About: I've owned and cared for all kinds of animals my whole life. Professionally, I have experience working as a dog handler, kennel attendant, dog bather, and groomer. I also have extensive experience working and caring for cats, horses, and various small animals. My +3 years working at a dog daycare facility had me safely handling a pack of up to 25 dogs; providing exercise & engagement, soft corrections, and positive reinforcement. To do so, it was necessary to be observant and in tune with the dog's behavior and always on the lookout for any signs of stress or aggression. As a bather and groomer, I was focused on hygiene but a large aspect of the job relied on my knowledge of dog behavior and training techniques. I've owned cats my entire life and have worked with a TNR rescue the past few years getting pregnant females and unneutered male cats fixed and adopted. I also have pet care insurance with animal baliee coverage in case of emergencies. I always care for every animal as if they are my own and I understand how important it is for them to feel comfortable and loved. I work part-time on the night shift, so I'm usually out of the house between 9:30pm and 2am Monday through Friday. Outside of that- my schedule is flexible. I am available on most weekends and holidays. I only book one client at a time for pet sits and boarding, so your pet(s) will have my full attention. I live in a quiet suburban neighborhood with a huge, unfenced yard. I own a variety of animal care supplies and equipment.

About: I’ve had experience with animals my entire life! I’ve owned many dogs, cats, a bunny, a bird, snakes, fish, geckos, and I even have a tarantula! Professionally, I’ve been caring for animals for a bit under a year; I currently work at a doggy daycare/boarding facility, so I have been trained professionally in different areas. I’ve owned a reactive dog before, and currently have a fear aggressive/reactive dog. The bigger the dog, the better! I absolutely adore giant breeds and have experience in their care. I have a wide knowledge about dog breeds and their behaviors, as well as dog body language. I have experience in medication administration as well. As for other animals, I can adequately care for your reptiles! I work part time currently and always have weekends off, so I can drop in any time on weekends or when my work schedule allows it! I’m comfortable with almost everything regarding animals. I currently have 2 dogs and 3 cats and my house is equipped to care for everyone individually. Every animal is different and I’m able to adapt to their needs to make sure that they’re happy and healthy.

About: Hi there! I’m a lifelong animal lover who treats every animal like my own. Whether it’s a walk around the block, playtime in the yard, or cozy cuddles, I make sure your pet feels safe, happy, and loved while you’re away I work in education, so I am available in the late afternoons and evenings during the week. My weekend availability is generally very open. :) When caring for pets in a client’s home, I treat each animal like they’re my own: with love, patience, and respect. I take time to understand each pet’s routine, personality, and needs, whether that means sticking to specific feeding times, giving medication, going for long walks, or offering extra cuddles and playtime. I also make sure their environment stays clean and comfortable, and I’m happy to send updates and photos to keep you at ease while you’re away. My goal is always to provide consistency and care so your pet feels safe and happy in their familiar surroundings.

About: What sets me apart is the level of care and attention I give every pet as if they were my own. My love for animals comes from raising my own dogs, especially my sweet girl, Roxi, whom I was fortunate to have from the time she was a puppy until she crossed the Rainbow Bridge in February 2026 at 15 years old. Caring for her through every stage of life gave me firsthand experience with senior dog care, medication schedules, mobility assistance, and the extra patience, compassion, and love that aging pets deserve. I'm comfortable maintaining feeding routines, administering oral medications, providing potty breaks, and recognizing when a dog's behavior or health seems out of the ordinary. I understand that every dog has a different personality, energy level, and comfort needs, and I adapt my care to make them feel safe, relaxed, and loved. For puppies, I'm happy to reinforce the training and routines you're already working on, including crate training, potty schedules, basic commands, and positive reinforcement. I know consistency is important, and I'll follow your instructions to help keep your puppy on track. You'll also receive regular updates, photos, and messages so you can enjoy your time away knowing your pet is happy, comfortable, and in caring hands. My goal is to provide a stress-free experience for both pets and their owners. Pet care fits well into my schedule because I work a hybrid full-time position, which allows me flexibility throughout the week. I carefully manage my calendar and only accept bookings that I know I can fully commit to, ensuring every pet receives the attention, exercise, and care they deserve. Whether it's morning walks, evening visits, overnight stays, or weekend care, I plan my schedule around each pet's needs. I believe reliability and consistency are just as important as love and affection, so I make it a priority to maintain your pet's normal routine as closely as possible. About: I run a dog walking and training business in Chicago, and pet care is at the center of everything I do. I hold a search and rescue dog training certification, which means I bring real behavioral know-how to every walk: reading body language, managing leash reactivity, and helping anxious dogs feel safe in new environments. Whether it's a high-energy pup needing a solid outlet or a senior dog needing a gentler pace, I tailor every visit to what your dog actually needs. I'm background-checked and bonded and insured up to $1M, so you can trust your pup is in steady, capable hands. Pet care isn't a side gig for me, it's my business, so dog walks and visits are built into the core of my week rather than squeezed in around something else. I keep a flexible daily schedule that lets me offer consistent walk times your dog can count on, plus room for same-week bookings when plans change. Mornings and early afternoons tend to be my most open windows, and I'm always happy to work with you to find a recurring time that fits your routine. Safety comes first on every walk. I'm background-checked, and bonded and insured up to $1M, so you can feel confident handing over your leash. Before a first walk, I always do a meet and greet to get a feel for your dog's temperament, energy level, and any triggers, so I can adjust my approach accordingly, with secure leash handling and close attention to signs of stress or fatigue. In your home, I treat your space with the same care and respect I'd want for my own, keeping doors and gates secure and leaving everything exactly as I found it.

Tamara was amazing! I booked her last minute to watch Charlie, and she was incredibly accommodating. What really stood out to me was that Tamara was recovering from surgery herself and was still so attentive with Charlie—even still taking her on walks. She kept me updated throughout her visits and sent pictures, which gave me peace of mind. I really appreciated how caring, reliable, and dedicated she was. I would absolutely book with Tamara again and highly recommend her.

FAQs for Pet Sitting - McCook

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
