“First Impressions Boarding my dog, Lilly, with someone outside the family for the first time made me a little nervous. My granddaughter, who had used Rover before, helped me submit the application and choose a sitter. Even on the way to drop Lilly off, I still felt apprehensive, but that quickly changed when Teresa gave us such a warm welcome and Lilly and I were greeted by Teresa’s three friendly dogs. Although Lilly seemed a bit overwhelmed at first, she soon relaxed after playing in Teresa’s large backyard, and I felt comfortable leaving her there. Updates During Her Stay Teresa reassured me that Lilly would be well cared for and promised to keep me updated. She followed through by sending photos and notes about how Lilly was sleeping, eating, and taking her medicine, which I really appreciated. Pickup and Overall Experience When I picked Lilly up, Teresa told me what a joy she had been to care for. I’ve interned at St. Hubert’s in Madison twice where I focused on behavior modification in shelter dogs and studied appropriate play in dog play groups. I currently work full time as a dog trainer in my area. I have been fostering with Sheryl’s Den in North Jersey for the past 8 years, and have fostered over 30 dogs. I’m comfortable and skilled in handling dogs most people try to avoid. My experience has helped me to understand dogs in a new way but it’s also helped me to have a unique appreciation for dog owners. So many owners love their dogs like their own children, which means they want their dogs treated like family when they can’t be with them. I know how hard it is to leave my dog with friends or family when I’m away, which is why I want to provide a loving home to your dog. Your pup can sleep on the couch, bed, or crate if they prefer, but he’ll never be alone at night or scared- this I can promise you! I do private, in-home dog training so my schedule is very flexible! I stay within 30 mins of my house and I’m usually only gone for 2-3 hours at a time. While your pup is in my care I will respect your wishes and provide the services exactly as you request. This includes any training goals, details like providing meals/treats at their normally scheduled time, or making sure your pup has his favorite toy to cuddle with at night. Being away from home can typically be very stressful for dogs, especially when they’re in a busy kennel with other dogs barking. At my home, I have one 8 year old, well socialized old man who only wants to snore at night, never bark. No children are in my household so your pup will not be bothered by kids. Whether it’s to train, board, or hang out for playcare, I consider your dog my dog for his stay!! I’m typically home most of the day. If I have to leave for a training session, I’ll be out of the house for 2-3 max at a time. My house has gates throughout it to assure your pets safety at all times to provide them supervision and separation from other dogs if they prefer their space.
About: I've taken care of dogs and cats since I was 8 years old. Family and friends have relied on me to walk, feed and watch their dogs and cats. I am very experienced taking care of cats and dogs. I can clean litter boxes, bathe, feed, and walk as needed. I have a flexible schedule and I can spend time with your pet for however long you need. I am currently taking some classes so I am available at most times during the week and weekends. I have plenty of time to walk and/or play with your pets! Not only did she very kindly accommodate my last minute request - She took such good care of my baby Koko and sent me so many pictures and videos. She was so good with Koko that koko wasn't "anxious" to see me or desperate to leave. Honestly... koko could have stayed with Diana and her family for much longer had the choice been hers lol. It alleviates so much stress when you KNOW your dog is truly so well taken care of and loved on when you're away. I had that feeling with Diana. You'll be SO LUCKY to have her as your sitter.
