Pet care experience

Camp Pitney - Chatham, NJ

Camp Pitney hosts a wonderfully friendly, enthusiastic group of repeat campers (daycares and overnights) who enjoy the company of other dogs. We love to share our large lawn and woodland area by taking all the dogs out on-leash on our trails at least four times throughout the day and evening. Doug and Linda both are home full time and give each guest dog lots of attention. Our home is spacious and dog friendly. We are up at 6:30 each morning to walk our overnight guests, followed by breakfast about 7a. Dinner is about 6p. Linda worked in a kennel for several years (prior to a long corporate career) where she gained much experience in breed-specific dog behavior, care, baths, and administering vet-prescribed medication. Doug grew up with dogs, and we both have a lifetime of experience caring for our own beloved pets.

As always, Linda and Doug have taken excellent care of Shadow. He loves going on walks and playing with the other dogs. While he doesn’t always eat his usual amount of food when he is away from home, they accommodate him and his quirky behavior when eating. Thanks!

Safety, trust & environment

Safety is our top concern. Both our front and back doors are protected by gates, so when the door is opened to take a dog out or in, another dog cannot make a run for it. Also, we have four separate rooms, divided by separate gates in case we need to separate dog personalities, such as calm/gentle seniors from rambunctious young puppies.

A typical day

We spend a good deal of time outside on the trails, weather permitting. We walk the pups a minimum of four times a day but won’t linger outside if it’s frigid cold or raining. Indoors, we maintain a good variety of dog safe toys that are sanitized daily in the dishwasher and replaced when worn.
