About: I grew up with dogs. I can groom, bathe, walk, and clean up throw up. I have been relied on by friends and family to let their dogs out and feed them while they are out of town. I am currently a college kid searching for an internship, so my days are wide open! I tend to go on walks during the day, so bringing along a furry friend would be great company. I will follow the directions given to me so your dog will be comfortable with a stranger entering their house. I am great with boundaries.

“Nate is hands down the BEST dog sitter I’ve ever had! 5 stars all around with communication, respectfulness, professionalism, compassion, friendliness. I would recommend him to anyone, and I will be using him from now on to dog sit! He put my mind at ease while away by sending frequent updates with pictures and I never once was anxious about being away from my fur babies. I can’t thank you enough for devoting your time and giving the best care to my babies!”

About: I grew up in a house that was always full of animals and kids, so chaotic and energetic animals do not phase me, and I can adapt well to whatever care plan is needed for your loved one. As an example of this, the last two dogs I cared for were very different personalities. I took care of an elderly 14-year-old Jack Russell, who was a bit blind so would nip on occasion, and needed spoon feeding and consistent potty breaks starting at 6am. Conversely, most recently I did a house-sitting stint for an owner of a rescued 5 yo Pitbull mix that needed almost constant attention and good tiring play. I have also housesat for many cat owners in the past few years of ranging personalities and needs; some needing some attention and play, others just needing food and water topped up, while another needed me to help her clean herself as she couldn't go to the toilet. I know that there are people with strict routines, and I understand that getting an external sitter or a walker can really mess with the structure you are trying to create. I want to help build that, not tear it down. I pride myself in being able to use positive reinforcement as an effective disciplinary method. I do not bribe or abuse the animals entrusted to my care. I work remotely, so I can be very flexible to the needs of you and your animals. Let me know if you have any questions :) I currently work part-time and remotely, so I can be totally flexible to your animal care needs. In the case of early mornings of 6am and earlier, I would prefer to have the animals stay here or I stay at the clients' residence. I live on the second floor in an apartment building where everyone owns a dog. Having animals stay with me is no problem at all, but there is no yard, so for dogs it would be exclusively dog walking/dog park if they were to stay here. I can be totally flexible in sitting at a clients' home.

About: I’ve always been a pet person- my dad is a veterinarian and we’ve lived with many dogs, cats and other animals throughout the years. I am well versed in caring for dogs of all sizes, as well as cats, reptiles, and backyard chickens. I am a very calm and patient person, and if your pet is on the shyer side, I will take as much time as they need to adjust to me. My schedule is fairly flexible, and I can usually stay with pets for several hours during the day. If I cannot stay for long periods of time, I aim to stop by at least 2-3 times per day to check on everything/let dogs out. When letting dogs out, I closely monitor them, and if the yard allows, I will give them plenty of outside time. If there is a suitable area near your home, I don’t mind driving dogs short distances for walks. My car is fairly small, so I will probably have a limit of 2 medium sized dogs that can fit in it.

“Lee was a fantastic caretaker for our 2 Labradors. One of our dogs is very shy and Lee took the time to connect with her. She was very dependable and was in constant communication with us about how they were doing. She stayed in our home and when we returned, Lee had taken the time to tidy up before we returned with some light cleaning. I would highly recommend Lee.”

“We had a wonderful experience with them! We really enjoyed meeting them beforehand and felt very comfortable having them care for our dogs. There were a couple of small communication details to work through at the beginning, but they were very resourceful and everything came together smoothly. They took our dogs on walks, kept them company, and gave them lots of attention. We came home to happy, well-cared-for pups and would absolutely have them watch our dogs again!”

About: I have experience with many different animal species thanks to my work at the zoo! Patience and respect are the two most important elements I've incorporated into any interaction I have with animals. I care for my own cats every day, and frequently help my friends and family with taking their dogs on walks and stopping in to check on them. Adding your pet to my routine would be as natural as heading to the store or grabbing coffee. I work as a bartender, so even on the days that I work, stopping by to check on a pup or walk them during your workday is easy. I've stayed at multiple homes to care for other people's dogs. A weimaraner, an ibizan, a couple boxer-shitzu mixes, some terrier mixes, and many more! Catering to the needs of each individual dog and home comes easily to me, and following instructions for securing pets or households is a top priority.

About: Hi! I’m a lifelong dog lover and proud dog mom to Baker, our 5-year-old adopted coonhound. He’s such a big part of my life that he even inspired me to write and publish a children’s book about him, Learning to Count with Baker the Dog! Having Baker has given me years of firsthand experience with the responsibility, attention, patience, and love that go into caring for a dog. My husband and I also regularly help care for our sister-in-law’s two dogs when she’s away, sometimes having them stay with us for several days at a time. We also love helping our friends by watching their dogs in our home when they need a sitter. I know how important it is to feel completely comfortable with the person caring for your pet. Whether your dog is staying with me, needs a walk, or just needs some extra attention and company, I’ll treat them with the same care and affection I give Baker. I’m happy to follow your dog’s normal routine, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medications, or other instructions you provide. I also understand that every dog has their own personality, and I’ll take the time to learn what makes yours feel comfortable and happy. You can expect dependable care, great communication, plenty of updates and photos, and lots of attention for your pup. I’d love to meet you and your dog and help give you peace of mind while you’re away! I work fully remote from home, which gives me a lot of flexibility throughout the day and makes pet care fit very naturally into my routine. I’m able to be present for regular walks, potty breaks, feeding times, playtime, and plenty of attention throughout the day rather than leaving a dog alone for long stretches. Because my schedule is flexible, I can also adjust around each dog’s normal routine and specific needs. Whether your pup is staying with me, needs a daytime visit, or just benefits from some extra company and attention, I’m able to make their care a consistent part of my day. When caring for pets in my home, I do my best to make them feel comfortable, safe, and part of the family. Since I work remotely, I’m able to be home with them throughout much of the day for regular potty breaks, walks, feeding, playtime, and plenty of attention. I also make sure to follow each pet’s normal routine as closely as possible and will learn about their personality, preferences, and any special instructions before their stay. Because we have our own dog, Baker, I prefer to do a meet-and-greet before boarding whenever possible so we can make sure the dogs are comfortable together. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I’m respectful of both their home and their pet’s established routine. I’ll follow all instructions for feeding, walks, medications, playtime, and any other care needs, while making sure their pet receives plenty of attention and companionship. For either type of care, communication is very important to me. I’m happy to provide regular updates and photos so you can feel confident that your pet is happy and well cared for while you’re away.

About: I have professional animal care experience of 4+ years working in a dog daycare/boarding facility and in pet stores where I cared for small mammals, reptiles, and fish. I've also had dogs and cats my whole life. New to cleveland area, looking to explore and earn on this side gig! I currently work as a bartender- almost exclusively at night, so my days are very open! The perfect fit for me would be jobs in the early afternoon. With love, kindness, and respect! Animals are living creatures and should be treated as such. That being said I'm aware certain animals will need specific care and would do whatever I could to comply with them :)

About: Ever since I was a young child I have been surrounded by and cared for pets of all kinds including dogs, cats, hamsters, Guinea pigs, and even some reptiles. I have experience caring for, and giving medicine to elderly dogs and can work with an animal if any size! I’m currently a full time college student, actress, and baker. I love animals and have been a pet parent my whole life. I am available all weekend and even some weekdays! I almost exclusively go off of the care instructions provided by the client, including any feeding, exercise, and medical instructions. In terms of walking I always care poo bags and water so that the pet is always taken care of!

Jordan was excellent with our two dogs, a senior-girl with hip issues and a 7-month old obsessed with endless fetch. Communication was good and we got regular updates throughout the week. The dogs were happy when we got home and the house was left in great condition as well. Would be happy to have Jordan here again!

FAQs for House Sitting - Orange

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Orange walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Orange maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

<b>Tip:</b> Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Orange choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .

sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
