“Andrew pays great attention to my fur babies and when I come home I can tell that he has paid attention to them and given them the best care. So grateful to have someone to rely on when I travel and work late”

“Justina was amazing with Dune!! He is a rescue and new to the household. He can be a bit of a scaredy cat, and it’s clear he loved her. She took him on multiple walks and followed my crazy dog mom instructions! Will definitely book again.”

“M is our absolute favorite person to stay with our dog. In addition to the excellent care she gives, M does the little extra things that make being away from home easier. We are so very grateful to have met M and highly recommend her!”

“Absolutely wonderful! This was our first stay with her and already booked her to watch our dogs again in the future. She put us at ease with leaving her with our anxious girl but she gave them both so much love. Great at communicating and sending updates/photos!”

“Crystal is great with my very senior dog. She is trustworthy and dependable and puts my mind at ease when I am away. I would absolutely recommend Crystal for overnight care in the home.”

“Claire bonded with Niki the minute she walked in the door. As I was leaving for the day it was evident that Claire was more focused on Niki and the fun ahead then my exit.”

“We are so happy we found Brittni to watch our pets over the holiday weekend! She was eager to help during a last minute booking, was very responsive, and we came home to happy pets that were well taken care of while we were away. We will definitely book her again for future trips. Thank you Brittni!!”

“Melissa was fabulous. In advance of our trip, Melissa came to meet Wally, Poppy and Rosie (our dog and cats). Melissa was very comfortable with all three of them. Rosie pretty immediately climbed in her lap. We knew we needed somebody special since Rosie, one of the cats, needs special care including oral and transdermal meds. Melissa was prepared to handle that. While we were gone Melissa sent daily updates and photos. Seeing the way all three of them around her, I knew they were in great hands. I really do think Melissa is the best.”

“We're so thankful we found Robert! As a bit of a neurotic pet parent, and with a whole bunch of special circumstances, we were worried we'd have a hard time trusting anyone to take care of our babies. From the first meet and greet we got a great sense of comfort from Robert, and even the dogs were comfortable with him almost immediately. He was able to take care of our paralyzed 19-year old and kept our other two separate due to behavior issues. We couldn't be happier and would 100% recommend Robert!”

“Jessica was great! Helped us out in a pinch by dog sitting our pooch at our apartment. Super friendly and easy to communicate with. We had one happy dog that night! Def recommend!”

“Dave is the absolute best. I know our pup gave him a run for the money this time but he handled everything with ease and continues to be a great help and communicator. Thanks again for everything!”

“The first of two great stays! Our pets loved her and she took wonderful care and spent hours each day with them keeping them calm and I know they loved her the minute she came by to meet them. Ours are socially anxious with new people, but they immediately loved her. She kept our home clean and tidy and we felt very safe and confident.”
“Hands down, Guinevere has been the best dog sitter we’ve ever had. She responded in a very timely manner, kept us updated on how our three dogs were doing and sent many pictures. Two of our dogs normally go on a hunger strike when we leave, but this was no problem with Guinevere there. She even won over our crabby dog! House was left cleaner than when we left. We’re excited to book with Guinevere again in the near future.”

“Dani was a wonderful Dogsitter for my dog Lola. She kept me in the loop with any questions or concerns along the way since this was her first time at my home with my dog. She did a magnificent job. I would absolutely use her again.”

About: I have been a pet care provider through a private company for 10 years, but my passion for pets started long before that. My first pet experience was with cats, which I have owned and cared for since the age of 5. My first dog was a Belgian Malinois, followed by two yellow labs, which gave me a love for bigger dogs. I raised and trains all of my dogs from puppy to adulthood. However, I have worked extensively with all breeds including pit bulls, chihuahuas, terriers, golden retrievers, and mastiffs, and German Shepards. Therefore, I am very adaptable to all types of dog breeds. My aim is to be as individualized and specialized to each owner and pets needs and expectations. Walking, drop ins, and training 7 days a week. Pet sitting/house sitting: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday I am unavailable Wednesdays and Thursdays 2:30-10 pm I match how the pets are cared for in each of my clients homes. Again, my aim is to ensure my services are individualized to the client and pets needs. I would want to maintain the same standard of care to ensure maximum comfortability.
“Phoebe is an amazing dog / house sitter. Great communication and took great care of our home and our dogs. As long as she is available, she will be our go to person when we go on vacation.”

“Gabrielle was amazing with all 4 of our fur babies while we were away in vacation. She sent daily updates and pictures so communication was great. Not too much and not too little. She was even able to get some love from our highly antisocial kitty. I will definitely be reaching out again when we need her again!! Thank you Again Gabby!”

“Without a doubt, the best dog/house sitter we’ve ever had and found her on three days notice!!!! Our two (high energy, somewhat timid, not perfectly trained but absolutely loveable) Aussies adored Jackie! We received regular updates by text and above and beyond offers to help around the house while we were away - including taking both large dogs to the groomers!! Came home to an impeccably clean house AND laundered sheets! 10 out of 10 would recommend!!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Lanark
Jayden watched our two German Shepherds for a week while we were on vacation, and we couldn't have been happier with the experience. She was extremely communicative throughout our trip, keeping us updated on how the dogs were doing, sharing pictures, and making sure we had peace of mind while we were away. She took them on walks daily, sometimes even twice a day, and went above and beyond by bringing in our packages as well. We returned home to happy pups and a spotless house, which was such a wonderful surprise! One of our dogs is especially rambunctious, so we were a little nervous since we'd never had anyone other than family care for them. However, Jayden handled everything perfectly and did an amazing job with both dogs. We are so grateful for her care and attention, and we will absolutely be using her again in the future. Highly recommend!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lanark walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lanark maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lanark choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
