Kaitlyn was fantastic.! We have three large crazy and chaos menaces and she did fantastic with them all weekend. They have a lot of quirks and she did great managing them all. Our girls were taken great care of. Kaitlyn is a go to for dog sitting now. She also had great communication and sent tons of photos.

Aria took diligent care of our pup Ellie while we were both away on work trips. When Ellie wasn't feeling well Aria kept me up to date the whole time, which made me feel comfortable in what could otherwise be a very concerning situation. She even gave Ellie a bath when she rolled around in the mud! Thanks Aria for all your help 🙏

Shannon has been with my dogs twice now. First time was as a drop in visit and second time was house sitting for 4 days. She kept me updated throughout the time I was away as well as kept my dogs very happy. They loved being with her and I was pleased with her care for my dogs. Shannon will now be my regular pet sitter as she is available and willing!

Sydney is a very personable lady. She listens well to instructions, and communicates with understanding, acceptance and flexibility. She was available last minute( same day) which was such a relief to us. We look forward to having her be our “go to person” when we need a pup sitter.

This is the second time we have booked Amy to watch our sweet dog. She was wonderful with our Mabel girl and went the extra mile with everyday spent, even the days mabel was stressing about her family not home and the thunder/tornadoes in the area. We will continue to book with Amy in the future.

About: What sets me apart is my professional experience and my genuine passion for caring for animals. I have over four years of hands-on experience working with dogs in a variety of settings, giving me the skills and confidence to care for pets with different personalities, energy levels, and needs. I have worked in both doggy daycare and boarding facilities, where I cared for groups of dogs every day. My responsibilities included supervising playgroups, monitoring dog behavior, ensuring safe interactions, feeding, administering medications when needed, and providing individualized care for dogs of all ages and temperaments. This experience has taught me how to recognize stress signals, prevent conflicts, and make sure every dog feels safe and comfortable. In addition to my professional experience, I have volunteered as a dog walker at a local animal shelter. Working with shelter dogs has given me experience handling dogs that may be shy, fearful, or still learning to trust people. I understand the importance of patience, positive reinforcement, and adapting to each dog’s individual needs. I’ve also provided pet care for friends, family, and members of my local community, caring for dogs in their own homes while their owners were away. Whether it’s daily walks, overnight stays, sticking to feeding schedules, or simply giving pets companionship and love, I always treat every animal like they’re my own. I pride myself on being reliable, trustworthy, and maintaining excellent communication with pet owners. I’ll send regular updates and photos so you can relax knowing your pet is happy and well cared for. My goal is to provide a safe, loving, and stress-free experience where your pet feels comfortable, and you have complete peace of mind while you’re away. Pet care is something I truly enjoy, and I make it a priority in my weekly routine. I am a full-time student at Saginaw Valley State University and a member of the SVSU Dance Team, but I have a very flexible schedule and am committed to working around my classes and practices to meet the needs of my clients. I understand that pets rely on consistency, and I’m happy to accommodate early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight care whenever my schedule allows. I plan my time carefully so I can provide dependable, high-quality care and give every pet the attention they deserve. Whether your pet needs a quick drop-in visit, a long walk, overnight companionship, or care while you’re away for several days, I strive to be as flexible and reliable as possible. Caring for animals isn’t just something I do, it’s something I’m passionate about, and I enjoy building lasting relationships with both pets and their owners. I understand that leaving your dog in someone else's care can be a big decision, which is why I take every step to ensure your pet feels safe, secure, and comfortable. I create a calm and welcoming environment for your dog or cat, where they can feel at ease while you're away. Whether it’s keeping their routine consistent, providing plenty of mental and physical stimulation, or simply offering lots of love and attention, I’m committed to treating your pet like my own. I take safety seriously, with constant supervision, secure areas for play, and a vigilant eye to ensure no accidents happen. You can rest easy knowing that I’ll be fully attentive to your pet's needs and keep you updated with pictures and messages so you always feel connected.

Neika was an amazing sitter for my dog, Morty! He has a lot of energy and isn't always the easiest dog to handle, but she did an incredible job with him. Since he's recovering from surgery, I was especially anxious about leaving him, but Neika kept me updated with messages and pictures that gave me so much peace of mind. She even went above and beyond by cleaning his surgical wound, which I truly appreciated. It's clear that she genuinely cares about the pets she watches and treats them like her own. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, and I highly recommend Neika to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and attentive sitter!

Sara did an amazing job taking care of Rioux and our home while we were away. She is a mature, responsible person, and we felt completely safe and confident leaving everything in her care. Rioux was happy, relaxed, and clearly well looked after when we returned. Sara kept us updated, which made the whole experience stress-free. The house was spotless, and we wouldn’t hesitate to book her again. Highly recommend Sara to anyone looking for a trustworthy, dependable dog house sitter.

Laura provided care for Jaxon while we were away for a long weekend. Jaxon needs medication’s four times a day and sometimes during the night for anxiety and cognitive issues. I couldn’t have gone away without knowing that he was in good hands, and we were able to actually relax and have a nice time, all knowing Laura was taking care of things at home. I couldn’t give her enough stars, or be happier with her. You won’t be sorry hiring Laura!! She’s the best!

About: I grew up on a farm and have always had pets. Cats, dogs and even a cow and chicken or two. I strongly believe our pets are family members just like our human family. I've had big and little dogs, and many different cats. My current little man is my best buddy he is spoiled and loved so much. He's 7 years old and loves other dogs to hang out with. He doesn't pay any attention to cats. I would love to care for your family member, giving you peace of mind that they will be well cared for and loved on while in my care. My availability is completely open, any day and time. I'm very flexible with dates and times, whether at your home or mine. Thank you for your time and I look forwars to hearing from you! I have a fenced in area for bathroom breaks and a large yard on a quiet country road to run and play in. I have space for a crate, I even have a very large one that can be used if necessary. Also have an almost two mile lane around our farm property to walk and run around. My home has plenty of space for exploring or just chilling out.

Heather was absolutely wonderful with my 2 boys ( one dog, one cat). She was willing to come meet them the week before, so they would be comfortable with her coming into the house. She sent pictures and updates throughout her stay, and even took my dog for a walk that I did not specifically ask for! She left a sweet, detailed note for me to come home to. This was my first experience on Rover, and I’m very grateful I ended up with Heather and will absolutely be using her again when I need in the future!

FAQs for House Sitting - Freeland

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Freeland on Rover is $53.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 176 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Freeland. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Freeland walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Freeland maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Freeland choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Freeland. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 92% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
