“Chandar and his family are like a second home and family to Ruth. They truly love dogs and care for Ruth as if she’s their own (she’s already had 3 stays with them). And Ruth loves them, too!! They are so good to her and spoil her with belly rubs and miles-long sunrise and sunset walks. Chandar sends professional grade photos of Ruth with beautiful, artistic, and often charming backdrops (e.g., a hot air balloon, Princeton campus, dog zodiac statute). Chandar’s family is so welcoming, warm, and kind and it’s always a pleasure to see them when we drop off or pick up Ruth. They have also been incredibly accommodating, welcoming Ruth on short notice or letting her stay late. So happy that we met them!”

“Awesome! Jean, is excellent! We left our 7-year-old Labradoodle for the first time with Jean for an extended weekend. She treated Simba as if he was her own dog and sent us pics of their wonderful time together multiple times a day. Simba loved it and felt at home. We are so glad we found Jean as she will be our go-to person moving forward.”

“Jessica took amazing care of our Izzie while we were away. She sent lots of regular updates and photos to help us know Izzie was doing well and having lots of fun with other dogs. Would highly recommend!”

“Holly and DK were wonderful! Extremely professional and warm. They took great care of our pup while we were gone for the week. Highly recommend their care.”

“I have a 12 yr cockapoo who requires daily medication. Noria has been our overnight sitter since April 2024. She only takes one dog in addition to her own sweet Milo. Noria is incredibly kind, smart, professional, loves dogs and has a gentle/loving way in interacting with my Kobe. She has been truly a blessing to find! My family and I are assured that when we leave Kobe for an overnight with Noria that he is being cared for as if he is part of her family. Kobe can be an anxious dog and slow to warm up to people. She has a patient and playful disposition. From the first time he met her he was happy, calm and it was evident that he felt secure in her care. The medication and feeding instructions have always been followed and understood. We appreciate the photos she sends and the updates as to how he is doing. Noria is a genuine individual who has been a complete joy for our family to work with. We are so happy that she has been caring for Kobe. When we go away we know he looks forward to his time with Noria and Milo!”

“Scott continues to do an amazing job as a dog sitter for our dog Odysseus. Our dog has surgery and he is more anxious now. I was nervous about him staying someplace overnight again but we trust Scott and again he did not disappoint. He is so caring about animals in general. Shows so much compassion and love. Honestly, if you need a sitter or care in the area for your pets Scott is it! Thank you so much Scott!”

“Working with Dhruvit and his family was an absolute pleasure. Genuinely nice people who allowed us to enjoy our vacation without worrying about our precious pups. We were sent pictures every day showing how well they were taken care of. We will definitely count on Dhruvit to take care of our pups again!”

“Our 2 year old brittany BUDDY had a wonderful time at Nikki's. We were concerned about leaving him for 3 weeks but Nikki's place is the best getaway your fur baby can get. Buddy made a wonderful group of friends and we received loads of photographs and videos everyday. Will definitely come back.”

“Suneetha provided amazing care to our fur baby Rocky and gave us daily updates. This was our first long trip away from him and knowing he was being loved and cared for like her own gave us peace of mind. We would book with Suneetha again!”

“Anita and Jim took great care of my girl Loretta. I could tell from the pictures Anita sent that she was happy and got regular activity. I've already booked her next stay at their house!”
“Barbara really went the extra mile to make sure our dogs we’re cared for! She provided multiple updates a day and made sure they had plenty of play time. Definitely would recommend!”

“Jazmine (and her boyfriend Norman) took wonderful care of our 12-year-old black Lab, Judy, who is a cancer survivor and a bit particular—sweet, but needy and not a fan of other dogs. Jazmine cared for her in her home, made sure she had her morning medicine, and sent us daily updates with snuggle photos that made us feel completely at ease. Judy was clearly loved and beautifully looked after. Warm, professional, and trustworthy—highly recommend.”

“I appreciate Samantha’s diligence in dealing with our last minute dilemmas. Spencer seemed to have had a lovely visit with her & Coco. He appeared happy & at ease in the pics she shared. I would certainly recommend her as a sitter of the highest quality…”

“Kim is a saint. We have a geriatric dog that is stubborn and grumpy. She made him feel comfortable and progressed on his schedule. I’m grateful for her patience, comfort, and regular updates and photos while I was away. She’s a true gentle soul.”

“We left Rudy with this lovely family and received lots of updates (with photos) from Savi every few hours. I could read from Rudy's gesture that he is enjoying his stay.”

“Another fantastic stay with Ahmad. Our golden was well cared for and Ahmad is extremely kind and communicative. He sent pics of our Winnie and was always there when we sent a message. 10/10”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
