About: I’ve had dogs my entire life and genuinely understand how important it is to trust the person caring for your pet. I’ve also bottle-fed a litter of puppies, which required constant attention, patience, and a strong sense of responsibility—something I bring to every pet I care for. I’m comfortable with dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, and temperaments, including shy or high-energy pets. I take the time to follow your pet’s routine closely so they feel safe, comfortable, and stress-free while you’re away. I prioritize clear communication and reliability, and I’m always happy to provide updates so you know your pet is in good hands. My goal is to make the experience as easy and worry-free as possible for both you and your pet. I aim to keep your pet’s routine as consistent as possible so they feel comfortable and secure. I typically provide care throughout the day, including feeding, walks, playtime, and regular potty breaks every 4–8 hours (or more frequently if needed and discussed in advance). I’m attentive to each pet’s individual needs, whether that means extra exercise, quiet companionship, or sticking closely to a specific schedule. I also provide regular updates and photos so you always know how your pet is doing. Because I travel locally, I prioritize nearby bookings to ensure I’m always on time and able to give your pet the attention they deserve. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I always follow your instructions closely, including feeding routines, medications (if needed), and any specific care requirements. I take the time to understand each pet’s behavior and boundaries to ensure they feel secure and stress-free. I’m respectful of your home and keep everything clean and in order while you’re away. I’m mindful of doors, gates, and surroundings to prevent any escapes or unsafe situations. I also prioritize clear communication and will keep you updated with messages and photos so you can feel confident that your pet is safe, happy, and well cared for.
“Betty was absolutely incredible and we feel so lucky to have found her. From getting to know our home and our pup’s personalities, to the sweet updates and thoughtfulness— we are so grateful to have come home to two tired and spoiled dogs. I can’t recommend her enough!”

“Kaitlyn was amazing! So grateful to have her watch Aspen and Ivy. They got to enjoy the park and many walks and snuggles. She sent pictures of their adventures and was a great communicator. Highly recommend!”

About: I have taken care of plenty of animals from a very young age. I’ve trained before and enjoyed seeing the progress that comes with. I am great with any age of dog and understand the difference in temperament! I am currently working a job as a barista and am a student at SLCC. My job is fairly flexible and doesn’t demand my full days. I do schooling online so it is easy for me to do homework anywhere. I am happy to take your dog on walks, play with them in the backyard, do trainings etc. Whatever your pet may need! I am familiar with crate training and am comfortable with it. I like to watch dogs in your home, because it gives them a sense of safety and comfort.
“Kelly stayed with our 2 Westies for a few nights over Thanksgiving. She was great! She sent frequent updates, was responsive to questions, treated the dogs & our home with care. We will definitely use her again!”

“Kirk took great care of our dogs and house while we were out of town. They seemed content upon our return and everything was in order. He communicated well and sent some pics during our trip. Would absolutely hire again!”

About: I've taken care of all sorts of pets for friends and family ever since I could drive myself. I've taken care of senior pets, special needs pets, and have had to give medication to pets who need it. Besides taking care of others' pets, I grew up having tons of dogs, and I currently take care of my three cats. I'm currently a college student, so my schedule will revolve around my classes. That being said, I try to allow myself plenty of time beyond classes, especially in mornings and evenings, and I will always have weekends free. Here's my current schedule (when I will not be available): Monday: 11-6 Tuesday: Free! Wednesday: 11-6 Thursday: Free! Friday: 10-2 Weekends: Free! I always go outside with a pet to make sure everything is okay (no gates are open, they don't eat anything bad, etc.). I've had a few walk-aggressive dogs growing up, so I know how to safely handle escalated situations on walks. Overall, I put safety above all else because pets are such big parts of our lives, so their safety is a must.
“Alayna was an incredible dog sitter. She checked in with us and was able to walk our dog and play with her throughout the day! Highly recommend to book with her!”

“Overall Madison did well and my dogs loved her. She was responsive and left my house super clean. We did have some hurdles but I appreciate Madison being communicative so we could troubleshoot as best we can. To be fair I do have three dogs, including one very young timid one, one that is chill but sometimes escapes, and one that is chill but currently has an ear infection and needed medication administered daily.”

“Sandi did a great job caring for Hank and Milo. She was very communicative and sent a lot of pics. I came home to a clean house and happy pups and I would definitely hire her again.”

“This was my first time using a service for dog sitting. I have a somewhat nervous Nelly of a dog when it comes to strangers. We booked Abigail for 5 nights in our home. Our dog is happy and healthy. I could not have asked for more.”

“Addison took really great care of our pets and our home. She was very communicative, sent pictures and updates, and I could tell our dogs needs were well-met. I would definitely recommend her for your pet or house sitting needs.”

“Stephanie was amazing with our elderly and injured dogs. She sent regular updates, prioritized their complicated medication systems, and quickly connected with them. She took such good care of them, I highly recommend her services!”

“Christina did a fantastic job watching Hank and Milo. She followed my instructions to a tee and I came back to a spotless house and very happy pups. I would definitely hire her again.”

About: I worked with doggies day care for about 2 years in college. Staying at clients houses watching their pets. It was awesome I learned great training skills and was able to walk tons of dogs! I was also a preschool teacher at this time as well and cpr certified. I’m an early riser I’m up around 6:30-7:00 and I take my border collie on her 2 mile walk. Every morning. I’m a master esthetician starting a business right now so any free time I’m at the spa with my own clients. I like late nights as well, but I’m very active so if you need a dog walker or someone to wear your high energy pup out I’m your girl! At my house I have a full fenced yard. However there is 4 large dogs here. A full house no doubt. I’d love to do at home visits or boarding at clients house not my own.
The median cost per night for house sitting in Oakdale is $45

Once again, Rachel did amazing caring for our 2 high energy dogs while we were away for the long weekend. She did excellent making sure our dog with a chronic illness was taken care of and supplied endless frisbee time for our other. I highly recommend Rachel!!

Kelly is an outstanding petsitter and homesitter: My wife and I get frequent updates and pictures letting us that our dogs and cats are doing well, which is a huge relief while we’re out of town! She also takes care of our house and leaves it clean for our arrival. Unquestionably Kelly is the best sitter we have had in the many years we have had pets!

Michael was so great and attentive to our two girls! He is very friendly and our two cats instantly felt comfortable with him! He gave us plenty of updates while we were away and was able to accommodate a couple of our date changes while away. We highly recommend Michael and look forward to working with him again!!

Ciarra was fantastic with my two very needy pups! (plus this helicopter dog mom) The dogs were super happy and well cared for with walks and snuggles. The house was clean and she even helped with outside clean up after a storm. I would 100% reccommend her and will absolutely be calling her again.
Meisha is our go-to sitter and always does SUCH an incredible job taking care of our babies! Most recently, she stayed at our apartment to watch our cat and pup for a few days while we were out of town. I always get the cutest photos and updates from Meisha, and you can really tell she spoils them like they are her own ☺️ Really can’t recommend her enough!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Oakdale walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Oakdale maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Oakdale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
