Kirk was fantastic to work with all around! He accommodated my short-notice request and took time to meet me and my dog ahead of time, which I greatly appreciated since it was my first booking with him. He walked the dog for longer than anticipated and was patient when the dog was hesitant to leave the house at first, and he took the time to clean him up a bit since it was a rainy day. I highly recommend Kirk’s services!

About: Hello there!! I’ve taken care of dogs and cats for years, whether they’ve been mine or a friends’! I love all animals of all sizes and I can’t wait to show your pets some love! I am currently doing seasonal work away from home where my cat and dog are living with my parents, but any interaction I get with dogs at work make my day! My pets have always been a top priority for me, including food, environment and happiness! Unfortunately I am not able to watch pets in my home but I would love to visit yours, whether it’s just to pop in and check up or follow your animal’s daily routine!

About: Hello! I'm Ashley. I am 35 years old. I am from Stuart, FL. I will be returning to work and live in Bar Harbor, ME for the fall season from Sept 22 through December 1, 2026. I have always been an animal lover and if I could afford a farm and have every type of animal in it... I would. I have owned, dogs, fish, and birds. I have had dogs most of my life. I had a Jack Russell who lived to be 11 years old named Romeo...He was a ball of energy, he had eye problems and needed drops daily. I also had a Rat Terrier named Oliver, we bought him at a year old. He lived to be 14 years old. Most recently my sister currently has a mini golden doodle, who is 4 years old. I loved taking my dogs on the trails in the parks. If I didn’t travel so much, I would love a dog of my own. I work seasonal contract jobs outside the National parks, mainly in the summer season. I go walking everyday & I would love to bring your pup with me. I am renting a shared apartment so I will not be able to bring them to my place. I will happily come to your hotel or house!

About: Hello! I'm Jess - I'm originally from Northern California and moved to Maine in 2025. Growing up I always had dogs (and sometimes cats), and learned to take care of pets from a young age. I was the go-to person in my neighborhood for petsitting, drop-in visits and dog-walking. I look forward to meeting you & your fur babies! I'm currently only working through Rover, so my schedule is very flexible right now! I'm available for drop-ins, all-day stays and overnights, as well as for long-term pet-sitting in your home. I love making every animal feel cared for - from playing with them, going on long walks outside, providing pets and cuddles, giving them occasional treats, etc. I care for every pet as if they were my own. I also love to send little text and video updates, so you can check in on them while you're away. I've even done FaceTimes with pets and their owners!

Thank goodness for Katie! We went out for a very long day, and she was able to come to the house twice (!!!) to take care of our pets. She got our dog out for a walk two times (not always easy) and fed him and the cat and made sure everything was in order. She is always super responsive and responsible, and it is so comforting to know that someone with Katie's level of expertise and experience is taking care of our pets with loving care and kindness. Thank you!

Communicative and flexible with some last minute changes. Arrived for a first time walk just as I was getting home from an unexpectedly long work day so the dog was bonkers. Chloe met the chaos with calm and professionalism, instantly made friends with the dog and the dog had a great time. Will definitely be hiring again

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
