About: Hi, I'm Lorraine! Animals have always been a huge part of my life. I'm currently a proud pet mom to Winston, my loyal 8-year-old Chocolate Labrador; Bear, his mischievous 8-month-old Mini Dachshund brother; Sam, our curious 9-month-old cat; Theodore, our sweet 6-year-old bunny; and Tito, our 9-year-old feisty Green-Cheek Conure. Over the years, I've been fortunate to love many wonderful pets. I raised our beloved mastiff mix Bruno, from puppyhood through his senior years until he crossed the Rainbow Bridge at 16 years old. I've also cared for our two cats, Dolly and Mowgli, from kittens into adulthood. Beyond cats and dogs, I have hands-on experience caring for bunnies, hamsters, lizards, and birds, including my beautiful Blue Quaker Parrot, Mr. Grumbles. Most recently, I enjoyed running a small homestead where I cared for 25 chickens and 2 roosters, along with 22 hand-raised cheeky ducks. When you entrust your pets to my care, you can have complete peace of mind knowing they'll be treated with the same love, patience, and attention I give my own family pets. Whether it's a walk, drop-in visit, or overnight stay, I'll make sure they feel safe, happy, and well cared for while you're away. Communication is important to me, so you'll receive regular updates and plenty of photos to help you feel connected to your furry (or feathered!) family members. Before any booking, I'd love to arrange a meet-and-greet so we can get to know each other, discuss your pet's routine and individual needs, and ensure their vacation is just as enjoyable as yours! The Kindred Pet Company LLC is fully licensed and insured. Pet care is naturally woven into my daily routine because I care for my own pets every day. My mornings begin with feeding, walks, fresh water, cleaning litter trays and cages, and making sure everyone gets the attention they need before I start my day. Throughout the day, I make time for potty breaks, playtime, enrichment, and plenty of affection, with usually an hour-long evening walks, feeding, and bedtime routines to finish the day. When I'm caring for your pet, I make them part of my routine too. I carefully follow their normal schedule to help them feel comfortable and secure while you're away, ensuring they receive the same love, patience, and attentive care that I give my own pets When dogs stay in my home, they'll be welcomed into a safe, loving environment alongside my two friendly, well-mannered dogs. I have a securely fenced backyard where they can enjoy supervised playtime, explore, and relax on the shaded porch. Daily exercise is an important part of our routine, so I walk my dogs twice a day through my gated community, always on a leash for their safety. For puppies and younger dogs who are still learning, I'm happy to reinforce basic commands and good manners using positive, consistent encouragement. I always follow your preferred routines and training methods to help maintain consistency. For drop-in visits, I like to schedule a meet-and-greet beforehand so I can get to know you, your pet, and their normal routine. This gives us an opportunity to discuss feeding schedules, walks, medications, favorite activities, and any special instructions, ensuring your pet receives personalized care while you're away. Throughout each visit, I'll provide plenty of love, attention, and regular photo updates so you can have complete peace of mind.
“My dog is shy and apprehensive around strangers but Joanna made her feel safe and comfortable right away. She sent pics throughout the day which made me feel more comfortable too. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with Joanna again it was a good experience for both my dog and myself ?”

About: I have several years of hands-on experience caring for pets of all kinds — including dogs, cats, small animals, and even senior pets. My care includes feeding, walking, administering medication, and giving plenty of attention and affection. I take pride in providing dependable, safe, and loving care so pet owners can feel confident their companions are in good hands. I’m currently a stay at home mom, both my kids are now in school full time. I would love to be able to help others with their pets while I’m home. I have an unfenced yard but would walk them as much as needed. I’m also able to crate train if needed. I currently have no pets in the home.
“Priya is just the sweetest! She takes such good care of my dog, so much that he doesn’t want to leave lol. She sends plenty of updates to brighten your day, is always responsive, and great to work with! I appreciate her so much!”

“Shelly is wonderful, she really saved the day when we needed someone to watch Milo for the entire day at the last minute. Milo is very shy but Shelly took great care of him and he seemed to warm up very fast. Also Shelly’s home is doggy paradise!! A big screened sunroom for the dogs to relax and catch some rays and a huge fenced yard for them to run around in and take frequent potty breaks. Thanks Shelly!”

“They took great care of my little love when we needed a last minute drop off on our vacation. Made sure he was comfortable and sent me pictures to show he was doing well. Thanks for providing great service!”

About: I’ve taken care of pets of every kind since I was 10. Neighbors, friends and family have relied on me to walk, feed and bathe their pets. I’m currently working part time so I will have plenty of time to play with and care for your pets. I am available for boarding every night. I do not mind traveling outside of my service area, over 30 miles, for in home sitting but I would need to add $20 extra to the price to recoup some of my gas money. I will care for your pets and meet their special needs. I will take them for potty breaks every 2 hours while boarding overnight and however many times requested while stopping by for some outside time. I will also send fun pics to you so you know they are loved while you are away. **Please ensure you bring along any food for your pet, as I do not provide this due to individual diets. Also anything else that would bring extra comfort to them etc, blankets, crates (although I have a large crate if needed), bedding, toys, treats as well as any medications or probiotics/vitamins they are taking.
“Amelia and Gregg are wonderful! You can tell they love dogs and are great with them. My dog who hates to leave my side loves going over to their house and when he sees me getting ready for work he gets excited because he knows he is going to visit with his new friends.”

“Gigi loves Nancy! She is very attentive and a very trustable person. She promptly answers all the time and sends constant updates during the day with video and pictures. She is reliable and I always have peace of mind when I leave my puppy with her. She will take great care of your fur friends and they will love her I guarantee you. She is definitely one of my favorite pet sitters out there ?”

“Mandy was so good with our puppy! She sent videos during his stay with her and made me feel even better about leaving him with her. Seems like he had a great time playing! Mandy was extremely kind and professional. Will definitely be using her again in the future!”

“My 7 month old puppy had a great time playing with another Shih tzu at Fiorella’s house. She sent pics during the day so I could feel more at ease. He was well taken care of and we will return in the near future!”

“Debbie took great care of our older dog, little Rosie who has separation anxiety (thx to Covid then the recent death of her litter mate) ), we felt very comfortable spending the day at Kennedy space Center right down the street. Nice neighborhood, great house with a doggie door to a fenced-in yard, a ramp to the couch where Rosie can look out the window and wait for us to come back ;) We rec’d updates and pics. We would highly recommend.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 797 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across Merritt Island. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Merritt Island commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in FL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 797 sitters in Merritt Island, 86% respond to messages in under an hour.
You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
