“Great communication and experience with Chloe - did an amazing job during an overnight sitting so that we could enjoy a rare “date night” over in Seattle. Nice updates and photos during our absence. Will use again!”

“As a somewhat anxious, first-time Rover user, Sophia immediately put me at ease with her friendly, professional demeanor and desire to make a connection with my cat upon our first meeting. I left on vacation feeling confident that my pet was well cared for. Sophia kindly sent photos and updates to ensure that my cat was adjusting well in my absence. I returned to a happy cat and home just as I left it. I would, without reservation, happily recommend Sophia for pet care needs.”

“Wendy was absolutely fantastic to work with. She was very caring and understanding about our anxiety ridden dog. She was available on such short notice when our plans changed last minute for our upcoming vacation. Kaylee surprised all of us by warming up to Wendy almost immediately at the meet and greet we did and from what it sounds like, happy to see Wendy and her little pup Honeypie show up on the first day. She sent pictures throughout our trip and was great at sending us updates. We will definitely be booking with Wendy again on any future trips we take! Hopefully well in advance next time 😉”

About: I’ve fostered dogs with the company Animal pad in San Diego, I adopted one of those dogs and I volunteer for the Kitsap humane society. I’m recently out of the Navy and about to start school. Looking for short term income where I can have a flexible schedule on the new journey in my life. I will make sure your pet feels safe and cared for while you are away and send plenty of cute pictures so you know they are cared for so you can enjoy your time.
About: I've been a lifelong pet owner, surrounded by dogs, cats, guinea pigs, and hamsters throughout my childhood. These days, I hang out with my 15 year old senior pup, who holds a special place in my heart. I promise to give your fur-kids the same love and attention. I love meeting new pets and their owners! Meet & Greets are the perfect opportunity to chat about your pet’s unique needs, quirks, and personalities—ensuring they receive the best care possible while you’re away. This is my full-time work as I recently retired from the practice of law. I garden and walk my pup everyday and can definitely fit your fur-kids into my day! I will be sure your animals are cared for and safe! I would definitely like to know their habits, favorite things, etc so I can make you being away easier for them with their routine!
“Amy is amazing! Our little dog Henry instantly bonded with her. She was quick to respond to any questions we had and even came to meet Henry ahead of time. We felt confident and secure leaving our little guy with her.”

“Cassie came to walk and feed Stella as planned, and sent regular updates as well as taking out the trash for us and generally checking on the house. Stella was very comfortable!”

“Lisa has watched our pup several times and she always goes above and beyond! She spends so much time playing with him, sends great pictures and videos, and leaves our home spotless! Our pup is reactive and not great on walks so she took him on a special sniff spot visit this trip to give him a fun outing. We love Lisa!!”

“Autumn was wonderful. Pax loved her immediately, it’s how she interacts with him that made him feel comfortable and safe in the first second of meeting. Autumn is very quick to respond and we love the updates and pictures.”
“Heather was great with our pups! She came and spent the weekend with them, made sure they were well taken care of and sent lots of pictures! She even went out of her way and took them to the park so they could run and play with each other! Definitely would recommend and will be using her again!”

“Cara was so considerate and amazing when our original sitter cancelled last minute. I really appreciate it - she went above and beyond for us and Luna. Thank you and we’d love to book again!”

I have experience with plenty of animals. I have animal sat for multiple families and friends and they have loved me! I work fulltime but can make time for your babies. I treat your babies like mine. I make sure they get the love and care they need. I slowly introduce myself, if you need your dog crated I can do that. If all we need to do for your pet is we meet a few times before petsitting that is okay, or if you need me to bring my dog so your dog can meet mine. Whatever helps with your animal to feel comfortable and safe.
“Robin was great!! My pup loved her and she was not at all intimidated by his high energy and ill-mannered behavior. She communicated with us before and during the stay, and sent pictures. Sherlock was entertained and she even was able to get my very picky eater to finish his dinner. I highly recommend her.”

“Penny is a rock star. We left our dog and my daughter’s dog with her at our house over Christmas. My daughter’s dog has a seizure disorder and takes 3 pills twice a day. He hadn’t had a seizure in months, but of course had 3 Grand Mals in one day with Penny. She got in touch with us and handled the situation perfectly, giving him his extra meds and keeping a close watch on him. She even offered to not go to her sister’s house on Christmas so she could keep an eye on Lovund. My dog, who is very quirky, ignored Penny most of the time, but Penny was not fazed but this. June finally approached Penny after we got home, wagging her tail and licking Penny’s hand- June’s stamp of approval! Our house was in good shape when we got home. I felt very comfortable leaving our pups with Penny and would not hesitate to utilize her again.”

“Our dogs are always happy when we come home. Anna is great with them. We are leaving for a week tomorrow and I know they will be in great hands with Anna. I highly recommend her!”

“Jordan was excellent. I only adopted Oso the day prior but was called in to work. She met with Oso that day to ensure the two were a match. She responded with very short notice to dog sit within my home overnight. Her communication was perfect and she updated me often with how Oso was doing, what they were up to, and with multiple photos showing a very happy rescue.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Johansons Corner
Jason is a wonderful house sitter. He took amazing care of our home, our 2 dogs and pet fish. Great communication from start to finish, getting regular photos and check ins really made us feel at ease. I’ve had some nightmare pet sitter experiences in the past, and I’m thrilled to say that is all behind me. My family and I will book trips knowing we have an awesome, trusted person who treats our dogs as his own. We took a 10 day trip to see family and I didn’t spend one second worrying, it was fantastic! Highly recommend and will definitely book again. Thank you Jason!!!

Amy took great care of our two dogs! Bella got lots of ball catching time, and Henry enjoyed all the pets. Amy checked in prior to the scheduled dates, and stayed in touch proactively regarding departure and arrival times. Great communication, and great with our dogs.
Gabrielle was wonderful and took great care of our pup while we were away for a long weekend. She was a great communicator, treated our home with care and sent daily updates. We were so appreciative of her help and would definitely use her pet sitting services again in the future!

Wendy was absolutely fantastic to work with. Hopefully well in advance next time 😉

Regina was a rock star! She handled both dogs, with ease and followed up with all my inquiries as well as photos. We felt comfortable with our old girl being in her care (that's saying something from this helicopter mom) and she also handled our middle-aged big guy, no problem.

I’m so thankful for Jessica and her son staying with my pup over the holiday week! I know she received so much love, and it made being away from her much easier knowing she was being well taken care of. Jessica sent daily updates and the cutest photos. She left the house in great shape, too. Thank you!!

Emma was wonderful and I wholeheartedly recommend her to other pet parents! She was reliable, responsible, and great at communicating. She got along well with my anxious, reactive, high energy pup and sent lots of updates throughout her stay. I returned home to a clean house and happy pets!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Johansons Corner walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Johansons Corner maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Johansons Corner choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Johansons Corner. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
