“We couldn’t be happier with the care our dog Gigi received! Gigi is a micro American Bulldog, and this was the second time she stayed with them. From the moment we dropped her off, we knew she was in great hands. They were attentive, communicative, and genuinely cared about making sure Gigi was comfortable, happy, and well cared for. We received updates and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. Gigi came home relaxed, healthy, and clearly loved during her stay. It’s not always easy to find someone you can fully trust with your pet, but they exceeded our expectations both times. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and professional dog sitter. Thank you again for taking such amazing care of Gigi—we will definitely be booking with you again! 🐾❤️”

“Jessie stayed with Tynesha and her family for four days. This was the first time she stayed with someone other than a family member. She sent me photos everyday and I could see that Jessie was happy and bring well taken care of. I will definitely use her again.”

“Amrit was amazing with Pepper. He was so sweet and attentive to her and sent me updates and pictures daily. It didn’t seem like a job for him- he genuinely enjoyed taking care of her. His house was clean and safe. I highly recommend him!!”

“Our Winston had a great day with Marlene! She was very attentive to him and had excellent communication before and during his stay. We are looking forward to having Winston stay with her again in the future!”

“Our dog Monster had a fantastic stay with Michelle. We felt very comfortable leaving him with her family for 9 days while we were away. She provided multiple updates throughout our trip, and it was easy to tell Monster was having a great time. Highly recommend!”
“Nadine & Tom were fantastic caretakers for our dog, Ellie. This was our first time using someone outside of family to watch her, so we were a bit nervous, but we couldn’t have been more thrilled with the experience. We were looking for someone warm and attentive who would give Ellie personalized care, and that’s exactly what we found with Nadine and Tom. Ellie can be anxious around other dogs, so it meant so much to us that she was able to stay with Nadine and Tom one-on-one. They truly made her feel comfortable and at home. We especially appreciated the daily photos and thoughtful updates, which gave us such peace of mind while we were away. We highly recommend Nadine & Tom and would absolutely book with them again.”

“Becky and family were such great pet sitters! They sent so many photos of my dog and I can tell from the photos that Juniper was in good hands. Excellent communicators. I would recommend them to anyone that wants their dog to feel comfortable while you are away.”

“Lucas and Katherine were phenomenal! They sent videos and pictures the entire time my baby was with them. You could tell they really love dogs and she was so happy to be with them. It was great to know that she was being well cared for and loved.”

“Starry and Gio were excellent communicators and flexible with a flight delay! They sent frequent updates about our dog and we knew she was well taken care of! highly recommend”

“Very happy with Foxy first visit. Just as anyone, I was concerned leaving my dog in a new home, specially mine that is a bit scared of things and people. Charlene was very helpful explaining how things were going, how the adaptation was evolving, sending pictures and notes. Overall, extremely happy and I will leave my dog with her for another 2 weeks, which should speak by itself.”

“Veronica was fantastic! As an outdoor cat, finding someone who could care for Juno, with safety as the first priority, but also allow her to retain her sense of freedom and independence was always going to be a tough ask. We found that with Veronica - would highly recommend! Very kind, sent us lots of photos and even got Juno some special treats and toys.”

“I have nothing but good things to say about Ms. Maisha. My dog loved her from the first drop off. She sent picture updates daily. I will definitely use her again in the future and highly recommend her.”

“We recently found Jackie after our previous Rover.com sitter retired. She took care of our 9 month old Golden for 2 weeks. I could not have been happier with the attention she gave our fur baby and how comfortable we became as the days went on. She gave us updates frequently thru out the day via text and videos. Very obvious how committed she is to her personal pets and her customers. Thanks Jackie!!”

“Lulu and I met Ji and there was an instantly connection. As she had never met Ji and was in a different environment, Lulu seemed content. Ji kept me updated on Lulu’s adjustment, which stated was going well. I truly appreciate Ji being able to take care of Lulu on such a short notice. Hopefully in the future if needs arrives Ji will be able to take care of Lulu again.”

“Stacia was attentive and catered to Taylor’s needs. Taylor was comfortable and Stacia’s home was neat and clean. She even washed her belongings before I picked her up. I would most definitely book her again.”

“Ilene was absolutely wonderful to my little maltipom , Daphney! Daph has never been left with a sitter before. She was not too thrill about it, but Ilene worked with her to ensure her comfort and Daph eventually began playing with the other pups and truly enjoyed herself. Thank you Ilene, we will be returning for another stay!”

Our dog Monster had a fantastic stay with Michelle. We felt very comfortable leaving him with her family for 9 days while we were away. She provided multiple updates throughout our trip, and it was easy to tell Monster was having a great time. Highly recommend!
Luis boarded my little dog, Daisy, for 2 nights last week. This was our first interaction so the four of us (Luis, his wife, Daisy and I) are in a "getting to know you" period. I reached out to him at one point to ask how things were going and he quickly responded "all is well." I was happy to receive AM and PM photos of Daisy both days. Even though she can't talk, it's reassuring to see a photo of one's pup sleeping or walking or eating. I anticipate developing an on-going relationship with Luis and have already booked a second visit next week. Dog owners who require a dog sitter can feel confident that their pup is in good, responsible hands with Luis.
Holly and DK have been great so far with our (sometimes needy) corgi Moose! Moose has been to daycare a few times and stayed overnight for a long weekend and he seems to enjoy and come home happy. Holly & DK are a lovely young couple who communicate quickly and thoroughly, are flexible about pick up/drop off times, and always send us a handful of cute pictures. We've also noticed they go above and beyond to return food bowls, kongs, and blankets back cleanly. We're happy we found them and look forward to having Moose stay with them in the future!

Amrit was absolutely fantastic! From the very first day, it was clear that our dog Gnocchi was in the best hands. He followed Gnocchi’s daily routine to a T, making sure every meal, walk, and quirk was handled exactly as we do at home. We loved receiving the daily updates and photos. It was reassuring to see how comfortable and happy Gnocchi was while we were away. Amrit and his daughter are genuinely caring and truly went above and beyond to make Gnocchi feel right at home.

As always, Linda and Doug have taken excellent care of Shadow. He loves going on walks and playing with the other dogs. While he doesn’t always eat his usual amount of food when he is away from home, they accommodate him and his quirky behavior when eating. Thanks!

Happy and relieved to have found our new go-to dog-sitter!! Ashley was so kind and loving toward our girl, Piper. She brought her into her home as if she was one of her own. She is very conscientious and has lots of little things in place to ensure your dog is comfortable and safe. I really appreciated all of the pictures and videos she sent so we could see that our girl was happy and loving life at Ashley’s house. We will definitely be using her for boarding going forward!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
