“Michelle was the best Rover ever! She came with extensive experience with animals at the Humane Society, which is just what Spirit needed. Spirit was a rescue and although very well adjusted to her new home, having the most experienced and loving caretaker. At our meet and greet, Michelle asked about all of her needs, medical and how to play with her. She was an instant friend with organic buffalo treats on our meet and greet. In our week away we got daily updates with wonderful pictures of Spirit doing her favorite things from eating to playing with her favorite toys. The bubbles, the balls and her wand. About: I’ve lived with dogs since my first memory. I grew up on a farm, and we had 3-6 dogs at any given time. When I went to college, I adopted the first dog I would raise on my own -- he lived almost 15 happy years. I rescued another pup in my mid-thirties — he’s going on 7, and we’re best buds. So, I have experience taking care of puppies, seniors, and every age in between. My dogs and I have participated in puppy schools and worked 1:1 with excellent dog trainers -- in each case, I learned as much as my dog. I believe dogs just want to give love and get love back. This emotional reciprocation, along with adequate exercise and a healthy diet, makes for a happy, healthy dog. I believe every dog is good by nature, and, as humans, we have a responsibility to provide dogs with a nurturing environment in which they can be their good-natured, happy selves. I love connecting with a new dog, understanding its world and experience. With empathy from this connection, I find it easier to care for a dog and provide the type of love any particular dog needs and wants -- through daily routines, fun-hearted play, and plenty of attention. Ultimately, this leads to a more enjoyable relationship between human and canine. While I’m primarily a dog person, I grew up with lots of cats on the farm and have lived with and cared for cats here and there as an adult. I feel comfortable with cats and understand their needs. I understand the trust required to let someone else take care of your pet. My promise is to always be building and reinforcing my trustworthiness as a caregiver to animals and plants. I walk my dog every day. I understand some dogs need more than one walk per day, depending on their energy level. I also make sure my dog gets outside several times a day to enjoy the fresh air and relieve them. I will do the same for yours, based on your preferences. At this time, I work from home, so my availability for drop-ins or walks is very flexible. I am calm, gentle, and patient and aim to create an environment where the dogs I care for can feel and act the same. When walking, I like to keep dogs on a 6-foot leash (not a retractable leash) and keep the dog walking forward as opposed to stopping every few seconds. I consider myself the leader (not the dog) and intend to set a vibe where the dog understands they have a job to do -- walk!

About: I love all animals! I have experience with dogs, cats, cows, reptiles (mainly snakes), chickens, ducks, rodents (rats, mice, hamster), rabbits, sheep, goats, birds, etc! I love connecting with each animal in their unique ways, I truly believe we have a lot to learn from these compassionate beings. It's my pleasure to make them feel safe, loved, well fed and fully exercised! I am happy to offer extra services that include picking up or dropping off (you provide crate), giving medications orally or topically (I don't do injections), brushing fur, cleaning litter boxes, feeding your other animals, etc. Please don't hesitate to ask for more help, I'm here for you and your pet! I don't have a lot of experience with disabled or very old animals but I'm willing to learn what their specific and special needs are. I have had older dogs in my life so I do have a basic grasp on their needs but everyone is unique! I mostly work remote from home with the occasional pop into the warehouse once or twice a week. My schedule can be pretty flexible for the most part! I'll gladly learn the typical schedule you have with your pet so that they feel their care is secure and stable. Time of feeding, length of walk, treats, etc. Just let me know and I'll do my best to make you both feel considered and cared for. I'm not currently doing doggy day care or boarding. Eventually I will offer that service again! I might be open to it on a case by case basis.

About: I have cared for dogs since I was ten years old and I got my first puppy. After my college graduation I wanted another dog so bad but because of my travel for work I was always the one to just visit and baby sit my parents dogs for about the past 7 years. However, I'm changing careers now to be home more and have my very own puppy and luckily the chance to look after some other cute dogs as well! I live on a 7 acre property and have experience taking care of goats and chickens as well! I'm currently going back to school, mostly online so I have lots of time to drive to and play with your dog. On some days I do have to be at the SRJC in person but never for more than 4 hours at a time. I am an outdoorsy person and I love to go on long walks. I also have a SUV so if a walk in a park further away is desired I can easily transport them. I have a high energy puppy of my own that loves to play with other dogs big and small so he is always available to keep your dog company if they enjoy playing with others.

About: I work with a flexible schedule in West County, so am excited to be able to care for your beloved pets while you’re out of the house! I have been a dog dad before, uncle to many a wonderful pups, and know how to work with and make all types of doggos feel safe. I love to exercise, hike, run and would love to walk your dog as far as they want to go or run around with them for a bit. I have a car so I can get around to wherever you’re located, especially if needed for house sitting. I have experience with little pups and owned a big 60lb puppy. I’ve worked with and loved nervous dogs and built relationship with reactive dogs who need a bit more to of a watchful eye when on a walk or meeting others. I also speak Spanish and have cared for a dog that only speaks Spanish! Some weeks I’m working full time in person and some weeks I have a ton of flexibility at home! I would only take dog sitting gigs if I know I’m gonna be around with a flexible schedule:) I totally understand how vulnerable it can be to invite someone into your home and to care for a precious loved one (your sweet animal!). I’m incredibly neat and prioritize families returning to a home better than they found it. My work is with youth and in mental health- I am a trustworthy resource for you and your animal, and a great communicator while you’re away!
