“Really appreciate Jo’Ell!! She was so accommodating to my schedule of picking Rebel up when my flight got delayed! She sent pictures daily updating us on Rebel, and was very communicative while we were away. Definitely looking forward to booking with her again!!”
“This is the second time Linda has watched my pups and they always have a great time with her. She is very quick to respond & sends updates frequently. I will continue to use Linda to watch my pups whenever I can. They always come back happy and sleepy from all the playtime and walks. Thanks again! :)”

“Wayne was amazing! Kept me updated the entire time while I was away. My first time booking on Rover as I was referred by someone else. I would definitely rebook again in the future. I highly recommend him”

“I have never felt more at ease leaving my baby bentley in someone else's care. Kim went above and beyond to make sure my pet happy and safe while I was away. I appreciated the daily updates and pictures that were sent to me, it really made me feel connected to my pet even though I was far away. I will definitely be using their services again in the future and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy and loving pet sitter." Thank you so much kim”

“France’s was Awesome taking care of our Yeti. Sent daily photos and video. Having met her and her dog Happy in advance we knew our dogs would get along. We couldn’t be happier and have booked her again in a few weeks for a few days.”

About: I've been a dog owner the past decade and have cared for a dog collectively for 15 years total. I am highly observant of their behaviors, needs, health and different ways of communicating. I'm also a great communicator when it comes to responsiveness, sending daily photos and answering any questions. As a bonus, if you are flying out of town, we can provide a free parking space at our home and most likely drop you off and pick you up at either airport for a nominal additional fee to cover gas ($10 Midway, $20 O'Hare) to save you money on a ride share or taxi rate. I am early retired and my wife is typically home from her job as a physician at a nearby hospital before 5 pm. I typically walk our two dogs once a day + let them play in our 1000 sqft fenced dog run that's kept clean and covered in red cedar chips. We have two very friendly dogs and two friendly cats to keep yours company too and play with. We have crates on each level of our home and can even keep your dog isolated (if you want) in a separate room with closed door, while still receiving exercise, attention and proper care.
“We are so grateful to have found a trusted caregiver for Wiggles! Tamara is so incredibly nice and flexible when we had an unforeseen circumstance change our plans. Wiggles had such a good time playing with her friends, we were worried she was disappointed to come home! Thank you Tamara, Maggie, and Paulie!”

“Lauren has taken care of my dog Kylo, three times and I couldn't be happier with her care. Lauren is an amazing dog sitter and I always feel comfortable leaving Kylo with her. Since Kylo is diabetic it is especially important that he stays on his feeding schedule and receives his insulin injections on time, and Lauren is incredibly responsible and attentive to his needs. She provides multiple updates throughout the day, including pictures, detailed messages and even Wooftrax updates so I know how long his walks are. Kylo is very comfortable with her, and she does such a wonderful job of making him feel safe and cared for. I feel incredibly lucky to have found such a trustworthy and caring dog sitter for our baby. We truly appreciate everything Lauren does for our precious pup and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for reliable, compassionate, and attentive pet sitter.”

“I really want to say Big Thank You for taking care of my dog. This was first time for me to use dog sitter and I wa scared and unsure how this will work. And big Wow!!!! I received pictures every day and news about my dog. Lilliana was so nice from the beginning .I am very thankful for all that you did with my dog.Very very happy and I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR WORK.Thank you so much for everything Kasia”

“Nelli took care of Rowan during Thanksgiving and I couldn’t have asked for a better home for her to spend the holiday in! Nelli made sure to send me multiple pictures and videos each day and Rowan came home extremely happy!”

“Sarai took care of our 2 boys for a whole week. We were really glad we chose her to dog sit our babies. All week we received updates and pictures of our boys having a blast. They looked so happy and well taken care of. They enjoyed the huge backyard to run and play around. Her family is so welcoming and loving. There was always great communication and will definitely take my pups back to her to dog sit in the future. Overall a great experience !”

“Ethel has cared for our Luna multiple times over the last year and we cannot say enough about how awesome Ethel is. Luna comes home happily exhausted after her fun stays with Ethel and Ethel’s dog Tutsi. Ethel provides plenty of photo and text updates while on their walks and visits to the dog park. She’s responsive to messages, and she’s flexible and accommodating for dropoff and pickup. Ethel is so incredibly kind, and we always know Luna is in good hands with her. We’re so grateful to have found Ethel and you will be, too.”
“We were away for 2 nights. All good with Dawn. Very happy. My only critique is with Rover, regarding the fact that they don't require proof of current vaccinations and confirmation that pets are in good health upon arrival. That's a flaw and puts care providers at risk. Thanks Dawn”

“Susan is responsive and easy to communicate with. She took great care of our pup and sent many updates, photos, and videos throughout her stay. Susan has a nice fenced in yard, lots of toys for the pups, and a sweet and caring personality. Highly recommend!”

“I cannot recommend Bailey enough! I was out of the country for a week, with little to no signal, and Bailey still managed to keep me updated as much as she could. My dog, Leo, wasn't eating alot in the beginning and Bailey did everything she could to get him eat and gave him a bath or two after rolling he rolled in poop lol. It was my first time using Rover and I'm so glad I came across her profile! Also, it was a last minute booking and she was able to accept Leo. Thank you, Bailey, for taking care of Leo as if he was your own pup. I know he misses you! Will definitely be rebooking!”

“OMG, Kimberly is the best Rover sitter. Kimberly and the support of her family watched our dog Bronx for 9 days. This is the first time ever that we had to use a sitter, so naturally this was a little anxiety producing. Kimberly made us feel so comfortable at the Meet and Greet that we knew Bronx would be in great hands. While we were gone she sent daily pictures and updates as to how Bronx was doing. She also checked with us when she had a few questions about Bronx's care. We loved that. Kimberly adapted to Bronx's routines that we had previously discussed with her, making Bronx feel secure and loved. The pictures she sent spoke a thousand words, he had adopted a second family.”

“Deb was great with Stella! She sent daily updates (with pictures!) and let us know how Stella was doing which really set our minds at ease. This was our first time away from our girl. Deb knew that Stella is attached to us and made sure that Stella felt safe and comfortable with her. I would definitely recommend her and we will use her again!!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Palisades home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Palisades.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Palisades sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
