Ashley was fantastic! She took such great care of our dogs - they loved her and followed her around everywhere! Ashley sent us photos each day to keep us updated on how they were doing, played with them, took them on walks and made sure they were loved. On top of that, she left the house spotless. We couldn’t recommend Ashley more.

About: I have always had a big heart for all dogs. They truly are man’s best friends! I grew up with 2 dogs of my own, Melbee and Reese. I watched and helped care for them in the crazy puppy and teething stages, the feisty teenager stage, all the way up into the little old lady stage. They were the most loving, sweet dogs and I miss them so much. I think every dog deserves all the love, head scratches, and snuggles in the world and would love to be there for your dogs when you are taking a vacation or will be away! I helped both my dogs with training for emotional therapy support and was there for both puppy potty training courses! I do work Monday - Friday from home, but I am available as early in the morning as you need and then I am avalible after work. If your dog is older and able to come stay at my apartment, I can watch them during my workday! I am also free on the weekends to stop by and care for your baby as much as you need! My apartment complex does not have a fenced yard, however, they do have tons of open space for dogs to play in, lots of walking paths, and are considered to be very pet friendly! There is more than enough space for your dog to get all the walkies and play time they need. In your own home, I will make sure to keep everything exactly the way you need, clean up after both the dogs and myself, and keep your home in top notch condition. I know dogs can get messy sometimes so If you show me where the vacuum is, I will get right to work! Nothing is better than coming home to your favorite pet and a nice clean home!

Allison did a great job housesitting our 2 vizsla's for 6 days/5 nights while we were away on an international trip. She met our dogs a couple of weeks before our trip and noted their individual needs. It was good to know they could be comfortable in their own home and cared for the same they would if we were there. It was so nice to receive daily updates and photos of our dogs as well. I would rebook Allison again.

About: I've been a pet sitter over 10 years and I love what I do. I feel very lucky to surround myself with beautiful fur babies. I work part time from home and make my own schedule. I'm extremely flexible with my hours. I'm here to make it easy for you. Lots of walks and playtime. Every animal is different, so I accomadate accordingly to the animal and what they like and want to do. I find them much happier that way.

Jason is one of the top pet sitters we’ve ever had. At our meet and greet, he took notes and asked questions to make sure he had all the details covered. What set Jason apart was how invested he was in giving the same high level of care toward our non-traditional pets (parrot and gecko) as he did for our dog. He was confident, curious, and eager to learn about their needs so he could provide proper enrichment, beyond just basic care. He paid close attention to how they were doing, asked thoughtful questions, and happily tried suggestions to encourage our parrot’s appetite. It gave me peace of mind to know all our pets were getting attentive, genuine care while we were gone. I would especially recommend Jason for pet parents of non-traditional pets or pets with special needs, as he’s highly responsible, responsive, and detailed in his care of all animals.

About: I have been taking care of various different pets since I was 16. I was taught specially how to take care of all types of pets. I have worked in a shelter and daycare environment. There I learned how to watch and pick up after various breeds of dogs. I also learned how to care for dogs that need a bit of extra love. I am currently back in Olathe for summer break. My schedule is very free since I am not currently working. I am still doing multiple sits and walks while I am home so communication is key. I am very comfortable working with all breeds of dogs. I will be able to keep your babies company while also insuring their safety. I am well equipped in basic vet safety measures.

About: I’m reliable, patient, and genuinely love caring for animals. I take time to understand each pet’s personality and needs, whether that’s playtime or extra attention. You can count on me to treat your pet like family and keep you updated so you always feel at ease. I take care of my three cats morning and night, feeding them three times a day with fresh water at every meal. This routine has taught me the importance of consistency, attention, and creating a calm environment for pets. I’m experienced in providing loving care, monitoring their needs closely, and making sure they feel safe and comfortable throughout the day. I am more than happy to take care of your dogs as well! When caring for pets in your home, I prioritize maintaining their regular routine to keep them comfortable and stress free. I follow your instructions carefully, whether it’s feeding schedules, exercise, or medication, and give each pet plenty of attention and affection. I make sure their environment stays clean and safe, and I provide updates so you can feel confident your pet is happy and well cared for while you’re away.

Reese did an amazing job: first walking me through how to introduce her to my anxious big dog at our meet-n-greet and on the first day of the sit. She regularly sent a ton of pictures of my three pets throughout the weeklong stay, which increased my enjoyment of my time away. And even though she caught a really bad cold while sitting, she remained extremely communicative and committed to staying with my pets until the day I was due home, which I greatly appreciated. And I also appreciated her efforts to make sure my home was sanitized and cleaned before I returned.

Allison sat for us over the Fourth of July and kept my 2 dogs who are severely scared of fireworks safe and cared for. We haven’t been able to travel over the fourth for 8 years because of it. Family obligations we could not miss had us traveling this year and I don’t know what we would have done without Allison. She is a treasure. As I always say, book her if you can! She is in high demand for very good reason!!!!!!!

FAQs for House Sitting - New Century

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in New Century on Rover is $37.19 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 1,507 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across New Century. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred New Century walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in New Century maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in New Century choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in New Century. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
