“Amelia was great with our gang of three. She was spot on with the notes we left for her, as my in-laws were also very impressed with her. She sent us pictures of them, as we felt comfortable being away those days. When we returned home, everything was nice and neat. There was no panic with the dog and cats, as we usually return home to find fiber lost from their coats. So, they must have been comfortable with them as well. We do know the night we came home; they kept looking at the front door to see if she was returning, again. We look forward to her home services again in the near future. Yes, we would recommend her.”

About: I’ve had and been around pets my whole life and have experience with animals of all sizes. I have house-sat, dog walked, and done routine checking on pets for multiple years for friends and family. I also volunteer at the animal shelter to help animals in need I’m currently working part time and only work a few days a week so I am available almost all the time to check in and help out with animals. My long shifts also contain breaks so I can interact with animals throughout the day even while working. I don’t typically stay overnight for house sitting because of the larger time commitment, but if that is something you are interested in I am able to add a small overnight fee to give your animals the care they need. I know how to handle all kinds of pets in all kinds of sizes and I care for each animal as if it were my own. The safety and health of your animal is my top priority while they are under my care.
“Savanna was wonderful. I have some anxious mom tendencies when it comes to my cat, and she took it all in stride and made me feel confident that Mogwai would be taken care of. Based on the pictures she sent, he warmed up to her real quick. Thanks so much! I'll definitely use Savanna again.”

About: My family adopted a 10 month old rescue pup, Charlie, when I was 7 years old. For the 12 years that I got to spend with him he was my best friend. Although he was stronger than me the first few years of his life, I was still involved in his training and feeding care until I was big enough to take him out and walk him. Once I could handle him, I took him out, walked him, and helped give baths. As an adult, I have done multiple pet-sitting jobs for neighbors and family friends. I have taken care of dogs and cats of all ages. My job experience includes retail, landscaping, and food/bar service. Working late nights in downtown Blacksburg, I have become keen at cleaning up messes of all kinds. This summer, my schedule is wide open! I play pool a couple of nights a week, but that doesn't last for more than a few hours and I can always go late/leave early to get back to the pets. When the school year starts, I will schedule pet sitting around my class schedule. I am equipped to handle dogs of almost any size on a leash, and I love to play fetch in a yard/at the park. I can keep food and water bowls clean and full, I can crate dogs if needed, and I can keep a litter box clean!
“Justice was absolutely fabulous with our two dogs and cat. We know that she took great care of them because when we returned from our trip, they were relaxed and happy. She sent us some pictures and answered every time I sent a message. We would recommend her wholeheartedly.”

“I was amazed at how quickly Chauncey (our rescue dachsshnd) warmed up the Nancye. She has this innate ability to know a dog and his needs, placing that as top priority. She texted with pictures often, I left home for a much needed few days away without a worry at all. HIGHLY recommend and feel sure we'll want Nancye to pet/house sit for us again--SOON!”
About: I’ve taken care of dogs of every kind since I was 12. Neighbors, friends and family have relied on me to walk, feed and bathe their pets. I love animals and i am here to makes sure you pet is happy and healthy while you are gone. I am currently a graduate student in Gainesville and have varying schedule, but l would love to do the most that i can for you and your pet. I live in a house with a spacious yard for walks and play time. I would treat your fur baby as if they were my own, they are in good hands
About: I have cared for pets of all ages over the years and adopted a pup of my own about two years ago. He’s up to date on all vaccinations and loves other dogs. I have experience with giving medications to animals, caring for both puppies and older pups, and my apartment is hardwood floors so accidents aren’t a problem! I am a graduate assistant and in grad school. This means that I word pretty weird hours and I do a lot of work remotely. I’m home anywhere between 8 hours to 24 hours a day and can rearrange my schedule depending on the needs of the animal. There is a dog park nearby and it’s a safe area. For my pup, and pups I’ve boarded/cared for before, I traditionally feed them in the AM and give them plenty of water. We go to the dog park to start the day and get the energy out. I make sure to leave dog-safe toys on the floor so they know they have stuff to play with and I dog proof the apartment before I leave each time so they don’t get into things they shouldn’t. We go out later in the day to the dog park again to socialize or get the zoomies going. We go back and have a little more food or a snack and then hang out before going out on a walk to end the day. I'm working full-time in ministry so I have lots of time throughout the day to care for your loved one and will be gone no more than a few hours per evening for bible studies and groups. I take my dog, Tonka, out 5-6 times per day minimum and we love to go on walks and be outdoors. I have a large field directly behind my apartment and live in a very pet-friendly area tucked off the main road so your pup will enjoy lots of safe and supervised outside time! I allow animals on the furniture and keep all choking hazards up high. My dog has a knack for finding even the smallest things to mess with so I have good practice with keeping a safe home.
“Noah was gret to our cat. He gave him the attention he needed while we were away. He stayed in touch and even sent us some photos. He was also very courteous and even stripped the bed that he stayed in for us so there was one less thing we had to worry about when we got home from our vacation. Highly recommend Noah and would book again.”
“I just can’t say enough good things about Rebecca Peterson. She has a way with dogs. My two Great Danes loved her at first meeting. She’s very responsible as far as giving medicine, yet playful with the dogs. She cuddled with them when they wanted to. House sitting for us was great. We trust her completely. She’s a keeper.”

I take time to understand each pet’s routine, needs, and favorite spots, helping them feel relaxed and happy in their familiar surroundings. I’m committed to open communication, so you’ll always know how your pet is doing while you’re away.
“Rheiya was wonderful! She was so sweet and kind. I have a new puppy, Zumi, who is teething like crazy, and she was beyond understanding as I fight the good fight to break the razor-sharp teeth habit. She sent me pics and walked her every hour. My house was maintained and clearly respected (I have had a not-so-great experience with a previous sitter). She was very professional and communicative. It was clear she loved animals, and my puppy certainly felt loved up on. I really lucked up on finding her on Rover! I will be using her again.”

About: I've recently graduated with a chemistry degree but pets and wildlife make me happy! Animals put a smile on my face so I would love to meet yours! I own 2 cats and took care of our family dog and cats as my weekly "chores" throughout my childhood, so I've been doing this for a long time now. Some other pets that I've owned: rabbits, gerbils, fish, aquatic snails, and a hedgehog. Rest assured that I'm always available to tend to your pet in case of an emergency. I'm available nearly any time because I set my own work schedule, and it is usually flexible for me to show up for something when needed. I can also switch things around when necessary. I'm flexible to work with. I'm more than happy to send picture updates and to take care of any special needs that your pet(s) might have! I will always be there to attend to their needs on schedule and will treat them with the same love and care that my own pets receive.
“Gracie is wonderful! She is very knowledgeable about dogs and their behaviors, and made sure our dogs had a good time while we were away. She sent lots of pictures so we would know they were in good hands and we’ll definitely have her back again.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 336 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Maybrook. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Maybrook walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Maybrook maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Maybrook choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Maybrook. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
