About: Hi! I’m Melissa (with Melissa's Pet & Home Care), a lifelong pet lover with experience caring for pets of all ages, sizes, personalities, and needs. But more than that- I know how important it is that you have a reliable, caring sitter for your fur babies & home while you're away. I previously cared for my own 90-lb dog who had allergies, chronic ear infections, high anxiety, and later bone cancer, so I’m very familiar with special-needs care, medications, and helping pets feel safe and comforted through anything. I’m patient with anxious or sensitive pets, and I understand how much they miss their humans when you’re away. <3 I’m happy to take active pups on long runs, go for slow sniff walks, or just offer cuddles and company. I’m also comfortable handling dogs that pull or never quite figured out leash manners. I’m not a trainer, but I can keep them safe and in hand. :) Just tell me what your pet needs, and I’ll follow their routine to keep them comfortable, happy, and cared for. Your pet gets my full attention, and I’ll keep you updated with messages and photos so you always know how your pet is doing. I do this full time, so I’m able to provide frequent walks, playtime, and check-ins. I make sure to communicate expectations clearly so each pet gets consistent attention and care. I never overbook myself, so your pet always gets plenty of one-on-one time. Safety and comfort come first. When I’m in a client’s home, I follow their exact routines and respect their space. I double-check that doors and gates are secure, can clean up after pets as needed, and make sure each pet feels safe while you’re away. I'll send plenty of updates and photos so you always know how things are going. And if you need a plant watered, a fish or small animal cared for, or some quick household chores taken care of, please just let me know! We can discuss pricing based on what you need. :)
“This was our first time leaving Maverick and Dixie with someone who wasn’t friends or family so we were super nervous. But we had to leave town last minute and could not take them with us. Caillyn got back to us quickly letting us know she could take them in and assured us our dogs would be okay while we were gone. She texted us that first night letting us know the dogs were adjusting well and just exploring. That small update helped me relax immensely. Caillyn reassured us each day our dogs were doing great and sent us pictures of them enjoying outside. We are so grateful we could leave our pups with her and know they were well loved. She made our first Rover experience a good one and we will definitely be using Caillyn again when needed. Thank you so much!”

“Katie was great! She kept in touch with pictures and text updates each day. She has a big backyard for plenty of playtime and running around, which I know my dog loved. Definitely will use Katie again!”

“Daniella did great. She gave us lots of updates and made sure our dog was well taken care of. We were late picking up our dog too and she was super understanding. Would recommend!”

“This was our first time to use Caleb. He took excellent care of Koshi and was very accommodating when our schedule changed. This was a great experience for booking we will use again.”

“My dogs were well cared for and enjoyed their stay with Jenny. She kept us updated regularly with pictures and texts of how they were doing. Very satisfied with the care they received.”

“Madeline took great care of our little guy while we left town for a week. He was happy and healthy when we returned. Madeline was flexible with drop off and pick up times and we really appreciate that.”

“Thanks for taking care of our boy while we were away! Champ loved staying and playing with your other dogs. All the pictures made us feel better about being away from our boy.”

“Trina was amazing!! My pups had the best time and were well taken care of! Trina was very responsive and send updates throughout their stay! I would absolutely recommend her and will be using her again in the future!”

“Lucas was great! He was accommodating, kind, and Mia seemed super happy to have Lucas’s dog as a friend ❤️Also had a backyard where the dogs could run in and out of the house. Thanks!”

“Thank you so much for taking such great care of Frankie! He came home absolutely tuckered out and exhausted, so I know he had a fantastic time playing and getting plenty of exercise. I really appreciate your great communication and care especiallysince this was a bit of a last minute booking. If the need arises, we will definitely be looking to book again!”

“Cash had a great time and didn't want to leave when I came to pick him up! Gabrielle gave plenty of updates during his stay and her dogs kept him very busy with constant play.”

“Yu very responsive to emails Daily pics, and/or videos Harley enjoyed his stay with Yu. There is a big fenced in backyard for Halrey, and Yu's 2 dogs to play in. My dog has been in the shelter several times, and I like that Harley was able to roam freely, and not spend a lot of time locked up in a kennel. Yu's home provides that, along with the benefit of only boarding one dog at a time. Yu was very responsive to any messages I sent, and sent daily messages, pics, and/or videos. When Harley needs a place to stay in the future, Yu will be my first choice.”

“Jeanie was absolutely wonderful. This is our first time using Rover and we are so thankful that it introduced us to Jeanie. We have never received so many photos and updates about our 2 dogs, it was amazing. Our dogs relaxed and sunbathed on her porch, played with the other dogs, and even got some snuggles. We cannot thank Jeanie enough for being available on such short notice and for the care she gave our 2 dogs. Jeanie is now our go-to for any future needs. Thank you!!!!”

“Really nice and caring sitter. Our flight got delayed and had to extend Bubble’s stay for an extra day. Hanna was really considerate about all this and took great care of Bubble.”

Jennifer took amazing care of Copper while we were out of town for a week. She sent multiple updates everyday that included pictures or videos and was very responsive to all communication. I could tell that Jennifer did her best to make sure Copper was comfortable while he was away from home. We will gladly book with Jennifer again in the future.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in TN ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
