“Troy did a fantastic job sitting for our Golden Retriever, Dory, while we were away for the weekend. He also took care of feeding the fish in our aquarium and attending to a few household items that went above and beyond what we expected him to do. So glad to have Troy on call through Rover to help with our pet sitting needs.”

“Karlee was great with our 4-1/2 month-old Frenchton puppy for a weekend in-home stay. She kept us up to date and made us feel completely comfortable leaving our young puppy with her for the weekend. Would highly recommend her!”

“Mallory was so wonderful to our Izze and Maggie. I appreciated the daily communication and photo updates. This was the first time we went away and didn’t have the worries of them being taken care of to our standards, she certainly exceeded those.”

“Morgan was very friendly and receptive of all the house sitting instructions I provided. She took great care of my anxious dog Athea and my three cats, even on last-minute booking. I will definitely be rebooking and would recommend her to others :)”

“Amie was very professional, kind and helpful! Our pets were lovingly cared for, and our little dog Oscar was relaxed and content when we arrived home from our vacation. Amie took care of our home like it was her own, and she was excellent at communicating while we were out of town. We felt very pampered by her expertise and care for our pets and our home!”

“Mykala was amazing! Our pets were not great for her - the cats created havoc while she was at work, knocking things over and breaking things as cats sometimes do. She handled the situation in a very professional manner. She was very responsive and we always felt that our pets were in great hands. We would hire her again in a heartbeat.”

“Anissa was an AMAZING dog/house sitter. She was super communicative about the good and the bad. (Unfortunately my dog had an allergy flare up while I was gone and she noticed it immediately and let me know. She even researched some over the counter treatments and purchased the meds and administered them for me!) I really felt like she was in tune with my dogs and paid super close attention to their well being. Not only was she excellent to my dogs, I came home to an immaculate home. It was cleaner than it was when I left! She took such good care of my home, plants, and belongings. I will 100% have Anissa back the next time I'm out of town! THANK YOU ANISSA <3!”

“Casey was fantastic! I appreciated her communication ahead of tome and pre-meeting us and then updates and pictures throughout the visit. Will definitely be scheduling again!”

About: I've always had a passion for animals even since when I was a little girl. Growing up, my family always some sort of animal in the house, but the animals that really impacted my life was a German Shepherd Corgi and Husky mix named Noah and I had a cat named Meow Meow. They were both my best friends and were so protective and sweet. They are reason why I care about animals and am interested in working with animals. I can do anything such as feeding, changing water, administering medication, letting them go potty/ cleaning litter boxes, and of course providing all the cuddles. I would love to chat and to meet your animals and give them the best care that they deserve! I am a student in college, at Southwestern Michigan College but I am taking classes online. All I need is wifi. So, I am really available any day and time! I will provide a safe, secure and loving environment for all breeds I pet sit. My care will leave pet parents confident in my ability to care for their pet in positive ways that meet the pet needs and more some.
About: I've had dogs for as long as I can remember. My dad used to help help run a rescue for several years, and we had many dogs of varying breeds and ages in our home. I currently have one dog named Alvin who was born in 2022. He is a yellow lab with a lot of energy! I am venturing into the working world, and this is my only role. My availability is wide open and I'm willing to help when needed! I have a small fenced in area under our deck where my dog relieves himself. I go for walks and there is a dog park very close to the house. My dog has extreme crate anxiety, so he isn't created. I am comfortable helping to ensure your pet is created as necessary.
About: I love, love, love animals! I currently volunteer at the SPCA in Kalamazoo and it’s something I look forward to every week! I also have a 2 year old Irish doodle who loves making new friends! I grew up with 2 golden doodles and my love for animals is infinite. I love going on walks, working on skills, playing ball, ect! My apartment complex also has a dog park and dog spa (bathing place) if needed! They will be loved and provided by a happy environment when being cared by me! I’m currently working part time, so I’ll have plenty of time to spend at home! Pet care fits perfectly into my schedule, and I love spending time with them, it’s something I truly enjoy. For safety, I’ll always walk your pup on a leash when going potty or going on a walk. I also make sure doors and gates are securely closed, and I monitor your pet at all times during visits. I prioritize safety, cleanliness, and trust in every home!
About: I volunteer at a shelter almost weekly, so I have tons of experience with different dog breeds and knowledge of administering pills and eye/ear drops! I work part-time currently, so I’m available Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I can also check in on Saturday and Sunday depending on the time when I work! I have two lovely smaller dogs at home that are crate trained and they get walked daily and are taken to the dog park weekly.
“My dog was very afraid of being left alone with a stranger and Natalie did an amazing job of almond him and becoming his new best friend! She kept in constant contact with me. She put forth great effort to make Arlo comfortable. I’m so glad I found her!”

FAQs for House Sitting - Marcellus
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 428 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Marcellus. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Marcellus walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Marcellus maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Marcellus choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Marcellus. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
