Lori was so fantastic to have in my home and she did an amazing job with my puppy! It was incredible to get some time to go to an appointment and run errands while knowing my puppy was safe and having a good time. Lori sent updates and photos so I wouldn't be worried. I highly recommend her and will definitely be using her again in the future!

Teresa did an amazing watching our two doggies while we were on vacation. She throughly asked questions about the pups and our home prior to the trip. She was communicative during the stay and sent lots of pictures! Our trip ended early and she was flexible with our change of plans. We had no concerns about our dogs and our home while we were gone. We are so grateful!!!

About: I have had dogs since I was little and love playing with them and taking care of them. I’m an athletic person so if the dog is in the mood to play, I can certainly be a great playmate! I have experience with dog sitting overnight, dog walking, and drop-in visits. I work at a nursing home, but I get to choose the shifts I pick up, so my schedule can be very flexible. I am looking for more pups to help out! I can provide overnight care at the owners home. While I am there, I make sure to take your dog for walks, play outside, and give lots of rubs and cuddles. As a person, I am very low maintenance, so you won’t have to provide hardly anything if come care for your pups overnight.

About: growing up with a family dog, i’ve always looked forward to our long walks. since i've moved to care for my grandma & i can’t have a pet at my current home, i’m looking to be the dedicated adventure buddy your pup deserves! i’m an avid walker who cleans up after your pet & loves exploring local parks and trails, and i’m just as comfortable handling a brisk, high-energy trek as i am a slow, 'sniff-heavy' stroll for seniors or four legged friends who love getting distracted! HOT WEATHER: for dog-friendly clients, i am able to provide outings to low stress trips to uncrowded, pet-friendly stores/facilities for stimulation and enrichment (including a potty break outside before and after, of course!) i am also happy to walk earlier/later in the day to avoid the heat as well! i also enjoy keeping pets company in home, whether its playing with toys, using lick mats, or just spending some time together! because i work evening and overnight shifts, i have guaranteed availability every morning and midday for your dog’s routine. whether you need a recurring daily walker or a same-day visit because you’re running late, i'm local and ready to jump in! my current job is closing in a few months, so i’ll be even more available for your schedule soon :) in public, i use a short-leash grip, stay hyper-aware of our surroundings without distractions like phones/technology of any kind (aside from photos, of course!), and avoid unknown dogs to keep your pup protected. i pride myself on being a trustworthy, punctual communicator, providing frequent photo updates so you’re always in the loop. i am very confident in my ability to kennel/leash pets & i consider myself well-versed in administering medication. i am keen when reading animal stress signals, ensuring your pet feels safe and understood under my care! as of early may, i am taking dog training certification courses to better my understanding and confidence in dog training :)

It was such a relief to have Aidan caring for my dogs at my house while I was gone on my 8 day vacation. My pups are 14 and 11 years old and have special dietary and medical needs and he was able to keep them well fed, medicated and happy! This was the first time in their whole lives that I didn't have friends or family available to watch them, but I didn't have to worry as Aidan sent pictures and kept me up to date on how things were going. If I am in this situation again Aidan will be the first person I reach out to!

About: I love animals but most of dogs because they keep me in a good mood. I make sure that dogs eat , get the right exercise, and got to the bathroom on time. I also own a dog of my own back my hometown. And we have a great relationship! I know what she wants just by her body language and her speaking to me lol kind of cute. Dogs are like humans. I love to play with dogs. Dogs give me a since of joy and calmness because I know when they are taken care of they trust me. I make sure that dogs retrieve the right nutrients that they will need as requested by the dogs owner. Dogs are my best friends. Safe!

About: My names Halie Sutton PLEASE READ IF YOURE WANTING TO HIRE FOR HOUSE SITTING. I do NOT stay over nights, I can come for 3 hours in the am, mid afternoon or evening. I will only do 6 hours total a day unless we discuss over wise. I have 3 children as to why I don't stay nights. Soon I'll have my yard set up for daycare/boarding! ☺️ I've been involved with animals since grade school and started my career with animals in 2015, I've managed 3 different boarding facilities. I've since then switched into the vet med field and am now doing pet home care. In between those, I've been a bather and groomer. I've also been a flight nanny for breeders and I'm USDA certified for animal transport. I've just moved here from Arizona and would like to go back to doing what I love. I'm very flexible with boarding, walking, and drop ins. I want to make this my main source of income, so I will make your pets stay priority. I would treat your animal how you would treat them and love them, and probably talk in goofy voices to them. I'm able to feed, walk, play, give meds, or just hang out. I do crafts with them during holidays for you to take home, and I can happily update you with pictures throughout my day with them. I'm very flexible I can stop by in the afternoons for a short while during the week and stay longer in the evenings. The weekends I'm very open. I'm very flexible with walking, and drop in visits, I am open to special requests for house sitting, but I won't do over nights due to the fact a have 3 children. About: My family has always had animals, and I've always loved taking care of them. Dogs, cats, birds, the whole nine yards. I've been around pure-breds, mutts, strays, elderly animals, young animals, a whole range, and I've always been very close with all of them. The most direct experience I've ever had was helping raise and train my mother's dog Ivan, a big American Bulldog with German Shepherd and Siberian Husky heritage, from near-birth to nine years old. Beyond that, I've helped care for my grandmother's many dogs, including Jasper, who is pictured in my profile picture. I'm currently on summer break between my Junior and Senior year of college, so I have plenty of time to care for animals at most points during the week. I generally like to keep Sundays and Mondays open, but I'm otherwise totally free to work. I'm a fairly relaxed pet owner myself, but I know when animals need to be taken seriously. As someone who helped raise a moderately antisocial 100 lbs. dog once, I know it's not all sunshine and rainbows. That being said, I'm more than loving and compassionate, and will do everything in my power to make sure your animals feel loved and cared for when I'm with them.

This was a last minute booking that Tara was quick to respond to and set up a meet/greet for. I was very nervous to leave the dogs as we just recently rescued one with severe trauma/fear and another one healing from a recent surgery and still getting used to having his new brother in the house. I knew they needed someone very attentive and knowledgeable—Tara was just that and beyond! We had a slight issue that we did not anticipate with our rescue doggie and Tara was quick to inform us and navigate the issue to ensure both our dogs were happy and healthy in her care!

FAQs for House Sitting - Peninsula

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 1,441 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Peninsula. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Peninsula walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Peninsula maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Peninsula choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Peninsula. On Rover:

  • 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
