“She was great with our pups. One fairly energetic, but in need of calm because he was recovering from knee surgery, and the other a 17 year old diva who is mostly blind and mostly deaf. Will definitely book again.”

“Brooke did a wonderful job taking care of Beau. She sent frequent updates and photos so we knew that he was doing well. She was attentive to all of the instructions we left. We could tell Brooke did an amazing job watching Beau and that he was really happy! He was well taken care of, as was our house. We would absolutely recommend Brooke!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs all of my life, and grown up with them since the day I was born. I’ve never not had a dog, my childhood dog lived to be 16 years. I’m here to do what I love and be able to spend my time with all of your fur babies Im flexible I walk dogs while being able to finish school, I do this Monday through Friday and I’m looking to get more overnight sits for the weekends I care for every animal as if they are my own they will be as equally as spoiled as they would in their own home. The safety of your animal is not in question with me because I understand how much we worry about our animals when they aren’t able to be with us.
“Jessica did a great job watching our dog Maisie! Maisie seemed happy and healthy when we got home. Jessica left our house clean and sent us pictures to keep us updated on how Maisie was doing. Thank you, Jessica!”
About: What sets me apart is my background as a nurse and my lifelong experience caring for animals. I've been around pets since I was 4 years old and understand the importance of patience, consistency, and attention to detail. As a dog owner myself, I'm comfortable caring for puppies, active dogs, and senior pets. I'm reliable, safety-focused, and will treat your pet like family while providing updates and plenty of love and attention during every visit. Hi! I'm a nurse who loves spending my days off with animals. I've been caring for animals since I was 4 years old and have had dogs my entire life. Caring for others is a big part of who I am, and that extends to pets as well. I'm an early riser, enjoy routines, and understand how important consistency is for keeping pets happy and comfortable. I also love staying active through walking and working out, so I'm always happy to give dogs plenty of exercise, fresh air, and attention. Whether it's a leisurely neighborhood stroll or a more energetic walk, I'll make sure your pet gets the activity they need. My nursing schedule varies, which gives me flexibility and availability for drop-in visits throughout the week. Whether your pet needs a potty break, playtime, feeding, or just some extra love and attention while you're away, I'd be happy to help. I look forward to treating your pets like they're part of my own family! I will care for your pets as if they are my own. I'll keep them safe and fed in your house while making sure they get there exercise! I'm a huge walker!
“Chelsea was awesome with Waffle! She kept me updated with photos and messages, and it was clear Waffle was having a great time. Chelsea was easy to communicate with, reliable, and made me feel completely comfortable leaving Waffle in her care. I’d definitely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great sitter!”

About: - Have had multiple dogs since age 5 - have taken care of neighbors dogs since age 10 - Volunteered at a stables at 11 and then again at 13 - Taken care of my aunts dogs since I was 16-22 - Have been called on multiple cat sitting jobs just to play with the cat for a couple hours I am a freelance photographer, so my schedule is very random so I am available most days and can work my schedule around your schedule! My entire life I have always had an animal around, it just makes my day better! I spoil them big time and I would treat them like they were my own animal!
“Amazing care! We got so many pictures and a few videos throughout the 11 days and Hero was well taken care of. He has a habit of eating things he shouldn't and there was only one minor incident that we were told of right away (and thankfully hasn't caused any issues). We're looking forward to booking them again!”

“This was our very first time using Rover, and as extremely overprotective dog parents, we were definitely nervous. But Brad was absolutely amazing from start to finish. He eased our minds with daily updates, complete with photos and videos that showed just how well our dog was doing! We also had a Fi tracker on his collar and it was so reassuring to see how many walks and steps he was getting. Brad took him out so often, even more than our normal routine! Our dog occasionally gets so excited that he’ll throw up if he hasn’t eaten in a while, and when it happened, Brad immediately texted us, cleaned it up, and made sure he ate and drank after. His communication was quick, calm, and thoughtful, which helped us feel totally at ease. It was clear our dog was incredibly well cared for — he got plenty of walks, playtime with his toys, and lots of attention. Honestly, he looked sad when Brad left! Brad also left our home neat and spotless, which we really appreciated. We feel like we hit the jackpot with Brad. We couldn’t have asked for anyone better to take care of our fur baby, and we’d recommend him to absolutely anyone. We hope to book with him again!”

“Last minute trip and Erinn responded quickly. We were delayed getting home and she came back to take care of our animals . Very responsive. Communicates regularly. Will be using her again.”

“Ivy was very good with our senior dog Jack. She followed his care instructions carefully and updated me through the overnight stay with pictures and texts. She was very responsive to our texts during her stay and maintained communication. She is very polite and was respectful of our home and more importantly, very responsible in caring for our dog’s needs. She even walked Jack through the pouring rain! I would definitely recommend her to anyone in need of a dependable pet sitter!”

About: Where I live I’m not allowed to have any animals which is not a dream however, I get to live out my dream when I get to care and enjoy your animals while you are gone for the day or on trips! I work part time and I am a student. I like to keep the animals on the same timeline as you have them if I can. I will make the best accommodation I can! I enjoy playing and have fun while keeping the pet active. I try to keep everyone on their normal routine just with a spin of fun!
“If there were 10 stars ( 10 being the highest) , would get a 10. She was on time, provided updates, did the necessities and played with the pups. - and the place was clean. Would definitely book her again!”

“Antonia was the absolute best!! We were so happy with her watching our fur babies! She was so informative and kept us updated throughout her stay, which we really appreciated. We had never left our dogs with everyone and this being our first time was an absolute dream. She left our house neat, clean and was so conscientious!! Can't thank her enough!!!”

“Bree was amazing with Ludo and Bowie! Super communicative and sent lots of pictures while we were away for a long weekend. Left the house spotless and even ran the laundry. The pups obviously enjoyed their time and perked up when I mentioned Bree's name. Thank you! Will absolutely book again.”

“Tessa took care of two cats and two dogs. One of the cats required a pill every day and one of the dogs needed pills as well. One of the dogs was a senior and needed help with stairs. Tessa did a fantastic job with all of it. I have no fence so she had the added job of leashing and walking the dogs numerous times a day. I would not hesitate to employ and recommend her.”

About: I started my experience dog walking 2 years ago for a professor’s friend in Winchester, Virginia. Twice a week, I would walk her hyper pups. She then recommended me to her father, whose dog I began walking twice a week as well. From there, my mini business boomed through word of mouth. I began dog sitting in people’s homes as well for multiple individuals for varying time spans. Most of the dogs I interacted with were seniors and required extensive care. However, all dogs owners loved and recommended me to others! I still walk the original dogs and add in others as my schedule allows with two other jobs. I am sad to leave my extensive clientele in Winchester, but I am moving back to New Jersey for graduate school and excited to meet new puppy friends!! For the summertime, I am incredibly flexible with nothing planned. I prefer weekly walks / drop ins, but also like sitting as well. In August, I start physical therapy school at Columbia University so my availability will decrease but I’d be willing to provide services on nights / weekends. During breaks, my availability will open up again! Whenever walking / sitting, I respect the owner’s rules, no matter what. I long to maintain utmost cleanliness and adherence to routine as physically possible. I am also very communicative and honest, building trust with my clients.
About: I have been a veterinary technician for the last 19 years. I have spent the majority of that time working at a small animal practice, but also worked at an emergency and specialty practice for 4 years during that time as well. During my career, I have dealt with numerous c-sections, geriatric, diabetic, and renal patients. Meaning that, injections, SQ fluid, oral meds, etc, are not a problem.. I have also done pet sitting on the side for many years during this time as well. I have always had a love for animals. I currently own a 9 year old mixed breed dog, as well as a cat, and chinchilla. I have had many pocket pets over the years as well. I currently work full time, overnights only, on the front end of the week. I plan accordingly, to make sure the pets needs are met before and after work shift, and spoil them extra on the days I’m off. I adjust to whatever needs the pet requires, and make our schedules work in sync so that there are no issues with bathroom breaks, or feeding/medications.
About: I've always grown up surrounded by dogs, whether that was in my own household or around family. On my way to become a veterinarian, I continuously care for my own dogs, my neighbors dogs and spend my time volunteering at an animal shelter nearby, Father Johns, and ensure the health and safety of all ages of dogs. I am super excited to continue dog walking and care for your pets needs! I am currently a full time student at UD so classes may interfere but I am open to discussing times to care for your pet! Throughout my life, I've had years of experience with large dogs, senior dogs, puppies, etc. I have also had experience with many different behaviors of dogs and understand it can be hard to meet a fresh face. I will carefully comfort your pet, and introduce myself in a calm manner to ensure the safety of your pet and myself, so your pet can have a fun, relaxing time!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Newfoundland walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Newfoundland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Newfoundland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Newfoundland. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
