“Hadija was an amazing sitter! My dog is very afraid of thunderstorms and fireworks and Hadija made sure to comfort him and make him feel safe. She also provided a lot of updates and left our house in perfect condition. I would definitely book with her again!”

“My pup and I had a great experience! Liana took wonderful care of Marley and kept me updated throughout her stay. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing he was in such good hands. I would definitely book with her again!”

“Rwitika is simply outstanding in all respects whether caring, sense of responsibility, attitude, everything. We will look forward to contact her again as and when we need Brady’s care during our absence.”

About: I'm a pet-loving mother of four with three children in college—and enjoying the wonderful pets I have met through this site. I have lived in Scotch Plains for almost 15 years. I watch several dogs regularly on a private basis and am excited to be part of the Rover community. I grew up with a beloved menagerie that included three cats, two beloved dachshunds and a poodle and have enjoyed watching a variety of dogs, including a bulldog, a French bulldog, a Bernese, a labradoodle, and, of course, mixed breeds. I love walking and daily yoga and look forward to helping your pets get the fresh air, activity and affection they need when you are working or otherwise busy. I am a freelance writer with a flexible schedule and have time for walks and visits before or after work and at lunchtime. Having raised a family, I know how important it is to have a pet sitter who is mature and reliable and understands how deeply you love your pets--and am honored to assist you in keeping them happy and healthy. While I would love to help every pet, I am petite, so my ideal sized pets are under 50 pounds. I am a freelance writer with a flexible schedule and my own car. I rise early every day, and I am often available on weekends. I am often available at lunch time to clients who need their dogs walked mid day. I am a mature, reliable and organized mother of four and will treat your beloved and adorable pet like a member of my own family.
“We had such a great experience with Kayla. Our dog struggles with separation anxiety, but Kayla did such a great job to calm his nerves. She was very patient with him and went out of her way to do a meet and greet prior to the appointment. He had such a good time! Highly recommend.”

“Maria was definitely a 5 star cat sitter! She kept me informed with text messages and photos. I very much appreciated how clean she left my house and she even washed her own sheets! I would definitely hire her again.”

“Dulce is fantastic! We have booked with her multiple times - this visit being the longest overnight. She is patient with our two dogs and very attentive. I highly recommend Dulce!”

“Kim is a lifesaver. She watched our dog while we were out of state for a couple nights- providing plenty of updates and pictures. However, when our flight home was canceled, Kim was willing to stay an extra two nights. Much appreciated!”

“We are so thankful to have found Coral to watch our sweet boy while we were away internationally. She has a relaxed energy and was so responsive and responsible. We felt at ease with her in our home and will absolutely use her again!”

“Sara was amazing! She jumped right into action given it was a last min booking. She sent lots of pictures and videos and kept me informed on my baby through out the day. Definitely will be using Sara as long as she’s available.”

About: I am a reliable pet sitter. I have cared for multiple furry friends going back about 10 years. I have experience caring for both dogs (small, medium, and large) and cats. I primarily have hosted animals in my house, but I also have experience going to other houses to care for animals. I love animals and I can't wait to connect with you! I’m currently working part time, but I have ample time to take care of your pets. I work in the morning from 7-9 and in the afternoon from 2:30-6:30, but will always have family home to assist in caring for pets. I have a fenced in spacious yard for your furry friends to play in. I have a pet friendly home with plenty of room. My furniture, if your pets are allowed on, is comfy for animals.
“Irina is an awesome sitter! Came over a few days before our event to meet our dog; she asked great questions, wrote down my answers and got a long great with our dog. She walked her multiple times, played with her in the our yard, and sent lots of photos. She was flexible with the end time, as we were attending an event and were not sure of when it would end. Thanks so much Irina!”

About: I’ve been walking dogs since 2010 and honestly, animals have always been a big part of my life. I grew up with dogs, cats, and even birds, so I’m very comfortable around different animals and personalities. After being around pets for so long, I’ve gotten pretty good at reading their behavior and body language — sometimes even their facial expressions! I can usually tell when they’re nervous, excited, uncomfortable, or just want some space. I’m also very patient with animals and love teaching them new things. I’ve trained my own cats to sit, shake hands, and even fetch (yes, cats can fetch!). Every pet is different, so I always try to get to know them and follow their normal routine rather than expecting them to adjust to me. I work remotely every day and have a pretty flexible schedule, so your pet will have plenty of company throughout the day! I’m home most of the time and can easily accommodate walks, potty breaks, playtime, feeding, or just some extra attention and cuddles. Your pet won’t be left alone for long periods while staying with me. I have 3 cats of my own, but boarding cats will have their own separate space and will not need to interact with my cats. I only accept cats from one household at a time, so your cat(s) will get plenty of individual attention and won’t be around unfamiliar boarding pets. We live in a 2-bedroom apartment with no balcony or direct outdoor access, and I’m very careful about doors and escape prevention. Crating is completely up to you and what your cat is comfortable with — I’m happy to follow their normal routine. I’ve also volunteered at a cattery and have experience giving oral medications and providing basic medication-related care. Just let me know your cat’s routine, personality, and any special instructions, and I’ll follow them closely.
“Vinnie stayed at our place and watched over our dog + 2 cats. He is wonderful! He provided regular updates, gave our dog plenty of exercise + daily medication, and took great care with our apartment. He also went out of his way a day early just to pickup keys since we didn't have a spare set to give him at the meet and greet. He's very trustworthy and we highly recommend him!”

About: I work from home 5 days a week which will allow your dog to get constant attention and love. Having cared for my own dog I understand how difficult it is to leave with someone else. I currently work from home 5 days a week and will be able to attend to your dogs needs. I can take them out for plenty of potty breaks. Since I work from home your dog will get plenty of attention. I live in a very dog friendly community that is great for walks. I will always keep your dog on a secure leash whenever outdoors.
“Brittany was great to work with! She was communicative, arrived on time and was very responsible and engaging with my dogs. She sent us pictures during her visit and everyone was happy when we came home! We would definitely book pet sitting with Brittany again!”

“Connie did a great job taking care of our cat, Marvel, while we were away for one week. It was the first time Marvel was pet sat without her sister, Tasha, our dog who recently passed. Through this adjustment, Marvel certainly gave Connie a run for her money, but Connie made sure she was handled with care. We appreciated Connie's communication and commitment, and we hope to work with her again in the future. Thank you, Connie!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Plainfield
Angelica was very professional and communicative when watching our dog, Sadie while we were away. We were able to schedule a short meetup prior to booking to ensure she and Sadie got along well. I appreciated her attention to detail and updates about how Sadie was doing during the weekend. She was also very respectful of our house when sitting for us. I definitely plan on using her services again in the future!

Maria took care of my two dogs; Bo and Maddy while we went away for a long weekend. I cannot tell you how happy we are! Maria treated our pups like her own, showering them with love and sending photos and updates. Maria was trustworthy, reliable and caring. Maria put our mind at ease.. we already have plans to use Maria again!
Jesse took great care of our dog, Sunny, while we were away. He sent us photos and reassuring messages, which really put us at ease. Although he mentioned he recently started working as a dog sitter, he was clearly very experienced and confident with dogs. We felt Sunny was in very good hands and would absolutely ask him again in the future.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Plainfield walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Plainfield maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Plainfield choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Plainfield. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
