About: I’ve had dogs since I was 5 years old, so caring for animals has been part of my life for 35 years. I currently have dogs of my own and am comfortable caring for dogs of different ages, sizes, breeds, and personalities. I’m also experienced with cats, birds, reptiles, and other small pets. I understand how important it is to have someone you can trust in your home and with your pets, and I’m happy to provide plenty of photos and updates while you’re away. Pet care is already a big part of my daily routine! I have four dogs of my own, and I walk all four every day. We also visit a nearby dog park a couple of times a week for extra exercise, play, and enrichment. I’m used to planning my day around walks, feeding schedules, potty breaks, playtime, and making sure everyone gets the attention they need. I have a flexible schedule, which allows me to accommodate drop-in visits and walks throughout the day. I know every pet has their own personality, routine, and comfort level, so I’ll follow your instructions closely and care for your pets the way they’re accustomed to. I take safety seriously on walks and during drop-in visits, including securely closing doors and gates and keeping dogs leashed whenever required. I’m comfortable with multiple-pet households and pets of different ages, sizes, and energy levels. I’ll also provide photos and updates so you can feel confident that your pets are safe, happy, and well cared for while you’re away.

About: Over the course of my time I've taken care of and lived with goldfish, parakeets, a big old mutt, several great cats...and chickens. Considering that I grew up in Manhattan, I'd say that if that doesn't account for exeptional qualifications to love and care for our furry (or scaly, or feathered) friends, I'm not sure what could! Our kids are off exploring the world as newly minted adults leaving my wife and I with two finicky cats. With a little extra time on my hands I thought it would be a good idea to help other pet owners out to work all day or preferably, gone on a much needed vacation but looking for someone to check in on their furry loved ones. I freelance from home as a designer, so I typically have time at both ends of the day to extend a helping hand to anyone who needs a little extra care for their pet. We have 2 cats at home of whom I am the primary caretaker of, so adding a visit to a neighbor in need would be easy. I will follow all instructions and care indications you give for your pet(s) to the letter and provide pictures of completion if you request it.

About: My first job was as a dog walker when I was 12! I have grown up with cats and dogs - caring for them from puppies/kittens through to their golden years. I have also dog/house sat for a large rescue + their several senior cats! My goal is to get to know each pet I interact with so that me and your pet can enjoy our time together. Furry friends are family and I treat them as such. I have also volunteered at 2 different rescues over the past several years helping care for cats as well as walk and play with dogs of all ages. I am currently finishing my last year of medical school so my schedule is not completely free. However, I do typically have evenings, weekends, and a random day off during the week! I'm a wildlife biologist, and I've spent most of my life taking care of animals — in a veterinary setting, on wildlife conservation projects, and growing up in my own home with my family pets. I work as a full-time biologist during the spring/summer, and will have open availability over the fall, winter, and spring to help with your pet care needs! I started out as a kennel technician at a veterinary hospital, where my days were cleaning dog kennels and cat cages, feeding and watering, walking dogs, giving oral and topical medications, holding animals for exams, and keeping daily records on everyone in our care. This job is where I learned how to understand an animal’s body language, and how to adjust my own to make sure they feel safe. Since then I've graduated from university and have worked as a field biologist for state and federal agencies, most recently monitoring endangered shorebirds at Jones Beach State Park here on Long Island. Along the way I provided daily care and feeding for state-owned horses in Oregon, and I've handled, banded, and released wild birds across four different groups — songbirds, raptors, waterfowl, and doves. If you have a bird and you get nervous about leaving them, let’s chat. I’d be happy to care for any feathered family members! At home I've kept lizards, snakes, birds, and aquariums of my own, so I'm comfortable with things like heat gradients and UVB, humidity, feeding schedules that aren't daily, and water parameters and filtration. Before the first visit I do a free meet-and-greet. I want to see where everything lives — food, leash, litter, carrier, cleaning supplies — and I write the routine down rather than trusting my memory: feeding times and amounts, medications, which treats are allowed, how your dog behaves on a walk, and anything that frightens them. I also want your vet's name and number and a backup contact before I'm ever in the house alone. The thing I'm most careful about is doors. I come and go deliberately, I know where every animal is before I open anything, and I never leave a door propped. Dogs stay leashed the entire time they're outside with me, with no off-leash exceptions unless you've asked for it specifically. I give Medication exactly as written, at the time you've specified, and I confirm each dose with you. I don't adjust a dose or skip one because an animal is being difficult — I'll message you instead. Following written protocols precisely is most of what my professional work has been, in a veterinary hospital and in the field, and I treat your instructions the same way. I pay attention and I report: appetite, water, litter box or bathroom habits, energy, and anything that looks off. If something seems wrong I'll contact you right away. If it looks like an emergency and I can't reach you, I'll get your pet to your vet or the nearest emergency clinic and keep calling. And I look after the house. I clean up after your pet and after myself, I keep your keys and door codes private, I don't bring anyone with me, and I leave the place better than I found it. You'll get photos and a short real update after every visit. I also welcome any feedback, as that helps me do a better job in the future!

I’m typically only out of the home for a few hours at a time, so your cat will never feel alone for long. I follow all feeding instructions carefully, clean the litter box once to twice daily, and administer any required medication right on schedule with patience and care. Playtime happens naturally throughout the day, at multiple moments when your cat feels engaged and ready. I send one photo in the morning, one in the afternoon, and a video in the evening—so you can feel connected to your cat and confident that they’re happy, relaxed, and well cared for. As part of my pet sitting service, I also include a general cleaning of your home so you can return to a fresh, spotless space. I believe coming home should feel peaceful and stress-free, so I take care to leave your apartment tidy, welcoming, and cared for, just like your pet!
