daily updates and pictures . I highly recommend her for she is very good in looking after Shorty and Jodi. I can’t thank her enough. I will definitely ask her services again.”

“My elderly dachshund loved cuddling with them, and I loved getting personalized text updates and pictures during time apart from my darling boy. Would def choose Scott and Ellen again. :)”
“Emily and William are GREAT sitters. Copper had the best time with them. They had a couple of other dogs while he was there and he made new friends with one of them. We got daily pictures and updates while he was with them. We will be using them again in the future!”

“I wish I could give Heather and John more than 5 stars! They took wonderful care of both my timid older dog and crazy puppy boarding for over a week, and sent lots of pictures and updates to calm my nerves about leaving the little guy for the first time. The dogs appeared at home and comfortable from the first day. Heather and John were also flexible about extending for a couple of extra days when weather changed our travel plans, saving the end of our trip. Highly recommend!”

“Ashleigh and Jason were amazing! My sweet Izzy was taken into their home like a member of their own family. It was her first stay with them and they made me feel at ease providing updates and sending pictures regularly. When I picked her up I could tell immediately that she was happy and so well loved and taken care of while I was away. Highly recommend Ashleigh and Jason, Izzy will be back with them in July for our next vacation!”

“Candice is a wonderful, caring person who knows dogs well. Our Katie would have just as well have been happy to continue her stay in Candice's loving home as to come home with us. We are very glad we were able to find Candice through Rover.com.”

“My dog Dakota loved staying with Tami! I was in town for the weekend for a family visit and I couldn’t keep Dakota with me during the time, but I still wanted her close to me. Tami texted me with updates and pictures every day and I could tell my dog was safe and comfortable with her. She did a really good job working with my dog and did everything to make Dakota feel at home. Will definitely use her in the future if I bring Dakota back and would highly recommend!”

“Tina is wonderful with Ruby! Ruby absolutely loves her and especially loves her chocolate Lab, Charlie. I really appreciate the care and attention Tina gives her and would definitely recommend her!”

“Our puppies had a great time with Africa! We’ve never left our dogs for this long (almost 2 weeks) but we knew they were in good hands. She communicated with us daily and wore them out with activity. We will definitely ask her to watch our dogs again in the future. Thank you Africa!!!”

“Cheri, Did a great job with Finn with a very last minute booking as the other pet sitter cancelled at the last minute because of medical issues. Finn came home very happy and Cheri kept me updated with pictures and information about Finn. I would use them again. Thanks, Cherie and family”

“So glad I found Bri - from the first visit, I knew I would feel 100% comfortable leaving my girls in her care while I'm out of town. She's fantastic, takes her role as caregiver very seriously, and I cannot say enough good things about how well she cares for my dogs. Can I leave more than 5 stars?!?”
“Kristal is great. She loves dogs as does her family. She took great care of my puppy. Sends updates every few hours. Has a fenced yard so the dogs can play. My dog left tired which was the goal. Her location is central so its not far. Very sweet person and responsible. My puppy had a great time”
Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Pleasant Hill
Kelly did a wonderful job taking care of Murphy. She kept us up to date each day on everything he was doing, including photos and videos, which we loved. It was clear to us she knows dogs. It was Murphy’s first time with Kelly, but we quickly learned he was in a good place. We intend to book again with Kelly for our next trip in 2026.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Pleasant Hill home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Pleasant Hill.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Pleasant Hill sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
