Paris took great care of my sometimes anxious dog. She also looked after my fish and chickens. She clearly cares about the animals she watches and goes above and beyond to make sure they’re well looked after.

Kathryn was amazing with our senior Golden over the Holiday break. She even took the initiative to research and purchase some doggie socks and hot spot medicine for a hot spot on her foot we have been trying to get rid of. Our neighbor even ran into Kathryn on a walk and couldn’t stop talking about how wonderful she was and wanted her number for her pups. I’m so thankful I found someone I trust and feel so comfortable with in my home with my Daisy. Will definitely book her again for our next trip!

Allie was great! I booked it the same day, and she was very flexible with times. She took great care of my two pups in my hotel room. I love taking my dogs on work trips, but it’s difficult finding someone you can trust too. I highly recommend Allie.

Holly took good care of our senior dog Bear. Communicated daily on how he was doing. She genuinely cares and is very knowledgeable about dogs. Bear even gave her kisses (and it takes him a while to warm up to anyone).

I had a house/dog sitter lined up but the had a family emergency and bailed on 6 days before I was leaving town. After searching, begging, and panicking, I got a response for Shea who was on board with the work and timeframe! He was very communicative, sending me messages regularly and responding quickly. He kept in the loop about my pets (dog and hamsters). And, one of the most important factors for me, he was kind and enjoyed being with the animals. He has experience with dogs so knows how to work with them and my dog behaved well and listened to him. When we got back my dog was a little confused - this was the first time we had ever left her with another person so we knew that she would be and Shea hung out a few minutes and we talked about some of the many many things he does while we acclimated a bit. My dog has an abuse history but with Shea she wasn't jumpy at all, she was comfortable and felt safe - that alone was a huge sign to me - just seeing how she reacted after a week with him and she was happy, comfortable, and calm. Oh and he pointed out an owie she got while we were gone so we could get it taken care of. Thanks Shea! I highly recommend him to others looking for someone!

About: I grew up with dogs, cats, bunnies and chickens and love all animals! I have done variety of dog sitting and cat sitting, and have even cared for neighbors horses! I am currently waiting for my Speech-Langauge pathology license to be verified (which typically takes about 3 months) as I just graduated, so I am free as a bird until then! I value your pets safety, and will keep them out of harms way! This can look like staying on the opposite of the street from other dogs who look untrustworthy when going on walks, or simply making sure that all food is pushed away from the edges of countertops !

If there were 10 stars to give, Mayumi would get all. She was fabulous! She bathed my baby regularly, took her for walks, sent me photos and videos, and when I came home, my home was as I left it and Saji was in happy spirits, well-fed and healthy. I will definitely keep Mayumi as my prime contact for when I need someone to care for Saji. I highly recommend her!

Claudia was wonderful! Our pup is always a little nervous with new people but by day 2 she was snuggled up with Claudia. She sent frequent photos and updates, was great at keeping Kaya on her regular schedule, helped out with other household tasks and left the house clean. I appreciate knowing that Kaya is being well taken care of because it allows me to enjoy my vacation! Kaya will be looking forward to her next stay with Claudia.

About: 🐾 Loving Pet Care in a Safe, Comfortable Home 🏡💛 Hi! I’m a lifelong animal lover who truly lights up around dogs and cats of all kinds. I’ve had pets my entire life—including Shar-Peis, Labs, Dachshunds, Scotties, puppies, and multi-pet households—so I’m comfortable with all breeds, sizes, ages, and personalities. I work from home, which means your pet receives plenty of attention, supervision, companionship, and love throughout the day. Whether your dog loves playtime and adventures or prefers relaxing on the couch for cuddles, I adapt to their individual needs and routine. 🏡 About My Home Your pet will enjoy a safe, loving environment with: • A large, fully fenced yard for supervised outdoor play • A clean, calm home with lots of affection and attention • Access to nearby walking trails and a dog park • A safe, gated community with quiet streets for walks • No pets of my own or children, allowing me to focus completely on your pet Pets are welcome on furniture and are treated like family. If your dog enjoys snuggling on the couch or curling up nearby, they'll feel right at home. 🐾 My Experience • Lifelong dog owner and animal lover • Experienced with puppies, adults, and senior dogs • Comfortable with multi-pet households • Experienced caring for cats, birds, and reptiles (at cat parent’s home) • Familiar with administering medications and following detailed care instructions • Strong understanding of pet behavior, routines, and positive reinforcement 💛 My Care Philosophy I believe pets thrive with consistency, structure, patience, and lots of love. I follow your pet's normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, medications, and favorite activities. I keep my bookings limited so every pet receives personalized attention, affection, and quality care. 🐕 Services Offered ✔ Dog Boarding ✔ Doggy Day Care ✔ Dog Walking ✔ Drop-In Visits ✔ House Sitting ✔ Cat Care & Drop-Ins ✔ Bird & Reptile Care 🚗 Pickup & Drop-Off Available For your convenience, I can provide pickup and drop-off service for daycare or boarding appointments for an additional fee. This is perfect for busy schedules or early departures. 📸 Extra Peace of Mind I’m happy to send photo and video updates during your pet’s stay so you can relax knowing they’re happy, safe, and well cared for. Your pet is never "just a booking" to me—they become part of the family while they're in my care. I look forward to meeting you and your furry family member and creating a safe, loving, and stress-free experience for everyone involved.. I currently work part-time from home, which provides a flexible schedule and ample time to care for your pets. I’m available on weekdays and weekends, and I’m happy to adjust my routine to fit your pet’s needs. Whether it’s walks, playtime, feeding, or cuddles, I ensure your pet receives consistent attention, care, and companionship throughout the day. Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priority. I have a fully fenced yard for safe outdoor time and live in a quiet, gated community with plenty of walking areas. I’m happy to follow your pet’s routine closely and adjust to their specific needs, whether that includes crate training, extra supervision, or special care instructions. I can take dogs to a local dog park for exercise and socialization (if approved), and I always ensure pets feel secure and relaxed. I’m also happy to provide a cozy, loving environment—including plenty of cuddles and even letting your pet sleep nearby if that’s what they’re used to.

We would work with Jenilee again. She did a meet & greet and asked good questions before we went out of town. She sent photos of the pets each day and was flexible with our return time on her last daysince we were driving. She kept us updated and cleaned up after one of the dogs got into the garbage. She also responded to text messages and questions before and during her stay.

About: I took care of 'Beau', a very large white American Retriever. He is the sweetest! I was temporary mom to Elsie, a huuuuuge Great Dane lady. You can see images of me and Elsie in my profile. I took care of a home and Chester (Tabby Male Kitty), Luna (Black Female Kitty) and their dog sister SnoBella. I watched these 3 for several months while their mama was recovering from illness. You can see images of SnoBella, Chester, Luna and I walking. The kitties loved to walk with SnoBella and me. I am also a plant mom. My own home — which is cared for by my daughter when I'm gone — contains 3 indoor trees and over 10 live plants, as well as a Gardyn indoor garden. I consider my plants also sort of my babies and will take care of yours as well. I work remotely, which allows me to spend much of the day with the pets in my care. Because I'm home throughout the day, I can provide companionship, maintain their normal routine, and keep a close eye on their well-being. Many pets enjoy relaxing nearby while I work, whether that's a cat curled up in my lap or a dog snoozing by my desk. If your pet is allowed outside I sometimes enjoy sitting on the patio and letting them roam the yard while I work. I keep pets on their normal routine as much as possible. My day includes feeding, fresh water, litter box cleaning or potty breaks, playtime, walks, and plenty of affection. Since I work remotely, pets often keep me company throughout the day, whether that's a cat in my lap or a dog at my feet. If approved by the pet parent, I'm also happy to let pets sleep with me so they feel safe and comfortable while you're away.

FAQs for House Sitting - La Jolla Amago

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 2,634 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across La Jolla Amago. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred La Jolla Amago walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in La Jolla Amago maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in La Jolla Amago choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in La Jolla Amago. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 99% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
