“Liz stayed with our 2 dogs this weekend. She took incredible care of them and they ADORE her! Such peace of mind to know my pups are being loved on and not just in a kennel. She stayed in our home and the house was also well taken care of. She’s very trustworthy, communicative, and send us lots of pics of our fur babies!”

“Eric is first and foremost a very kind person. He is obviously a pet lover, and our dog Daisy enjoys being the beneficiary of his attention. In fact, this morning she was looking for him, and I had to convince her to eat her breakfast! Eric is also great at staying in touch. I never have to wonder how things are going as there are photos and notes to reassure me. I guess I am a helicopter pet mom, so this is great. If I had to go on an extended trip and leave my pup, Eric would be my first and perhaps only choice. If you want to travel with confidence, look no further.”

“Yhakerra was so attentive and extremely caring towards both my fur babies. It was not easy either because both my kitties are in separate spaces of the house due to one of them chasing the other and hissing/growling. However, Yhakerra did amazing and handled the separate feedings/litter cleanings like a pro. She also left the house very clean and immaculate. She was even so caring that she asked if she could carry the youngest baby, Luna to the bedroom and let her sleep in the bed, which of course I was so touched that she was so sweet to accommodate the well being of the babies. She had to move her litterbox and food bowls. I highly recommend Yhakerra and will be booking her again in the future. Thank you so much Yhakerra, I’m so thankful to have had you care for my babies.”

About: I have four grown independent children and had a chocolate lab while they were growing up…. Now live alone and am sharing my time with others I typically care for 1 pet at a time however, if I do receive another request, I will check with both owners to see if their pet would be OK having company and then would allow for two. I work part time locally, and can even bring your pet to the office, where there are a lot of friendly workers coming in and out throughout the day. Aside from that, I stay close to home while caring for your pet and never leave for more than a short while. your pet will get plenty of attention, and if they are up to it, I will socialize them with my friend’s pets and/or the dog park. I try my best to cater to each individual pet, per the instructions of the owner. I’d like to get to know their personalities and their likes/dislikes, and make sure that they are comfortable in my home.

About: I love animals, grew up with them since I was a baby, Cats, Dogs, Lizards, Fish, and Birds. I think to me they are people with fur. I love meeting new animals and getting to know them and play with and taking care of them. If I had tell you once thing that makes me who I am, is my heart. I always give 110 percent and I am very upbeat and caring. I am an award-winning filmmaker, writer, and actress, and this is the puurfect side hustle for me! I don’t have a typical 9-to-5 schedule, and my hours are always changing depending on which project I’m working on. This gives me the flexibility to provide loving care and attention to your kitty or dog when you need it most. I would prefer to come to your home so your pet can stay in their own familiar environment, where they feel safe, secure, and comfortable. I would always follow the instructions and routines you provide first. If you don’t have any specific instructions, I like to let the pet set the pace. With cats, I’ll give them space and let them come to me when they’re ready. I’ll feed them according to the schedule you recommend, and I’ll spend time getting to know their personality and seeing what they enjoy. If they want to play, I’ll play with them! If they prefer to relax, I’ll let them do their thing while keeping a watchful eye on them and making sure they’re happy and comfortable. For dogs, I’ll make sure they get plenty of exercise and attention. I’ll take them for walks and, when appropriate, we can visit a nearby park to help them burn off some energy. I’ll make sure they have fresh water and food, and I also enjoy working on fun training exercises and basic commands such as sit, down, and paw. This gives them a chance to exercise both their body and their mind. After some play and training, we’ll go for another walk to help them wind down and get ready for bedtime. And if you have me stay over to the next day I will work on a schedule you set forward. Depending on what type of dog breeds need different type of support.
“Christy was wonderful. She watched our dogs in our home and took them on nice walks everyday. She was great at communicating and sent us pictures frequently. My house was spotless when I returned. I highly recommend Christy and I will definitely use her again.”

“We had some last minute changes because I got sick and Brandon was super flexible and responsive. He’s great with our dog and our dog adores him. He takes him on long walks, very on top of food, water and medication. Took excellent care of the house as well.”

About: I’ve had dogs my entire life and have started watching other peoples dogs 5 years ago… I want to continue sharing my love for dogs and also my own two dogs Sophie and Millie. They are both. very friendly.. They loves meeting other dogs and having their company and play time I’m currently an undergrad student at Florida State university and I am home for the summer months. I take them for frequent walks. I live in a very dog friendly neighborhood. Can’t wait to meet!

About: I have experience caring for dogs through regularly dog sitting for my friends and their pets. I’m comfortable with walks, feeding, playtime, giving lots of attention, and making sure pets feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away. I genuinely love spending time with animals and treat every pet I care for like my own! I am currently working full time but I have weekends off, and sometimes a day or two during the week so weekends are best but feel free to reach out about weekday availability! I have a fenced-in backyard where dogs can safely enjoy some outdoor time and play. I also have a cat at home, so I’m comfortable caring for pets and making sure everyone has a safe, calm, and comfortable environment. I always follow each pet’s individual routine and give them plenty of attention, playtime, and love.
“Ellie watched our two dogs for the day. She was great! Very responsive, kind, arrived on time, sent us photos cuddling with our pets and sent updates throughout the stay. I would highly recommend!”

About: In addition to having my own family dog, I grew up taking care of other family & neighbors’ pets. This included regular walks, feeding, and overnight care. I’ve now been doing Rover for the last 6 years, taking care of dozens of dogs and cats, most of which return for recurring care — from drops ins to daycare and week+ long overnight stays. I work from home full time, so I can spend time with and be available for pets throughout the entire day. I have a very flexible schedule that allows me to stay with pets all day or drop in as needed. I’m a very attentive pet lover - always playing with/petting them. Odds are I’ll pay more attention to them than my job during work hours.

“Julia was a perfect fit for our dog. He was healthy and happy when we came home - she was spot on giving him all his medications. She even got him outside to see some old friends ;-).”

“Flower did a great job house sitting and caring for Willie and Molly for 5 days, she sent photos and videos daily. They played and had meals and snuggles and treats. My dogs love her.”

I am experienced with dogs, cats, guinea pigs and other small creatures! I view all pets as family members. I live in NY and looking for a house sitting gig during my trip to Arizona during this spring break. My schedule is flexible - I am planning to take our four legged friends on lots of adventures outdoors. I work from home and my schedule is flexible so I spend most time with our furry clients.I can’t wait to go on a walk or play with my furry clients! We are happy to come to your home or board your pets in our home. We don't have a fenced in yard but we frequent the dog park and the park near-by. In my day job I regularly work with NYPD, the court system and other federal and state agencies - therefore I have a high level security clearance.
“Becky was absolutely amazing with our 10-year-old dog while we were away for a week. She gave our dog her medication reliably and sent us frequent updates and photos. This was our first time leaving Nala with someone who was not our family or friends but Becky took care of our girl like family. On top of that, she went above and beyond by caring for our home and helping with things like bringing in our packages while away. We came back to a happy, healthy pup and a clean home—couldn’t recommend her more!”

About: Hi! My name is Christina. I grew up having a Siberian Husky named Tonya and later a Bichon Frise named Daquiri. Pets have always been a part of my life. In my early 20's I took an incentive to relocate down south where I adopted Franky, a pitbull/husky mix puppy. Anyone who knows me knows that my world revolved around my dog. If my dog couldn't come, I wasn't going. 'You won't ever see Chris without that dog, who brings a dog to a hair appointment?" Yup.. that's me. Franky had such an impact on my life that she even was responsible for steering my career. Formerly regional leadership for Banfield Pet Hospital I was responsible for Learning and Development for the largest veterinary practice in the world with over 900 hospitals in 51 markets. (Annnd... Yes, my dog got to come to work with me!) My best friends and former colleagues range from medical directors within the veterinary field to Brandon Mcmillan from CBS Lucky Dog (animal trainer). There's no shortage of emergency contacts in my phone to reach out to which came in handy when Franky, my 17yr old Pitbull/Husky was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Almost 9 months ago now I made the heart wrenching decision to have Lap of Love come to my home and end Franky's suffering when it was clear she was losing her battle with cancer. It's bringing tears to my eyes now and I don't want to be the most depressing profile which leads me to you. While i'm not quite ready for another dog of my own as no one can replace Franky, I get so much enjoyment from being around animals that watching other peoples' pets has been healing and a source of comfort. I think it's safe to say I was a little over protective and needed my own pet sitter when traveling to and from headquarters in Portland, Oregon. At the time, Deb was a God send and I was so grateful to have found someone who understood me and my pet and I hope that I can be that to you and yours! I'm excited to meet you both! After leaving Banfield as a result of increased travel I went into business for myself. I currently only work from home and no more than a couple days a week. As you can imagine it can get lonely and I look forward to having your pet come stay with me. I try to stay active and walk daily to a nearby hiking trail. It's a good walk it takes about an hour and there is a dog park within the trail which is nice for dogs who get along well with others and are healthy enough to participate. Even when they don't get along with others sometimes if you go in the evening closer to dusk the park is empty and its nice to play fetch within the fenced in area. I live in an apartment but don't allow that to fool you, we have a huge courtyard and as I mentioned there is a hiking trail and dog park nearby to keep busy.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - New City
Kerra stayed at our house for 10 days and nights. She was communicative, clean, and took good care of our quirky dog and cat. We have never left them at home for that long, and it was great to have someone experienced with pet care to ease our anxieties. We highly recommend Kerra!

Flower is THE pet sitter you are looking for! I have a new rescue who doesn't usually even let anyone in the house. I was very apprehensive about trying to get a way for a few days. Flower knew just how to get him to trust her when we did a meet and greet. I was shocked! When she arrived for her stay with him, he greeted her like a long lost friend. Flower is very conscientious. She followed my ridiculously detailed instructions precisely; asked thoughtful questions and is a pleasure to work with. I returned to a very happy pup and a home the way I left it. I couldn't recommend her more highly. Treat yourself (and your pet) to a carefree vacation.

Eric was an amazing sitter for Luna! We received daily updates of videos and pictures. It was the first time she wasn’t being taken care of by immediate family. Our girl is a fussy little eater but Eric was generously patient with our feeding requirement which needed boiled chicken on the daily. He walked and gave her all the play time she wanted. She got even more spoiled! He even ran out and got her extra Greenies and wet food when her supply ran out! We will definitely be asking Eric to watch her again when we can’t bring her with us. What a relief all around that we found such a great sitter!!

Maria was one of the best sitters I've ever had! She was knowledgeable about how to care for senior dogs and took exceptional care of my senior dog, who requires a bit more attention. She followed all care instructions carefully and made sure my dog was comfortable, safe, and happy the entire time. On top of that, she kept my home incredibly neat and tidy and respected my home. It gave me real peace of mind knowing both my dog and my home were in such good hands. I highly recommend Maria to anyone looking for a reliable, thoughtful, and truly caring dog sitter.

We were so fortunate to have had Ivan watch our puppy for a weekend! We learned so much from Ivan’s expertise as he generously shared so much training knowledge with us. He took excellent care of our puppy, took him on many adventures, and we came home to the happiest dog! Would highly recommend any of his services to others.

As of September 2026, there are 18,069 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across New City. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred New City walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in New City maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in New City choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in New City. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
