About: I’ve had dogs my entire life and have started watching other peoples dogs 5 years ago… I want to continue sharing my love for dogs and also my own two dogs Sophie and Millie. They are both. very friendly.. They loves meeting other dogs and having their company and play time I’m currently an undergrad student at Florida State university and I am home for the summer months. I take them for frequent walks. I live in a very dog friendly neighborhood. Can’t wait to meet!
About: I’ve been house sitting/pet sitting since I was around 17 years old. I have experience with puppies and senior dogs. I’ve watched dogs, cats, turtles, lizards, fish and more. I’m familiar with pee pads, crate training and dog diapers. I will always treat your animal with respect and kindness, showing them so much love while you are away. I’m currently not working so I would have plenty of time to be with your furbaby. I do volunteer work during the week but I would still have plenty of time to care and be with your animal. I can walk, play, snuggle, crate train and prepare meals for your animals. You just tell me what the preferred routine is and I’ll do my best to match that so your animal feels safe and loved.
“Yhakerra was a wonderful dog sitter!! So happy with everything. The dogs were very happy when I returned home and our place was clean and tidy as well. She sent photos and videos, communicated daily, and did so many things above and beyond expectations for their care. I will definitely hire her again for future care.”

“Eric was wonderful. I have an old ragdoll cat; he took great care of her - feeding, medication, grooming, cleaning her myriad litter boxes - for the two weeks I was gone. It gave me peace of mind to have him in the house. I am so glad I found him - I will definitely use his services next time I travel.”

“Christy was an amazing dog sitter! She provided regular updates and made me feel completely at ease while I was away. One of my dogs has diabetes and needs insulin twice a day; Christy was able to administer the insulin no problem. I knew my dogs were happy and well cared for with Christy. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and compassionate dog sitter!”

About: I’ve had dogs my whole life but currently where I live I can’t have one. Having an opportunity to love and care for another dog is the next best thing. I’m a mom and my daughter shares the same love for dogs because she’s seen it on my face. I cater to dogs because I love making them happy ! I’m great with walking them and playing fetch or what ever games they play. I have high patients and never rush dogs on their walks or playing times. I have no problems feeding dogs and bathing them if necessary. I am one of the biggest dog lovers and have never had a problem caring for them. I will promise that your dog will me very taken care of !
“Ellie watched our two dogs for the day. She was great! Very responsive, kind, arrived on time, sent us photos cuddling with our pets and sent updates throughout the stay. I would highly recommend!”

About: I have taken care of two golden retrievers of my own. I have experience working with puppies as well as larger sized dogs. I love playing with dogs and making sure their needs are met. I’m currently working at a school and will have more availability this summer to take additional clients. I am available in the afternoon and evenings. I thrive off of detailed explanation from pet parents on how to make their fur babies more comfortable while their parents are away. I make sure to leave everything clean and tidy after my service is complete.
“David did an outstanding job watching our dog, Trixie. He walked her often during the day, and had her out early in the morning and well into the evening. He came to our home the day before his scheduled time to meet with us, and to see the dog. He wanted Trixie to see us together with him, so she would be comfortable knowing that he was an accepted part of our pet family. He left our home in perfect condition when we came back from a brief vacation. David is a very nice person and he is well suited with pets. I would have David back in the future when his services are again needed. Roseann and Mike b”

“Taylor regularly walks/house sits for my dog! She’s always reliable and communicative when she’s taking care of my pup. I absolutely recommend Taylor for your pets needs!”

About: My name is Drèana. I absolutely love dogs, they are so loving and forgiving and not to mention adorable. I currently don't own any dogs, but I have 2 big fluffy cats who think they're the boss. I live in the Rockland County area where I Have worked in a few doggy daycare / boarding facilities. I am looking forward to building new relationships with adorable dogs and their parent(s), I will take amazing care of your bundle of joy(s), So if you are in the area and are interested, just send me a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible, I look forward to hearing from you! ! ! I͟ w͟i͟l͟l͟ n͟o͟t͟ a͟c͟c͟e͟p͟t͟ d͟o͟g͟s͟ w͟h͟o͟ •Are aggressive in any way I have plenty of time on my hands to take care of your fur baby. A Fun time is in order to tire them out. Following directions on how your pet is cared for is my top priority. It can be scary meeting a new person so it's important to take the time in their environment.
About: As a kid, my family would often take care of our friend's dogs, but we never had one of our own. Now, I'm a dad of three young humans and one bundle of fluff named Simba. Oh and let's not forget Victoria, our rabbit. We love havinganimals, and we still love watching other people's animals too. I'm also offering to house-sit, and take other people's dogs (either solo or with my Simba) for walks. I mostly work from home and never leave a dog alone while in my care. We take several walks per day, including morning, lunch, and at least two in the evening. I have a comfortable living space, a nice yard area, nice green space and a park nearby. When dogsitting, I take very little space for myself and leave the space better than when I found it.
“Brandon was great! He came to meet us beforehand to make sure we were comfortable. Booch immediately loved him. While we were away he was extremely communicative and sent lots of pictures. The house was also well taken care of. We would definitely hire him again!”

About: Prior to moving towns I used to pet sit for all of my neighbors. Pets large and small, it didn’t matter but it was always fun. I’m starting my MBA next fall so anything earned on here will go towards that goal of mine! I’ve owned pets for over 12 years and have been taking care of others for 6 so almost all throughout high school and undergrad. I can walk multiple dogs at once, great with elderly animals, experienced with puppies, able to administer pet medication, etc. If you have questions reach out! Currently I am taking two online summer courses for my MBA with Sacred Heart University. I go to the gym 4 times a week and work drop in bartending shifts sometimes on weekends. Since I make my own schedule pet care fits very well into it because I can tailor mine to fit the animals needs! I don’t offer in home care at the moment because my sister recently got hip surgery so I’m waiting until she’s more comfortable to have other peoples pets at home. Otherwise I have two sweet dogs who have coexisted well with pets that I’ve taken care of in the past as well as cats they stay in their own room.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - New Square
We had such a great experience with Christie watching our dogs, Kane and Rina! She was absolutely amazing from start to finish. She kept us updated the entire time with pictures, walk updates, and messages, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away.

Eric was an amazing sitter for Luna! We received daily updates of videos and pictures. It was the first time she wasn’t being taken care of by immediate family. Our girl is a fussy little eater but Eric was generously patient with our feeding requirement which needed boiled chicken on the daily. He walked and gave her all the play time she wanted. She got even more spoiled! He even ran out and got her extra Greenies and wet food when her supply ran out! We will definitely be asking Eric to watch her again when we can’t bring her with us. What a relief all around that we found such a great sitter!!

We were so fortunate to have had Ivan watch our puppy for a weekend! We learned so much from Ivan’s expertise as he generously shared so much training knowledge with us. He took excellent care of our puppy, took him on many adventures, and we came home to the happiest dog! Would highly recommend any of his services to others.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in New Square on Rover is $49.95 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 17,882 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across New Square. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred New Square walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in New Square maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in New Square choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in New Square. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
