David was THE BEST!! I left my dog in David's care for two weeks and I never had a single moment of worry or doubt. He was a thoughtful, dedicated sitter who went above and beyond. My dog Charlie has trauma/aggression issues that make it hard for me to feel safe leaving him with a sitter, but David was extremely attentive and extremely careful. And when my dog got finicky with anxiety and didn't want to touch his meals, David went the extra mile with treats and enticements to keep him eating regularly. Charlie was in the best hands around. Highly recommended!!

I did not want to put my dogs in a kennel and was looking for a quiet home for the dogs to stay. Maria provided the perfect place for them. A quiet home on a dead end street where they were given long walks and personal attention during their stay. Maria provided video and pictures to us during their stay. I plan on using Maria again on our next vacation and would recommend her.

Theresa and Michael are wonderful cat sitters, true pet lovers who took care of Mr Soots for me in every way possible. From cuddles and love to pictures of Soots playing and being his cheeky self, I could see that my cat felt so at home and comfortable with Theresa and Michael right from day one. I would recommend their cat sitting services to anyone. Fantastic people and wonderful hosts for pets.

About: I’ve taken care of dogs my whole life, I have owned and cared for multiple breeds of dogs and cats, big and small, and been a pet sitter for friends and family on and off for the last 10 years. As a result of my experience as a pet parent and sitter I am very comfortable with most breeds. I also have limited experience training full grown dogs as well as puppies. I work from home full time as a software engineer, so I am available for walks as well as check-ins and house or pet sitting every day. Although I am working, I have very few meetings during the week and no set work schedule, so I can remain attentive and take plenty of walk and play breaks during the day. I am also available for boarding on a case by case basis. As I mentioned, although I am working during the day, I am able to remain attentive all day and have plenty of time to spare for walks and play breaks during the day. I am available to house or dog sit in your home as long as I can be provided with an acceptable internet connection. I am also able to dog sit at my home. I have a fenced in yard as well as a very friendly, calm and well behaved Cavapoo that will be happy to have a friend for the day if they are comfortable with other dogs. If they are not, It is not a problem to keep them separated.

For some reason, I was told my needed training to be around other dogs. Leah was the only sitter to give him a chance. We had a few meetings with Leah and other dogs before we left for vacation. Sam (my dog) did great! I got daily videos of him playing with his new friends and he came home exhausted! I will definitely be bringing Sam back to Leah even if for playdates with other dogs. She was absolutely awesome!

Tara was absolutely wonderful with Milo! She cared for him as if he were her own, sending lots of photos and thoughtful updates that kept us at ease while we were away. She took the time to understand his quirks, even letting him choose his favorite sleeping spot, and made sure he was happy and comfortable. Her warmth, attention to detail, and genuine care really stood out. We’re so grateful for the loving environment she provided and would trust her with Milo anytime!

About: I've been caring for dogs since middle school, including over 12 years of hands-on experience caring for my own dog, Aubrey. I've also had family, friends, and neighbors rely on me to walk, feed, groom, and care for their pets. Over the years, I've gained experience with dogs of many sizes, breeds, and personalities, including Golden Retrievers, mixed breeds, Yorkshire Terriers, hounds, Chihuahuas, and Corgis. I especially enjoy caring for senior pets and making sure they receive the patience, attention, and affection they deserve. I like spending quality time with them, grooming them, observing their behavior and how they're doing, and making sure they're comfortable and cared for. I've also expanded my experience through volunteer work with Rockland Orange Furrever Homes and the Hudson Valley SPCA, where I've worked with shelter animals and gained additional experience observing animal behavior and providing hands-on care. Whether your pet needs a good walk, a meal, some grooming, companionship, or simply someone who will give them plenty of love and attention, I want them to feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you're away. I currently have a flexible schedule, which gives me plenty of time to dedicate to pet care. I enjoy making time for walks, play, grooming, companionship, and simply getting to know each pet's personality and routine. I'm able to be flexible with my availability and want every pet in my care to feel comfortable, safe, and loved. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I focus on keeping them safe, comfortable, and following their normal routine as closely as possible. I make sure doors, gates, and other exits are secure, provide fresh water and meals according to the owner's instructions, and give pets plenty of attention and exercise. I also pay close attention to their behavior and overall condition so I can recognize anything unusual and communicate concerns to their owner. During walks, I use safe handling practices and stay aware of the pet's surroundings, other animals, and potential hazards. I want every pet to feel comfortable and cared for while their owner is away.

Thayla took care of our dog Foxy, while we were away on a 2 week trip. My family and I felt so comfortable leaving her with Thayla, because she is an extremely nice dog loving person who treated our dog like her own. She took our dog on 3 walks everyday, sent us pictures and updates everyday about the fun things they were doing. Will definitely leave Foxy with Thayla and her dogs next time we are going away again. Thank you ❤️ Camilla and Foxy

This was our first time using Rover for a dog sitter and I’m glad we found Patricia! She allowed us to meet her two days before our trip so our dog could get comfortable with her (this was our first time leaving him with someone else). She is a very kind person and we could tell immediately she loves dog sitting. Despite our dog shedding at the time, she allowed him to sleep in her bed as we do at home. She sent us daily picture and text updates which kept our minds at ease while on vacation. We highly recommend Patricia and plan on using her for all our future dog sitting needs.

Rebecca and her family did a wonderful job with our doggie Sebastian! She sent photos and updates almost daily and we love that she only takes 1 doggie at a time. This allowed Sebastian to get all the attention he would at home. We will definitely be booking with her again!

Tara is wonderful! We left Teddy with her for 2 weeks! Tara took good care of Teddy and made him feel so comfortable and loved that he was himself in no time at all and running her household (as Yorkshire Terriers often do)! Tara went above and beyond in making sure he ate and was happy! Tara kept us informed every day making us also feel comfortable. Totally recommend Tara to take care of your pet! Thank you Tara!!!

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Newburgh home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.

Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
