Book this pet sitter! She is a dog whisperer!!! I can't say enough wonderful things about Mia. She stayed with my dog overnight for 4 days. My dog loved ❤️ her. Mia was also a great house guest in my home. Everything was very clean and tidy when I got back. She's a college student with lots of energy for your pet. I highly recommend her for the Lake Oconee area.

As first-time Rover users, we were initially nervous, but Taryn immediately set our minds at ease. She warmly suggested a meet-and-greet to ensure it was a good fit for us and our pets. While we were away, Taryn was excellent with communication, checking in upon arrival and sending regular photos and updates. Coming home was a delight; our house was spotless, our dogs were happy, fed, and well-exercised, and Taryn had even thoughtfully started a load of household linens in the wash. We have no doubt our animals adored her and received the very best care. We will absolutely be asking Taryn to return!

They were very kind and attentive to all of the care instructions for our three pups! All of our dogs loved them and seemed very happy and well cared for when we got home. They left our home nice and clean as well. Would definitely rebook with them :)

About: My family is a big dog family with two Great Danes I’m used to big more heavy set animals so I do not scare easy. I have a work from home job so I am well fit to give around the clock potty breaks and walks whenever it is needed. We have multiple cats in our household so I am used to regular feedings, treats, playtime and providing all the attention your pet may need!

About: I have loved dogs since I was a child and have had them all growing up. Professionally I have worked at a overnight dog boarding kennel for two years! I work Monday through Friday with autistic children but I’m available before and after work as well as the whole weekends to take care of your pups! I love to take care of dogs in their own home so that they will feel more safe and secure in the safety of their own space!

About: I have been around animals my whole life and I love them! I have a 4 year old kitty named Bunny and she is everything to me. My best friend has a mini Australian shepherd that is very friendly and I love being around him. I also have watched my brother and sister in law’s dogs for 2 years now. They ranged from having 4-8 dogs at different points and I would love to go stay with them, feed them, and get to play with their fluffy selves! I am working limited hours at this time, so I am available weekdays 8 a.m.- 2 p.m. and 5:45 p.m.- 9 p.m., and also weekends any time! I will monitor the animals needs and be there in any way I am needed. I will take them outside as much as directed, feed them, make sure they have water, and love on them!

About: I took care of my senior toy poodle until her dying days. She was 15, blind, and deaf, so i know how to care for different ability levels. I house trained my pomsky from being the tasmanian devil into a rambunctious pup who listens to me and responds to commands. I rescued my kitty after she was found in a dumpster and raised her into a healthy, energetic, highly food-motivated cat. I am patient, flexible, bring treats, and always make sure to put their safety and comfort first. No detail or request is too specific; no pet is too much to love or care for. I am located in both Athens, GA and the general Jacksonville, FL area. My location changes depending on the season! I can work from anywhere as long as I have my phone or computer with me so my availability is very flexible. My schedule is set to change in the fall with my classes. I prefer to take care of your pets in their natural environment. I will never bring my dog with me into their space; I want to make sure they know I am a trusted visitor in their space. I will meticulously follow whatever instructions I am given and will effectively communicate if anything goes sideways. I will also write a lil report on their activities and behavior for your comfort as their primary caretaker, when requested :).

About: What sets me apart is my genuine love for dogs and lifelong experience caring for them. I’ve been watching and caring for dogs since I was 10, and I treat every dog with patience, kindness, and the same love and attention I’d give my own. I am a nurse but only work 3 days a week, and I’d love to help out on my days off! I have weekends off :) I provide safe and attentive care for walks and drop-in visits. I always follow your dog’s routine, ensure secure entry and exits, and keep them on a safe leash at all times. I pay close attention to their behavior, energy levels, and comfort, making sure they feel happy, calm, and well cared for while you’re away. Your dog’s safety and peace of mind are my top priorities

Amanda was great with our girl! Our pup is a bit vocal and has a few quirks; like needing doors closed, a sound machine on when we’re out, and a special diet…but Amanda handled everything. Communication was easy and consistent, and we came home to a happy pup. It’s clear she really cared, and we’ve already booked her again.

About: I've been taking care of my friends and family's pets (as well as my own) since I was 15. I'm always the first person they call when they are going on vacation or if they simply won't be home for an extended period. Everyone knows I love animals, so it'll be easy for me to love your animals too! I'm currently a stay at home mom of 1 daughter (11 years old) and I'm looking for something fulfilling to keep me busy during the day. I have a fenced in back yard, 2 playful dogs that would give your fur baby some company, I am home 90% of the time, so they would never be lonely, I could bathe your pets upon request too!

About: Taking care of any type of dog fills me with joy, I give them a lot of love, trying to give back as much love as they give me. I am able to train them (basic commands), I fill them with love, I bathe them, and if the owners authorize me, we’ll have lots of play time in the park. My attention is 100% to them, and I am very very happy anytime I take care of a puppy Honestly I can at any time and moment. You just have to notify in advance please, that allows me to organize my schedule accordingly :) Most of the time I take care of the puppies in my house. I do have a dog of my own, but he is extremely friendly to other dogs and he is always ready to play (small breed)

About: I’ve grown up with animals and have always felt a deep love for them. My grandfather had a farm, so dogs, cats, chickens, horses, donkeys, and have loved every moment of being there. Now, my in-laws have a farm with 2 large breed dogs, goats, chickens and a mommy donkey and baby donkey which is my dream to have this as well! First thing in the morning I get my school aged girls breakfast going and the dogs and cats get their breakfast as well. The girls say their goodbyes and give loves before heading to school and the fur babies go in the backyard to play, use the potty and sunbathe or chill in the shade then back inside for some play, cuddles, or just hanging out. I really just go by what each fur baby’s preferences are. I’m a stay-at-home mom and this is my full-time job. So my day-to-day will be with your pet, loving them and caring for them just like or as close as I can to how you love and care for them. We have a large fenced in yard, but the dogs come and go in and out as they please. At bedtime they are in for the night and sleep in their crate or as we get more comfortable and see how they do on their bed or with the person they want to snuggle with that night. ***I do ask that pets are bathed before their arrival, just as a precaution for my pets, home and children. I deeply and sincerely appreciate the understanding in this request.***

About: Hi! My name is Iyah, and animals have always been a huge part of my life. While I am new to Rover, I'm not new to caring for fur-babies!! I have loved animals of all kinds since I arrived on this earth! I have hands-on experience caring for dogs of all sizes, ages, personalities, and energy levels through previous and current professional work experience at a dog and cat care/boarding business, along with caring for pets in my personal life as well. I’m comfortable with feeding routines, walks, playtime, basic grooming care, administering medications when needed, and making sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. I also understand that every dog is different, so I always try to pay attention to their personality, routines, boundaries, body language and needs. I have experience with dogs and cats of all ages, including anxious pets. I know how important it is to trust the person caring for your pet, so I always aim to provide reliable care, consistent communication, and lots of updates/photos for peace of mind. Whether your dog is energetic and playful or more shy and relaxed, I’ll make sure they receive patience, attention, love and genuine care. Your baby will be cared for and loved on as if they were my own. For me to be even more successful in what I do, I love all my clients to give me as much details about their babies as possible, I'm here to accommodate, support and make you and your pet-parent life as comfortable as possible. I can’t wait to meet you and your furry family members! 🐾 I work two jobs, but my schedules aren't consistent. I'm open to taking care of your babies whenever I am off and whenever I do have free time. I would prefer coming to your home to care for your babies as I do still stay with family who are not as dog crazy and loving as me.

FAQs for House Sitting - Penfield

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 322 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Penfield. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Penfield walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Penfield maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Penfield choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Penfield. On Rover:

  • 83% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
