“Charlene is amazing! We couldn’t have left our fur baby in better hands. She’s so polite, responsible and trustworthy. She made our experience with her so satisfying always communicating the status of our little Hanna and taking the best care of her by the time she spent with her. We’ll definitely hire her again and again and again. Kudos Charlene!”

“She was great with our pups. One fairly energetic, but in need of calm because he was recovering from knee surgery, and the other a 17 year old diva who is mostly blind and mostly deaf. Will definitely book again.”

“Brian dog sat in our home for the week and was absolutely wonderful! He kept us updated with messages and pictures throughout our trip, which gave us such peace of mind. He was incredibly attentive, caring, and loving with our pup. We came home to a happy, well-cared-for dog and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Glad we booked with him again!”

“This was our very first time using Rover, and as extremely overprotective dog parents, we were definitely nervous. But Brad was absolutely amazing from start to finish. He eased our minds with daily updates, complete with photos and videos that showed just how well our dog was doing! We also had a Fi tracker on his collar and it was so reassuring to see how many walks and steps he was getting. Brad took him out so often, even more than our normal routine! Our dog occasionally gets so excited that he’ll throw up if he hasn’t eaten in a while, and when it happened, Brad immediately texted us, cleaned it up, and made sure he ate and drank after. His communication was quick, calm, and thoughtful, which helped us feel totally at ease. It was clear our dog was incredibly well cared for — he got plenty of walks, playtime with his toys, and lots of attention. Honestly, he looked sad when Brad left! Brad also left our home neat and spotless, which we really appreciated. We feel like we hit the jackpot with Brad. We couldn’t have asked for anyone better to take care of our fur baby, and we’d recommend him to absolutely anyone. We hope to book with him again!”

“Breanna was very responsive and took great care of Fitz. He is shy and cautious by nature, but seemed very comfortable and happy in the photos and when I returned. I think he had a great time!”

“Michaela did such a great job watching our dog. She was very pleasant and professional. I will definitely use her again next time we go on vacation. I will also recommend her to anybody need somebody to watch there dog.”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs since I was 10 years old. Both being surrounded by 4 dogs and 2 cats my entire life I know how to cater to each pets personality and make them feel safe! I’ve had experience with senior dogs as well as young pups and know the patience needed for each pet!! I am currently in between graduating and looking for another job for my career. I am currently available all days of the week and am willing to do early mornings and late nights! I will make sure to study my environment and ensure that I can understand your pets to the fullest! I am a guest in their home and will treat it as such as well as make them feel comfortable with me in it✨
“Brooke did an awesome job taking care of our dog while we were away. This is the first time we’ve come back from a trip in the past few years and our dog has not been super stressed and clingy. Brooke was also very professional throughout the process and took great care of our house. She will definitely be our first choice for a sitter the next time we go away.”

“Lidia was so wonderful with my two pups. This was the first time we left them home without someone from the family and they did so well. Lidia sent me photos and messages everyday and paid special attention to the little details. Would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a responsible and loving sitter.”

“Antonia was outstanding! We knew ahead of time our fur babies were in great hands and we were not disappointed. Antonia was in contact with us, sending photos and updating us along the way. Vacation was much more relaxing knowing our dogs were happily in their home being loved on. Such a great find for our family!”

“Krystie did a fantastic job caring for our high energy golden retriever Noah! My wife & I were very impressed with her knowledge on dogs, their behaviors, and how to act in certain scenarios. As first time (large) dog owners, Krystie gave us some training tips that we have been able to successfully apply. Sometimes our golden boy can be a handful, but clearly, Krystie has proven her experience. She sent us videos throughout her stay that gave us peace of mind & reassurance that we made the right choice. She also took great care of our home, going above and beyond what we requested. We trust her & will definitely be booking her again in the future!”

“Cheryl was great for walking and sitting for our 2 standard poodles. Our younger one is more challenging but she was patient and eventually won him over. She was very professional and we were very comfortable in trusting her with our fur babies for a weeklong trip. Can’t recommend her enough.”

“Anna is so sweet and was so good with Maisie, sending updates and following her regular routine. she also took great care of our house - we came home to everything clean & tidy and Maisie loved her, we would definitely have Anna watch our dog again!”

“JJ was awesome with our pets. Lots of love and attention for our dog and cat plus the house was taken care of. Will definitely book again on our next trip. Thanks JJ for all your help!”

“This was my first time using Rover, as I typically leave Blaze with friends or family members and I must say Jorge was amazing. He arrived early during the meet and greet and the day of the booked service. According to his previous reviews this must be a consistent thing. During the meet and greet, Blaze took to Jorge immediately. This shocked me because my dog has a lot of personality along with the tendency to ignore people; therefore, I knew this was going to be a good match. While I was there, all Blaze wanted to do was play and jump all over Jorge. I assume they must of had a good time because by the time I got back, Blaze was exhausted.”

This was our first time using Rover and to have someone stay at our home so safe to say we were a little apprehension. Our initial meeting with Cori really put us at ease. Cori quickly became besties with our younger, somewhat skiddish pup and our older pooch settled right in. She kept us updated and let us know if there were any issues. We'd highly recommend Cori and would certainly use her again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Montville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Montville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Montville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Montville. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
