About: Pet care is my full time job, so I have open availability! I am also a proud owner of a fully trained German Shepard. I’m open to doing dog walking/playtime, day sitting and overnights! I’m a full time student graduating in criminal justice with bachelor degree this coming summer 2027 who is responsible and dependable. All prices are negotiable depending on the needs. I’ve been a pet lover and caretaker since I was 10 years old. I’m 22 yrs old now and a proud owner of a 5 yr old German Shepherd who is fully trained. I believe all animals deserve one on one attention, care, & Love. I care for pets by making sure their basic needs are met first. Along with assuring each pet is happy and are enjoying their time with me. So much that I want them to be excited with just hearing my name. Whether in my home or at a clients home I follow any specific care instructions, maintain a clean space and provide consistent attentions, love and care to help pets feel safe and happy in my presence.
“My Winston absolutely loves it at Kim’s house! He just struts right in like he owns the place. Her pups couldn’t be any sweeter & we feel so lucky we found her . Thanks Rover for making this so easy.”

“My pup had the best time with Nancy, Coffee & family. The fenced in yard was great for her to run around off leash & I felt very comfortable leaving Winnie in Nancy’s care. Winnie played fetch & even received a special treat. Nancy’s family is very friendly & Winnie is excited about her next visit!! Well.. after her long nap! Haha.”

“Monica and Freddy are the best communicators! I really appreciate the updates and pictures. Moira went for a 5 hour daycare day for the first time here and I'm assuming had a ton of fun based off how tired she is now that she's back home haha. I'm sure she's looking forward to her next stay :)”

“Porter had a great time. The pictures with your comments throughout the day were so reassuring that she was in good hands and enjoying her stay. Thank you Kristen for your excellent care!”

“Madison, Remington and Sweet Maggie made our Nyla feel right at home! She was hesitant at first but they were so patient with her. Their home is so warm and welcoming with a perfect little backyard that Nyla could in and out of at leisure. We loved getting all of the sweet photos and videos as well. Nyla was happy and appropriately exhausted when we picked her up. They will be regulars for us for sure!”

“We booked time with Jeremy from Boston for a trip to Mooresville. He was great! We had a good feeling about jeremy before we even met him! He has a lovely home & yard. Was great with communication before, during & after. Highly recommend. Thx Jeremy. We loved his dog too!”

“Erin was great - we dropped 2 standard poodles off for the afternoon/evening while we went to spend Thanksgiving with family. The dogs came home happy and tired! Erin sent several photos of the dogs playing in the yard and that was appreciated. 5 stars good choice if you need a safe fun place for your dog(s) to hang out. Thanks Erin for tiring out two very active dogs.”

About: I have been fostering dogs for 3 years for the Miami Dade Shelter. I fed, cared for, walked, groomed, and administered medicine to dogs who were in my care for 2 weeks to a month and a half. For one year, I volunteered at an Emergency Animal Clinic and learned a variety of skills that aid me in providing the best care for cats and dogs. I groomed dogs, administered vaccines, etc. I have extensive experience in caring for dogs and cats, and love to do so as well. I have owned both for years and never had a moment where I did not enjoy it. I will take care of any animal with attention and love, and commit to any task that is needed I am a pet owner of two dogs; one doberman and one very mixed dog. I give all my time, love, and attention to caring for not just my dogs but every dog I am caring for. I am home daily and make sure that caring for someone else’s pet is my top priority. I typically follow the rules of the owner whether it be in my home or their home. If your pet is not allowed on the furniture then I will not let them on mine. If your pet goes to the bathroom every 3 hours, then I will make sure to take them outside for a walk every 3 hours. I abide by the owners rules for the most effective consistency with behavior, while not forgetting to have fun and make it as enjoyable as I know I can.
About: I have had dogs since I was born. We have had anywhere from 1 to 4 dogs at a time. As a family of four with two working parents, I have always been responsible to care for my dogs in the way they need. I currently work remotely for my full time job. I tend to do some traveling but also have much free time on my hands when I am at home. My two dogs at home are fully potty trained. I am comfortable taking them out on leashes, cleaning up after them, and crating them if needed.

About: "I bring positivity, patience, and love to every pet I care for. I make sure walks are fun, safe, and filled with treats and cuddles—because pets deserve the best!" "I integrate pet care into my routine by making sure every furry friend I watch gets dedicated time every day for walks, play, and companionship. I’m flexible with schedules and can adjust to the needs of each pet." I follow the instructions provided by the pet owner carefully. I ensure pets are fed, walked, and given plenty of attention and playtime. I keep their space clean, provide fresh water, and monitor their health and mood during every visit."
About: We both work from home, fenced in yard, and live on cul-de-sac street. We are not looking to be a kennel so we only allow one additional dog (to our two) so we can give your dog our full attention! There is a dog play area in the neighborhood and lots of sidewalks for regular walks. We have two older children (15 and 16) that have been taught how to be a pack leader so they know how to act around dogs. We have many years of experience watching and caring for dogs and we have met so many amazing dogs and owners through this process. We are still friends with many of them! We are not a kennel but rather a friendly service for a very small number of dogs & their owners who need a short term home for their friend while they are away. This way we can provide maximum attention to each of our furry guests :) All dogs accepted must be kid friendly and fully house trained! We live in an HOA community so no barkers please :) A portion of our proceeds are donated to Project Halo (helping neglected / unwanted dogs find loving homes).

“Jasmine took wonderful care of our dog during several daytime visits. She is highly knowledgeable about dogs, especially those with separation anxiety, and she knows exactly how to handle sensitive situations with calm confidence. Her communication is clear, consistent, and straightforward. She was also extremely accommodating, making sure we felt comfortable and reassured every step of the way. It was clear that our dog was in capable, caring hands. I highly recommend her for both pet sitting and training.”

About: I’ve loved animals my whole life and now that I’m retired and spending time with my grandkids I would like some extra animals in my life! I’m currently providing some help to my daughter transporting kids to and from school and just loving my grandkid time! I’m mostly free and have a very flexible schedule! I have a fenced yard and a park nearby - I do have two sweet Pomeranians of my own who mainly stick to themselves - they aren’t usually interested in a lot of interaction with other dogs. However my daughter, who I’m with often also has two sheepadoodles who would love to play if that is desired!
“Ashley & Alex are amazing! They took such good care of our pup while I was away on a trip. They fed her, loved on her and sent pictures to us the whole way through. We've already booked another stay. We're so grateful to have found this family!”

My specialty is medium to large, active dogs who need exercise. I enjoy running and hiking, so if you have a dog who needs outdoor time, please contact me! I also have experience with sick animals who need special care. I have nursed several dogs back to health, including fosters and the strays who find me. I'm available to visit your home for your pet's needs, to feed, walk, administer medication, as well as provide transportation to vet appointments. Our house has extra rooms to board and babysit pets. There is plenty of space in our yard and neighborhood for walks, running, and playtime. I'm excited to meet you and your pet to see how I can be there for you! I'm a stay-at-home mom to three older/independent kids and a baby. I have worked with rescue dogs with violent backgrounds or stress from the shelter. I can read their body language and make sure they are comfortable with me and our environment. Your dog will stay on a leash unless we are in a fenced area. My backyard is fenced in, and I have a finished basement with kennels if your dog needs a quiet place. My two dogs are very friendly, so if your dog is interested in playing, they will be introduced. My dogs are up-to-date on their vaccines.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Mayhew
Kayla was absolutely fantastic with Nova! From the moment she arrived, it was clear she genuinely cares about animals—Nova warmed up to her quickly and seemed completely comfortable. Kayla followed all my instructions perfectly, kept me updated, and handled everything with so much patience and calm. It was such a relief knowing Nova was in good hands while I was away. I truly appreciated Kayla’s reliability and attention to detail. She went above and beyond to make sure Nova had everything she needed, and Nova came back happy and well cared for. I couldn’t be more grateful, and I will definitely be reaching out to Kayla again the next time I need a dog sitter! ⭐️🐾

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Mayhew commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 1,605 sitters in Mayhew, 86% respond to messages in under an hour.
You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
