“Katie was wonderful with our beagle who has separation anxiety! She was easy to work with and had great communication, sending us pics of our precious little guy while under her care. He seemed relaxed and excited to be dropped off with his “Aunt Katie”! Thanks for creating such a safe space for him, Katie! We’ll be back next winter!”

“Jackson was amazing! He was very patient with my booking despite my schedule changes. My dogs usually come back from boarding scared and full of pent-up energy, but with Jackson they came home happy and calm. He took them on walks and spent real one-on-one time with them. Highly recommend — I’ll be booking with him from now on!”

“It was an our first time leaving our 8 month old with a sitter and Sierra was awesome. Ayla came home happy and content. Would definitely use Sierra again when we are in town!”

“Brandon is an excellent caregiver for pets. He's responsive, reliable and most important. My dogs really liked him and felt comfortable and safe. Thank you so much we appreciate it.”

“Shayna was excellent!! She was so good with my two miniature schnauzers. They came back to me happy and tired ?? I will definitely use her again. Thank you so much Shayna ❤️❤️”

About: I am a lifelong animal lover with hands-on experience. I grew up on a ranch with dogs, horses, and an entire 'ark' of farm animals. I offer pet sitting in my own home. I can take more than one dog if they are from the same owner. I currently do not have pets so my time is entirely devoted to your pet. I also offer care for your home should you need someone to drop in to water plants, view property, and gather mail. Happy to meet you and your pup for introductory welcome. "I currently enjoy a fully flexible schedule, making me available whenever you need me most — including last minute requests, weekends, and holidays. Whether you need recurring visits or spontaneous coverage, I am ready and happy to help." "Your pet receives attentive, loving care in my home with regular walks and potty breaks. I follow your exact routines, schedules, and habits while adding an extra layer of love."
“Jennifer was an amazing dog sitter for Coco. Jennifer’s dog, Stella, was playful, and the two dogs got along wonderfully. It was great knowing Coco had a fun companion to play with. I can tell Jennifer was very attentive and made the whole experience easy and stress-free. I could tell Coco was well loved and cared for. I highly recommend Jennifer to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter!”

“Jill is an awesome dog sitter and great person! Our golden retriever pup loves staying with her, so my husband and I get time to go out and play golf! Hard to get our dog to leave her house at the end of the day. Jill is gentle with our dog , who loves to play and cuddle with Jill. I would highly recommend Jill to care for you per!❤️ She is a gem.”

About: I’ve been caring for dogs of all sizes since I was a young girl, and animals have always been a natural part of my life. I’ve rescued dogs throughout my adulthood and loved every breed, personality, and quirky soul that’s come my way. Even cats — despite my allergies — tend to walk right up to me, which always makes me smile. I’ll still care for them with love (and a little help from allergy meds). I’m an empath with a deep, intuitive connection to animals. Nervous, shy, senior, or sensitive pets usually relax around me quickly. I read their body language, respect their boundaries, and create a calm, predictable environment where they feel safe and understood. I also bring professional caregiving skills to my pet care. As a retired massage therapist and longtime caregiver, I can offer gentle pet massage, calming touch, and support for aging, compassionate end of life care and support or anxious dogs. I’m comfortable providing wound care, administering medications, and injections for diabetic animal when needed. What truly sets me apart is the combination of lifelong love of animals, my experience, intuition, and genuine compassion. Your pet will be cared for with patience, warmth, and the same steady presence I’ve brought to every animal I’ve loved. I create a calm, predictable environment where pets feel safe, understood, and cared for in my Home or Yours. I will respect your home, your space, your privacy and the trust you placed in me.
“Our big girl Bee had a fabulous vacation at the Brandon and Billy “resort!” This is the second time they have cared for Bee while we enjoy the tennis tournament and it hopefully won’t be the last. They are wonderful with her.”

About: I got my first pet when I was six years old. Since then, I have been taking care of dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, and fish for over 15 years. My friends, family, and neighbors rely on me to feed their pets, take them on walks, bathe them and even trim their nails, if needed. I love all pets and enjoy taking care of them as if they were my own. I can fit your schedule anytime with a week’s notice. For walks, mornings are more favorable due to weather conditions. For emergency care, one day advance would be preferred. I have a fenced yard where your dogs can play outside on the grass or they can enjoy indoor play with cool A/C. They’ll have their own room or they can be crated if needed.
“Tanya was AWESOME! We brought our dog Sophie to her home for two days of doggie daycare and Sophie had a blast. Her yard was huge and Tanya was very friendly and playful with Sophie.”

“Julie has been great with our dog. She is on time, keeps us updated with photos and texts. She is also very flexible if our schedule changes. I highly recommend her as a dog walker/sitter and will continue to use her for our pup.”

“Nancy was amazing!!! She came thru in a pinch after we had two dog sitting cancellations. We were able to enjoy our family vacation to Disneyland while getting the most fun pics of Caramel throughout the day. Caramel was so happy at each drop-off and pick-up. Thank you Nancy, for helping us out and taking care of our precious fur baby :)”

“We have a high-energy, 60lb rescue dog. He was nervous to go at first, but Lauren connected with our dog instantly. She was very responsive and knowledgeable. We chose her initially because of her experience with shelter pups and we're so happy we did. When we picked him up, she told us how they day went and gave us some training tips as well. We felt 100% comfortable leaving our pup in her hands and took him back multiple times.”

We are vacationing for 2 months in the Palm Desert area and needed to find a good dog sitter for our Labrador for a few days and a couple overnights. We found Tanya!! She is great with our dog (more on that) and even greater with us and our sporadic schedule. It has been so easy to schedule with Tanya. She has been very accommodating as we don’t always know what time we will get back to pick up our girl and Tanya has been very flexible. As for our dog’s experience, it’s clear she loves “getting to go” to Tanya’s. When we get out of the car, she runs to the door and wags her tail until Tanya opens the door. Then the fun begins!! Tanya has truly enhanced our vacation and our dog’s as well!!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Palm Desert commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
