Laura helped us out in a pinch. She’s prompt and took care of our high energy pup and made sure he got plenty of walks in. I appreciate her taking such good care of him while we were gone.

I couldn’t have asked for a better caretaker for my pets. Linda was wonderful, always updating me throughout the stay, sending pics and accommodating all my pets’ needs. She was an excellent houseguest and was so courteous. She really is one of a kind and my pets warmed up to her immediately. I have a feeling she spoiled them more than we do!!! She walked frequently and even let them sleep with her. Linda really made our trip away from home stress free since we knew our animals were in good hands. She was a blessing.

About: I’ve taken care of my pets and family and friends pets for the last 10 years. Everything from walking to feeding and bathing them. I have also been trusted to dog sit at their house for 5+ days before. I have had dogs and cats my entire life and couldn’t imagine my life without them. I have also had to deal with finding a trusting caregiver while gone and I will be that trusting and loving caregiver for you! I currently have an extremely open schedule. On days I do work I would be unavailable for no more than 5-6 hours during the day. When taking care of the pets in other homes I always make sure they are not left alone for extended periods of time and make time in my day to go hang out with them. I will keep them active and play with them but also give them plenty of loves!

Yet a again, MacKenzie met all our needs and was terrific when it came to our 80lbs bulldog/ 12lbs. Chihuahua. Mckenzie was responsive and gave updates throughout our vacation. In fact, Mckenzie went above and beyond by shoveling paths for the dogs to use the bathroom after a snow storm. Highly recommend A++

About: I've taken care of a dog and cat at home for the past 10 years, I've helped raise my brother's kitten, and cared for my sister's cat with medical needs. Additionally, I grew up around rabbits and more through my father's hobbies. This summer, I am taking online classes, part-time, leaving me with a completely open schedule - This means I'm able to sit, stay over, or pop by whenever! I'm unable to care for pets in my apartment due to my complex's rules, but I'm available to stop by or stay over with your pet!

About: I I have experience pet sitting for friends, family, and neighbors, caring for dogs and cats of different breeds and temperaments. My responsibilities have included daily walks, feeding, cleaning litter boxes, giving medications, and providing companionship. I understand how important routine and reassurance are when owners are away. I currently work from home. So my schedule is pretty flexible! Plenty of times to go on walks and playtime! With advanced notice I am very accommodating to meet your needs. I provide loving, reliable care whether pets stay in my home or I care for them in theirs. My top priorities are safety, trust, and maintaining a calm, comfortable environment. I always follow each pet’s routine closely — including feeding schedules, walks, potty breaks, playtime, and any special instructions — to help them feel secure and stress-free.

Complete peace of mind! Travis is clearly very passionate about his love and understanding of pets. He was incredibly consistent with check ins and very patient and loving with our two shepherd/malinois, one elderly and one young excited kiddo. Leading up to the scheduled sitting, Travis met with us twice, answered all our questions and also asked all the right questions. We were completely at ease during our vacation knowing Travis was caring for our boys. Thank you so so much Travis!!!

About: I am a lover of all living things. I prefer to scoop up bugs and spiders instead of smooshing them. I have great empathy towards dogs and cats. Us hoomans don’t deserve them. I’m ready to spoil yours! I do work in a busy doctors office Monday thru Friday 9-5, however I am available evenings, nights and weekends and excited to care for your furbabies. I lease a townhome in a townhome community. I do not have a fenced yard but have a yard and a great neighborhood to take them out for their potty breaks and a great walk.

This will be our last time with Megan -as she is moving away. She has been the best dog sitter for now 15 year old chihuahua over the last few years. As boy’s medical needs became more complicated, Megan took him on and did a fabulous job. We were so lucky to have her take care of King.

Mackenzie took great care of our dog Daisy while we were out of town. She kept us informed through messages and photos so we knew what was happening at home and it helped us relax and enjoy our time away. 😊 Daisy approved of her immediately upon meeting Mackenzie (the flop for belly scratches was the cue) and it was a great experience all around. The house was well taken care of as well - everything was clean and organized upon our return which was very kind! We will definitely book with Mackenzie again!!

Claire was an absolutely wonderful house sitter and took excellent care of our home and our four pets — Murphy, Jack, Milo, and Sophie. It was clear from the start how much she genuinely loved and cared for animals. Our two dogs were happy, relaxed, and well cared for, and our cats received just as much attention and affection. Claire kept us updated during her stay, with pictures and comments, and treated our home with respect, and gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. We came home to happy pets and a well-kept house. We would gladly welcome Claire back anytime and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and responsible house sitter.

Robert provided in-home sitting services for our 2 special needs rescue Wheatens. Our dogs require extreme patience, kindness and even some heavy lifting. One dog is not yet adjusted to her new life and is afraid of most everyone and everything. Robert was able to work with her and even get her to warm up to him so much more than we would have ever expected. The other dog is a ball of energy that needs to be watched closely. Robert handled both of these handfuls marvelously. This is the first time using Rover and doing in home sitting services and from day one of our trip it was clear Robert was up to the task making our worries, concerns and anxiety about leaving “the girls” unfounded and helped us be comfortable and relaxed about being gone.

FAQs for House Sitting - Papillion

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Papillion on Rover is $62.63 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 635 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Papillion. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Papillion walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Papillion maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Papillion choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Papillion. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
