“Gwyn loved Brittany! We really enjoyed her too. She did some light housekeeping as well as keeping with our girl’s routine. She also made a little crochet cat that looked like our cat that Gwyn purrs when playing and cuddling it. Thanks for everything Brittany! You made our first time getting a pet sitter a pleasant experience for everyone.”

“I haven’t taken a vacation in 5 years… I was a foster mom for Kittens when I lived in Boston, now living in South Carolina. I have several little fur babies that I don’t trust with many people they are my children. When I got onto Rover‘s website, I read review after review after review. Jill had all five stars and for very good reason. She’s very attentive to my animals, very kind, professional, took pictures every day of the babies, kept me in the loop when she was leaving the house and when she was in for the night. I hired Jill to stay for a week in my home while I was away and she worked her full-time job during the day. My mind and my heart was at ease thanks to Jill. She’s great!!!!”

“Justin was great! Sent great photos while we were away and was very communicative! The dogs loved him. He left our home clean and took great care of it while we were way. 5/5 would recommend!”

“Laura was amazing. Kept us informed on everything and sent lots of pics. She even made collars for our babies. That was so nice and sweet of her. She kept the house clean and followed all the instructions on the care that they require.”

About: I've taken care of dogs every since I was about 16 looking for a job. I would house sit or just walk family and neighbors dogs. I have always treated every pet like my own. Dogs need attention and love. I'm currently working part-time but in my home. I am able to play, feed, water, and love on your doggie as needed. Doggie love is the BEST. I feed, water, and take outside. I play about 10 minutes after eating so they can get that energy out. I love hard and make sure your doggie feels right at home.
“What a great experience with Madison. From the start, communication was clear and reliable, and it was obvious that Jake was well taken care of while I was away. I received updates and photos that gave me peace of mind. It’s not always easy leaving your dog with someone else, but this experience made it stress free!! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring sitter to contact Madison. 👍👍👍👍👍”

“Yaphet was very polite and professional and took great care of my dog for the day. Archer loved him and I felt very comfortable leaving him. I really appreciate the care Yaphet provided for Archer and would definitely on him again!”

“We were very nervous to leave our ten week old puppy for the night, but Walker did such a great job with him! She took him out to potty frequently, played with him, and sent us lots of pictures and updates. Our minds were at ease knowing that he was in such good hands. We will undoubtedly be using Walker’s services in the future!”

“We had the best experience with Taryn! She went above and beyond while watching our pups over the 4th of July weekend. Not only did she send us regular updates and adorable photos (even themed for the holiday!), but she did it without us even having to ask—which gave us so much peace of mind. The power even went out for half the day, and she handled it like a pro—making sure the dogs were safe, comfortable, and cared for the entire time. It’s clear she truly loves animals and treats them like her own. We are so grateful and will absolutely be booking with her again!”

“Jacquelyn is amazing. She’s everything I’ve looked for in a critter sitter! She goes above and beyond. My critters all love her. She doesn’t just care for them, but provides love and attention. Having her watch them has enabled me to go on vacation and literally not worry about the care my critters are receiving, which is such a blessing! I feel confident they are in the best of care.”

“Maggie is awesome, my old man dog is very easy going but my hyper growing 8 month puppy I was worried about we had never left him with anyone , he loved her she spent time outside with him to make sure he got his energy out sent us pictures morning and night, when I came home my house was exactly how I left it which is hard to do with hairy children so I believe she swept my floor. She is amazing looking forward to using her next time ❤️”

About: My experience comes from owning my own pets (goats, chickens, ducks, dogs, cats, bunnies, guinea pigs, hamsters) and petsitting (yes, even even horses, pigs, snakes and bugs). In previous years, I fostered for countless animal rescue groups and shelters, whether it was just volunteering or fostering puppies or senior dogs in need. I currently own a pitbull/lab rescue, Cali, who I trust with few people. I completely understand the anxiety when it comes to trusting someone new to watch over your pup. This is why I prioritize communication, forming relationships with both pets and parents, sending frequent updates and paying close attention to details/routines provided to me. After each visit, you can always expect to find water bowls to be clean and full, leashes hung up and everything just as you left it except this time with a happy and tired pup! Please reach out with as many questions as you'd like, I look forward to hearing from you! I have a dog of my own, so pet care is already built into my routine and something I look forward to everyday. I'm also available for last minute needs and do my best to be as flexible as possible as I understand plans can change :) How I care for your pet depends entirely on the instructions you give me, I strive to follow your directions as closely as possible to ensure you, your pet and myself all have a great experience that is as similar as can be to your routine with them. With that being said, each pet I care for is treated as my own and will have my full attention when I am with them.
“Karleen was an awesome sitter! Bo and Winston had so much fun with her and she gave a lot of updates throughout the weekend. Will definitely be using her in the future!”

About: From growing up alongside my cats for 16 years to caring for my dog for the past 6, I understand how deeply pets rely on us and connect us to one another. Your pets will get the same steady love and comfort mine have always known. As a pet owner, pet care is naturally a part of my daily routine. I am also a recent college graduate with a flexible work schedule. Whether it’s drop‑ins or longer stays, I easily adjust my schedule to give each pet the attention and consistency they’re used to. Whether I’m in my home or a client’s, I focus on making pets feel safe, relaxed, and at home. With 16 years of cat care and 6 years with my dog, I’m used to following routines, reading body language, and giving consistent attention. I stick to each pet’s normal schedule: feeding, litter care, walks, playtime, and any special instructions so they feel comfortable and cared for wherever they are.
“Christina was able to help me on very short notice and stayed at my home for an entire week. From the moment she arrived, I felt completely at ease knowing my animals and home were in such capable hands. She was excellent about sending photos and updates throughout my trip, which gave me so much peace of mind. When I returned home, the house was spotless, and all of my animals were happy, healthy, and well cared for. One of the biggest challenges for me is finding someone who is experienced with a variety of animals—not just cats and dogs, but also goats, chickens, guinea fowl, and geese. Christina handled all of them with confidence and care. She is incredibly trustworthy, dependable, and clearly has a genuine love for animals. I am beyond happy with her services and cannot recommend her highly enough. If you’re looking for someone who will care for your pets and home as if they were her own, Christina is the one! ❤️🐾🐐🐓🪿”

About: We're offering our home and attention to your four legged family as if though they were one of our own. We don't overbook and rarely take in two clients at a time so that we can offer your pup a calm and relaxed environment without a whole pack of dogs parading around. Three bedroom house with a backyard enclosed by privacy fencing where most of the fun goes down! We love to keep our guests physically and mentally stimulated so they have just as great of a vacation as you do. Whether they'd rather play fetch or just curl up to relax and snuggle, they're sure to have a great time! I work primarily from home so there will be ample opportunity for playtime and attention. I have experience with obedience and agility training, as well as a few years in a grooming salon so I'm comfortable around all breeds and sizes. Pitbulls to Pomeranians and everything in between, all are welcome here. I do require that any guest be potty trained, have basic training/manners, and be dog friendly, as we have another pup in the house and possibly a foster dog at the time. Additionally, they must be fixed (or be well trained to not mark/dominate) and up to date on all vaccines, paperwork will be verified prior to arrival. I do accept titer tests if you are trying to avoid over-vaccinating and welcome raw feeders as well. It's our goal to provide all of our guests with a safe, healthy, and pleasurable stay! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to send a message and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Want your furbaby to be loved on and get exercised while you're at work? I'm also available for weekday daycare drop offs for a reduced rate. Let your pup make some friends and get tired out instead of being bored and alone all day. I'm also available to do home visits as well if within a certain radius of my location. So if you have a feline companion you can rest assured that they will receive all of the love and care that they're used to. Why I love dog sitting I have always loved dogs since a young age. I grew up with my family's GSD and when he passed I was gifted with a Weimaraner puppy who I trained in both obedience and agility and was my constant companion through the years. Although I have most experience with larger dogs, I worked in a grooming salon while in college and handled many smaller breeds as well. Meet my pets Lil' is our pride and joy who we rescued from a bad situation when she was only 5wks old. She's become the most wonderful addition to our household and loves playing with our guests. She's very good at reading different personalities and will engage in play or give space to a guest depending on how their personality dictates. Luna and Cozmo are our little house panthers who we decided to adopt after we rescued their mom and litter mates from a junk pile. They adore the pups, but can easily be kept up in another room if guest dogs aren't a fan. About my yard We have a fenced in backyard that is accessible by doggy door and surrounded by wooden privacy fencing. Concrete patio connects to the backdoor, then a gravel common area with two raised vegetable beds (no plants are toxic to dogs), fire pit, and arbor. My experience administering medication Yes, I will administer topical, oral and/or IM medications free of charge.
“Andri did an excellent job watching my fur baby. She kept me informed of everything and communicated effectively. She knows her stuff when it comes to fur babies. Thank you Andri!”

I am reliable, nurturing, and detail-oriented.i have worked with all ages of animals including puppies and seniors! I have experience in giving oral medications as well! I am a recent college graduate and just left a job. I am currently available all day everyday and would love to fill that time watching your pets! Since this is now my only job, I can spend as much time as needed with your pet! I am very physically active and enjoy going on walks and playing with animals. I communicate with the parents of the pet I am watching to ensure I am giving the best possible care to their fur baby. Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Jaars
We had a wonderful experience with Alexa! She is reliable, caring, and kept us updated with photos and messages while we were away. Our dogs were happy, well cared for, and clearly loved the attention. We would definitely use her services again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter.

We had an good experience with our Rover sitter. She was professional, reliable, and fairly attentive to our dog’s needs throughout the long stay. Dog was walked regularly everyday and was given food as per our instructions. Initially our communication was a bit spotty — however, when inquired about our dog; we received Rover updates, photos, and check-ins, that gave us peace of mind while we were away. Our dog stayed at our home happy, relaxed, and didn't have to be boarded elsewhere. We appreciated the care provided and would recommend Brittany.

We really loved having Eliora stay at our home and watch our three fur babies. They loved her, and they were so well taken care of while we were away. I loved that she sent pics while we were gone and that we came home to a clean house. We will definitely use her again.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Jaars walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Jaars maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Jaars choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Jaars. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
