“jacquelyn was great! dropped my dog off to her for the weekend and received multiple updates each day. especially appreciated the photos and videos! when i picked up my dog he seemed to have had a good time ˙ᵕ˙”

“Cooper and Nora are so friendly! Nora was super easy to talk to and seemed to understand my dog’s needs and temperament immediately. I got daily bundles of photos with a few notes of how he was doing, what he did that day, etc. They treated him like one of their own, that’s for certain. Also, they have a fenced in outdoor area full of toys, turf, and equipment for dogs to play on with plenty of sunny and shaded sections.”

“Sara is awesome and so sweet! We camped on the Channel Islands for a night and I felt confident leaving my dog with Sara knowing I would have limited phone service. Great communication from the beginning and I appreciated the many updates/pictures. Casper (her dog) was great too and very chill. Mayze enjoyed her naps and walks. Also her house and backyard are perfectly set up for furry friends. Thanks for everything! Highly recommend.”
“Ellen was fantastic! She made my pup feel right at home, took her on walks, and shared thoughtful updates that completely put me at ease. You can truly tell that Ellen loves animals and takes such great care of them. I’d absolutely recommend her and can’t thank her enough!”

“We've left our baby (dog) with Misty a few times and every time she makes us feel more and more comfortable. It sure makes a difference to know that we have someone like Misty and her family to care for our pet while we are away.”

“Caring family and plenty of space to run around! Our one and a bit year old pup had an absolute blast zooming around the backyard with their two labradoodles. Amanda was very accomodating and kept us updated with pictures.”

“Our fur babies stayed with Alexandra and Billy during our vacation in Santa Barbara. They were very accommodating during our time there. We were able to pick our pups, spend time with them and drop them off again. Our pups were happy and well taken care of. We will definitely contact them again on future visits to the area.”

“We had a wonderful experience booking with Kalia. She was always quick to respond to booking requests, messages, and was very understanding when we had to cancel a different booking due to a change in plans. She sent regular updates and pictures of our boy and I could tell he was having a great visit with her and her two goldens. She put our mind at ease as this was our first time booking through Rover. We had used boarding facilities in the past and our boy would come back overstimulated and often with tummy issues, but it was not the case when he stayed with Kalia. We will definitely book with her again next time!”

“I can’t express how thankful I am. This was a new experience for me as a new pet owner, definetly the best choice I’ve could’ve made. Paola and her family were absolutely great to Dobby. Always kept me in touch while I was away with pictures and made me feel so in touch with my Dobby as well. Thank you guys :)”

About: About 3 years ago, I moved to California specifically to live with a close friend who had just become a flight attendant to help take care of her two dogs and two cats while she was away for work. Since she traveled often, I became a big part of their everyday care… feeding, walks, potty breaks, playtime, keeping them company, and of course giving them lots of love. I even took them to a little trip with me to Joshua tree, which they enjoyed very much! One of her cats also had asthma, so I learned to be extra attentive to her needs and helped with taking her to vet appointments when needed. I’ve also helped other friends with house sitting, dog walking, and caring for their pets while they were away or out of town. I genuinely love animals and know how important it is to have someone you trust taking care of your fur babies. I’ll always make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and get plenty of love and attention while you’re away 🤍🐾 I may be new to Rover, but caring for pets has been a big part of my life for the last few years, and I’d love to care for yours too! I do work full-time in the hotel industry as a front desk supervisor, and do 8-hour shifts. My schedule varies throughout the week, but I’m available before and after work, on my days off, and for drop-ins or walks. For house sitting, I’m happy to stay overnight and care for your fur baby before and after my shift. I’ll always be upfront about my schedule so we can make sure it’s the right fit for your pet! I know every fur baby has their own personality and routine, so I like to learn what makes them feel most comfortable before you leave. Whether that means a specific feeding schedule, their favorite walking route, extra playtime, or just having someone nearby to keep them company, I’m happy to follow their normal routine. I’m also very respectful of your home and will always make sure doors are locked, instructions are followed, and everything is left just as I found it. I’m happy to send pictures and little updates too, so you can enjoy your time away knowing your fur baby is doing well!
“My dog had a wonderful experience with Alice. She is such a delight!! She communicated with me through out the duration of watching my dog, Barney. It was lovely to get pictures and videos of my fur baby while I was away on vacation. She was gentle and loving to my dog, Barney and I will most definitely use her again. I would highly recommend her to all my friends who are looking to leave their pet with Alice.”

“Alexandrea was great, she was so helpful and reassuring to me and provided a safe and comfy stay for my kitty while I was gone for the week :-) will definitely rebook if I’m ever on vacation again!”

“Rajarshi was wonderful. He took such good care of our senior boy! I was nervous about leaving Gordie with someone other than family, but that went away when I received the daily updates and how well taken care of Gordie was 😊 I would definitely recommend Rajarshi.”

“Lorri took amazing care of my dog while we were out of the country. She kept in regular contact with updates and really went above and beyond to make sure that Sierra was comfortable and healthy. Fantastic sitter!”

“Ashley took amazing care of our Dash! He had tons of play time with the other dogs that stayed with her and her own. She kept us informed and up to date on how much fun Dash was having and sent us plenty of pictures of him while we were on vacation and we could see he was in great hands! We loved that he also had a big yard to play in and a nice house to feel comfortable in. Dash will be happy to stay here again!”

About: Hello, I’m Dani! I am so fortunate to be doing what I love most- caring for animals and helping them thrive with their families. Whether it’s making sure they get the daily exercise they need, a quick potty break, feeding, or check-in while you’re away from home, I am honored to be considered for your pet care needs. I am a former Vet Tech and a lifelong animal lover. I have over 25 years of experience caring for cats and dogs in a professional setting, as well as my own 3 pets. I have volunteered and fostered for many local rescue organizations over the years and enjoy staying involved with animal welfare and rescue. Animal care is my greatest passion and I hope to share that with your special fur babies! Currently I am available for the following: weekday and/or weekends for drop-in visits, feedings, short potty walks or longer walks/hikes, house sitting, and/or in-home daycare and dog boarding. For additional peace of mind, I am certified in pet CPR and first aid. If your dog or cat has special needs or requires a custom care plan, no problem! I am able to administer injections and medications as needed. I will treat your pet with the same loving care and attention to detail that I would give my own. Keeping your pets safe, healthy and happy is my top priority.

“Erin and Kenneth were great hosts for our energetic boy! He and their dog, Sparty, got along so well and we loved that he got to grow a friendship during his stay. Erin and Kenneth were both so kind and accommodating which reassured that our pup was in great hands. We are really happy with our experience and would definitely book again! Thank you so much :)”

“Romeo was so happy during his stay. I loved that Erica sent me photos . Her daughter is also amazing and both cared for my dog. When I picked up Romeo he was so happy, I could tell he had a great vacation. Thank you both so much.”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Meiners Oaks
We were visiting Ojai for a concert, and worried about leaving Lorenzo at the hotel during the show. Thankfully we found Misty! He ended up having a great time with her and her family - cuddling with the kids. She was awesome about sending us updates and pictures. We would 100% have her watch him again!

Steve and I are so glad to have had our boarding experience with Kyle and Brooks. They were quick to communicate and super accommodating with arrangement an our Pug, Puck was treated like a member of the family and clearly enjoyed his experience. We will definitely reach out to them for our dog care needs in the future! 5 Stars!!Excellent!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Meiners Oaks home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Meiners Oaks.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Meiners Oaks sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
