We were very nervous using Rover, but Erica put our mind at ease. She took great care of our house and two dogs. We got pictures of everything and she was great about coming before hand so I could meet her.

Rachel did a wonderful job taking care of our Alaskan Malamute and cat. She took the dog on walks daily, gave him a tone of attention, and I didn’t have to worry for a second while we were gone on vacation. Came back home to a clean house with laundry done. We will definitely be reaching out again when we are out of town.

We are so thankful to have found Anna Lee to watch our dog during our week long trip. We got plenty of updates where it was obvious he seemed happy, healthy and was definitely getting all of the belly rubs and attention he’s used to. We returned home to a very happy dog and our house well cared for! We look forward to having her stay with Jax again in the future!!!

About: For four years, I provided dependable care for my friend’s cat and bunny while she attended college in another city. I made sure they were fed on schedule, refreshed their water daily, cleaned litter boxes and living areas, monitored their health and behavior, gave them affection and attention, and ensured they felt safe and comfortable. I have taken care of animals ever since I started college and did it almost monthly for two years. I can do daily check ups after 4:15pm from Monday through Friday. I can do full day pet sitting on Saturday and Sunday when needed. I’m a person who’s job is to make sure everyone is safe and without doubt I will bring that when pet sitting. Safety is priority.

About: I won't just treat them as a "pet" I treat all animals as family. I have taken care of various dog and cats from family members and friends since I was a child. This included staying over, walking, feeding, training and playing. At the moment I am pursuing schooling for dog training so I have open availability for walks and drop ins! I usually ask for a days notice but it never hurts to ask. I have had experience with larger dogs (German shepherds, Great Pyerenese, Pitbulls and Saint Bernards) as well as small dogs (Chihuahua's, Shih Tzu and Dachshunds). I also provide baths and nail trimming when asked. I enjoy running too so if your looking to get your dog in shape! For pets coming to my house they must be crate trained (for when I sleep) and friendly with other dogs.

Allan takes very good care of TARS. He makes sure the guidance you place in his hands is taken care of to a T. He goes above and beyond to make sure if there is an issue it is resolved or that things are better than they were received. Couldn't have asked for a better sitter for TARS.

Emilyanne was fantastic during her recent pet sit for my Great Dane, Daisy Mae, in my home. She was very thorough leading up to the stay to make sure she had all the information needed to take care of Daisy in the very best way possible. During her time, she made sure Daisy was cared for and received daily exercise as requested. When I got home, my house was cleaner than when I left. I would absolutely book Emilyanne to watch Daisy Mae in the future.

About: My partner and I have taken care of dogs for many years. We have experience in training stubborn puppies. We know they are still learning manners and house etiquette, and have the patience to love them anyways. We love large dogs who love to cuddle, we love high energy dogs who love to run, and we love the tiny little ones who think they’re the biggest of all. All dogs from birth are called itty bitty little babies and will be loved unconditionally. No pup will be left without mandatory hugs and kisses. Since we have 2 Labradors of our own, we know that it’s important to keep them active. We have long walks every day, and we live within a mile of multiple parks where we can take them. We offer many toys and treats for quiet times, and we have minimum of 30 minute training sessions at least once a day. We believe in taking them outside many, many times a day. And nothing is better than outside play time.

Emily took good care of our 2 dogs and turtle while we were gone for an 8 day trip. Although I would have loved to have more updates and a bit more dog walks, our animals were well cared for and seemed very happy. She administered meds to my old dog as requested and brought in the mail. She seems to love animals and communicated very well.

About: Hello! My name is Patricia and I have been caring for pets for over twenty years. I had my own pup for 10 blissful years and he was my world, therefore I passionately understand the importance of proper care for the four-legged members of your family. Having no children or pets of my own allows me to focus 100% of my time on your pets, curating customized experiences, based on their individual needs. I am professional, reliable and have additional references to provide, if desired! I am a very active individual, usually covering 15 miles per day. I am centrally located in Spokane, and am willing to travel to you! I would be honored to give your pets a safe, fun and dependable experience while they are in my care. 100% available to craft a schedule that works best for each pet of yours in my care. Currently, this is my full-time job and I love it! Our home and yard are very pet-friendly. We have a six foot tall fence, completely enclosed to provide room to play, roam, relax while at the house.

FAQs for House Sitting - Plaza

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 598 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Plaza. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Plaza walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Plaza maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Plaza choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Plaza. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
