“Lindsay was very professional and was very good at looking after our kitties while we were gone. She provided regular photos and written updates and got our kitties to trust and spend time with her in a short amount of time. I would highly recommend her without any reservations. She also alerted us when a tree fell in our yard. She is the best!”

“Dawn was amazing! She came over for a meet and greet before and took great care of Skipper while we were gone. She went above and beyond to make sure he had everything he needed and had a fun time.”

“Best experience ever! Wendy came by for a meet and and greet before she took care of Riley, then showed up exactly at the time we discussed. Wendy greeted Riley, made sure she ate, and then went for a nice walk, and then even sent us a few pictures! Will definitely use Wendy again! Thanks for your help, it allowed us to enjoy a fun day in Key West and not have to worry about our Riley!”

About: I’ve had to help take care of dogs my entire life… Growing up, our family always had larger breeds of dogs which taken care of was part of my responsibilities in my adult life. I have had my own dogs… I currently do not have any dogs though. I currently work full-time as a teacher, but I have flexibility to come home during the day. and I am finished each day by 2:30 I live in an apartment under a house with a very large yard, but not fenced in… My landlord‘s upstairs do have a big Doberman, but he is super friendly. I can only accommodate pet friendly dogs at my home.
“Julie was great with our 2 pups. Both of our dogs were somewhat timid in our vacation rental, but Julie came walked, played with them and even managed to get them to eat. We were worried about leaving them in unfamiliar surroundings, but she eased all of our fears with good communication and even some photos. She was fantastic for our family.”

About: I have always been a pup enthusiast, I grew up with a huge black lab, Luke. He was the best dog ever, I’d love to take him for walks and play! As an adult I have many dog friends, my sister has the most beautiful pit bull Sadie. I’ll go to her house when I’m in town and take the dog out, Sadie loves when I’m around!! My boyfriend’s parents have two massive Great Danes, we walk them and take care of them all the time. I just have a huge heart for all of our four legged friends. I’ve never met a dog that didn’t like me. I’m extremely responsible and cautious while walking and playing. I’m a bartender so most days I’m free and would love to spend the off time walking and caring for animals. Exercise for both of us. I am extremely responsible and reliable. Always courteous and respectful. I would care for any animal as if it were my own, and treat them and my surroundings with the upmost respect.
About: Hi there! My name is Taylor, and I recently graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a degree in Biology. I’ve been pet sitting for over 8 years, starting back in high school, and I absolutely love spending time with animals of all kinds! I have experience caring for pets of all ages, sizes, and training levels—including dogs, cats, and more. I am currently a summer intern at the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, where I care for sea turtles on a daily basis. While I’m unable to provide in-home boarding, I offer drop-in visits and overnight stays in your home to keep your pets comfortable in their own environment. I'm based in Surf City but happy to travel to nearby areas. I'd love the opportunity to meet your furry (or scaly!) loved ones. Looking forward to connecting with you soon! Pet care fits easily into my daily routine. I’m available for in-home stays or drop-in visits and can provide walks and care before work (around 7 AM), during lunch (around noon), and after work (around 4 PM). I also have availability throughout the evening and overnight, making it easy for me to accommodate a variety of schedules and pet needs! As a summer intern currently staying in provided housing, I'm not able to offer in-home boarding. However, I'm very comfortable caring for pets in their own homes and have extensive experience with both drop-in visits and overnight stays. I make sure to follow each pet’s routine closely and provide plenty of attention, playtime, and care to keep them happy and comfortable while you're away! It is very important to me that you are confident your pet is taken care of with no worries, so I like to send frequent updates and photos as well. It's also very important to me that my clients come home to a clean, tidy house—just the way they left it.
About: I’ve taken care of many many family owned pets since I was a little kid. They are just like family! I know they stole your heart, let them steal mine too. I provide nothing but the best of care. Overall your pets will get all of my attention and kept happy with lots of play time, loving, and treats!
About: I have worked with animals professionally for 5 years, but also have 20 years of experience with my own pets. I have a deep love and respect for animals. I work a full time job as a dolphin trainer with inconsistent hours depending on time of year, but my days off are Wednesdays and Thursdays. Most other days I am available before 9am and after 6pm. My current living situation does not allow for me to care for animals in my own home, however I am open to caring to animals in the client’s home. I understand the importance of maintaining a clean space and respecting the boundaries set forth by the client. Please note for house sitting jobs that I do work a full time job Friday through Tuesday so on those days potty breaks would be before work (around 9am) and after work (around 6:30 pm). Wednesdays and Thursdays are my off days so I am available for more frequent potty breaks/play sessions.
About: I have grown up with dogs, and have also helped with taking care of litters of puppies and their mommas. Dogs are more like my friends than people. A-Z services with quality guaranteed. I’ve spent 4 years in the veterinary field, actively learning and taking my education further. What better way to offset an income then to be around the most joyous part of my day, all day! I’m an equal opportunist and love everyone’s fur babies as I would my own. After all, pets are better than people! My walks are thorough and my sitting services attentive. I offer extra services such as bathing and park visits. If you’re going to entrust someone, then entrust me! I am self employed and get to choose my own schedule. A little extra income between my own daily to-do’s fits my lifestyle! Thanks for your consideration I can take care of your animals in your home the same as I would in my own. I can adequately administer injectable’s subcutaneously and intramuscular. Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
