“Rhianna was great with Gus and Frankie! She updated us daily with pictures and followed the instructions very well especially for our one dog who requires multiple medications. We would highly recommend and have already rebooked her!”

About: I've cared for dogs since I was 11, caring for my childhood dog all the way to age 16. I have 4 year and counting working in the veterinary field. I'm comfortable caring for older and more medically complex friends if needed. I recently moved to Michigan from Maryland and am settling in to the new normal. I'm currently working part-time and Im very flexible and open through the week, especially holidays. I currently have two cats and a dog and I'm always happy to call another one part of my family. I hope, beyond providing for their basics, I'm able to get to know your pet.
“Aria took diligent care of our pup Ellie while we were both away on work trips. When Ellie wasn't feeling well Aria kept me up to date the whole time, which made me feel comfortable in what could otherwise be a very concerning situation. She even gave Ellie a bath when she rolled around in the mud! Thanks Aria for all your help 🙏”

“Sara did an amazing job taking care of Rioux and our home while we were away. She is a mature, responsible person, and we felt completely safe and confident leaving everything in her care. Rioux was happy, relaxed, and clearly well looked after when we returned. Sara kept us updated, which made the whole experience stress-free. The house was spotless, and we wouldn’t hesitate to book her again. Highly recommend Sara to anyone looking for a trustworthy, dependable dog house sitter.”

About: I’ve just recently moved home to Midland, MI with my family, after eight years in Maryland & Germany. I work a fulltime job during the day, but am flexible to weekend & evening schedules. When I am in care of your dog(s), they are my priority. I've owned dogs & have babysat them frequently throughout the last 30+ years. Additionally, I have house sat on many occasions- including about five years with Rover. This has been an extremely enjoyable job that I approach with great care. I am straight forward, honest and dependable. I enjoy all types of dogs & am very comfortable in getting acclimated to new ones. I have no problem in adjusting to any preferences that any of my clients would prefer in pet sitting. My weekly routine is very consistent. It will be noted in the schedule section of my profile should I require any time off, which rarely happens. I always gather emergency contact & vet information; then form a plan of action with the client. Above all else, safety is my top priority.
“Annika was so good with our difficult fur baby! She was able to get him to eat (he gets anxious easily) and to take his pills (he has an intense pill schedule!) House was still clean when we got home. She sent pictures and an update every couple of days like we discussed. Very happy with our first Rover experience and so was our dog! :)”

“Shaylin did an excellent job taking care of my dogs and ensuring all of my care instructions were understood and followed. She provided regular updates and was responsive whenever I reached out. I’d definitely recommend!”

About: I have known dogs for about 8 years and worked at an animal kennel for 2 years, taking care of 2-month-old puppies to 17-year-old dogs. I know how to give oral and injected medicine, and have taken training classes for all ages of dogs I am currently shadowing at a Veterinary Clinic, but will always have nights to do overnight house sitting, and the day I don't work, I am available for day-care in your home, walking, and training Any house is sufficient for overnight pet sitting, daycare, or training. I don't need anything specific for any of these services, and the pets will be getting amazing and comfortable care.
“Highly recommend. She was prompt, sent regular updates and took great care of our pets. The dogs were happy and well cared for when we arrived back home. Will use her services again.”

“Sydney was great with our dogs. She stayed the weekend at our house. We received daily updates and pics of the pups. Great communication and would highly recommend. We’ll look for her again next time we need a sitter.”

“Alana was wonderful to work with! She was very responsive and communicative throughout the stay, sending daily updates and photos which gave us a lot of peace of mind. She took great care of our pets and helped them feel comfortable. She also left the house very clean, even doing more than we would’ve expected. She was also incredibly flexible when our travel plans changed due to flight issues. We’d definitely recommend her and would love to work with her again!”

“We had a great experience with Amy! She watched our two dogs, Zed and Bow, for the day. It was clear from the moment she arrived that she’s experienced and truly enjoys being around animals. She was attentive to their needs and communicated with us to let us know everything was going well. She sent us photos of them relaxing throughout the day, which helped give us peace of mind. Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Midland walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Midland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Midland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
