“Paula is a wonderful, trustworthy sitter :) we left our puppy in her care for a week and have also dropped him off for daycare many times. She always provides detailed information about his day and even has offered suggestions/adjustments about behavior modification if needed.”

“Lola had a wonderful time with Svitlana. Svitlana clearly loves dogs and took such good care of my dog. She sent updates with photos and videos regularly to let us know how Lola was doing. I would definitely book again!”

“Hillary was fantastic! Whaley stayed with her for 10 days and we received continuous communication and pictures. He was even hesitant to leave her house when we went to pick him up because he was so happy there.”

“Our dog Jasper had a great stay with Brianne! She was so sweet to him and it seems like he went on lots of hikes and walks- he came home very happy & tired :-) She was very easy to work with, flexible, responsive and sent a few nice pics of their adventures each day. Thanks Brianne! We will be back :-)”

“Heather & her family were a great match for Mía. From the Meet & Greet, to drop off, asking how to best care for her, and pick up…they were responsive, informative, and caring. Thank you!”

“Ellie had an awesome stay with Julie and her family! She came home happy and tired and we would definitely use Julie and her family again to watch Ellie in the future!”

“Alexandra and Logan were wonderful with my (sometimes overly) curious terrier, Eddie! I am always concerned about Eddie escaping to chase an animal, and they took my concerns seriously and took steps to ensure that wouldn't happen. Their fence setup was great too - the fenced-in yard wraps all the way around the house, so even if a dog slipped out of the house, they would still be in the yard. On top of that, they sent lots of pictures and were so kind to Eddie. He didn't want to leave!”

“Was nervous since this was the first time leaving my dog Jace. Robin really made me feel comfortable and reassured he was in good hands. Kept me updated every day with pictures. Diffinatly recommended her to everyone.”

“Laura was so accommodating. My other sitter canceled the morning of and Laura was able to watch my pup the same day. She even came home from work during lunch to meet at my scheduled pickup time. She sent lots of pics during Rocky’s stay and even gave him a mini report card so I could see how he did. Definitely recommend!!!”

“Amanda was great with our puppy, Pampa. We got lots of updates on how she was doing and was very easy to communicate with. Her dog Theo was great with Pampa too, you could tell they had a lot of fun together over her stay. Would definitely recommend Amanda for anyone looking for a dog sitter! We’ll be sure to use her in the future as well.”

“Amy did an amazing job taking care of our Luna! She did a great job communicating updates with plenty of pictures and videos. Luna got to go on hikes and became best friends with Amy’s sweet dog, Sylvie too! Amy had great attention to detail- Luna is a poodle so we always pack a brush in case it’s needed, but have no specific expectations with it, since it’s definitely labor of love! Amy is the first Rover sitter to actually brush her! We would highly recommend Amy to anyone looking to board their pup!”

“We left our rescue dog, Archie, with Charissa over Thanksgiving weekend. All we can say is that right from the get go, we knew we'd made the right decision. Charissa immediately put us at ease that all of our dog's quirks would be sensitively handled. To give one example, knowing that Archie can be a bit frantic when meeting new dogs, Charissa made sure he had time to adjust to his new surroundings before meeting any other pooches. Over the course of his stay, Archie had a great time - photo updates showed him playing fetch and hanging out with other dogs. When we came to pick him up, he was energetic and happy; a testament to how much he enjoyed his stay. All in all, we can't recommend Charissa enough. Thanks for taking such good care of Archie.”

“Gretchen was incredibly responsive, supportive, & communicative — especially for a last-minute request. If I’m in the area again and need a dog sitter, I will definitely reach out; the care from her community of neighbors was incredible! I particularly appreciated their transparency & consideration for Bugs’ needs.”

“Paige was amazing with my dog Maggie! She had so much fun with Paige’s dogs and I loved getting regular photo and video updates. Maggie came home happy and tired from all the playtime. Thank you, Paige!”

“Tiffanie loved my dog, took the best care of him, and I knew that by the way he interacted with her upon my return. She communicated regularly, gave him plenty of exercise and attention, and gave me the reassurance of knowing that he was well taken care of while I was away. I will absolutely rely on her again and would recommend her to everyone!”

“Ashley was the perfect Rover host! Our dog Jake didn’t seem like he wanted to leave! Would highly recommend her for anyone in the Charlottesville area. Thanks!”

I love any + all animals— they’re my “people”. I currently work mornings- 2pm ish Monday Tuesday and Friday so can come for afternoon walks/visits! I’m available Monday thru Friday. Available some weekends with prior notice if is suits. I have plenty of dog leash walking experience + can keep my eye on your pups! We love to host dogs in our home as it gives us the little bit of love to go around without the need of getting more of our own.

“This was Charlie’s second stay with Alyssa & Sean. They were fantastic again, and you can tell Charlie was well taken care of while we were away. They sent daily updates with pictures and some videos. Charlie enjoys his time with them, and they are definitely 5-star sitters!”

Ashley was great for us! She was very responsive and provided lots of updates/photos for us which we loved to see. She did a great job accommodating our injured dog and ensuring he was able to keep his activity level low while also keeping him engaged inside the house with enrichment activities. He was fully exhausted when he got home from a great stay with her.

Cody had such a wonderful stay! They were incredibly sweet and attentive to him, and I could tell he was really loved and well cared for. They were flexible with pickup, communicated well throughout his stay, and sent adorable pictures that made me so happy to see. When Cody ran out of food, they let me know right away so I could get it taken care of. He got lots of cuddles and attention, and honestly, I don’t think he even wanted to leave! He came home happy and relaxed, which is everything I could ask for. I’d absolutely trust them with Cody again and highly recommend them!

Absolutely fantastic experience. She really took into consideration my dog's personality and what my dog would need during the weekend. She provided me with consistent updates and photos and when I came to get my dog she was excited to see me but not anxious to leave. It honestly could not have been any better.

Kate and Tyler were SO attentive, communicative, and caring for Jasper. They have a huge yard where he could run like crazy, fun toys, and walking trails nearby where he got to experience all the sniffs. He and Penny got along well together. Kate’s and Tyler’s house is clean and tidy, and they have great energy. I am so grateful to have found them for caring for my hound, Jasper! Thanks, guys!!🙏

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Knollwood home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Knollwood.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Knollwood sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
