About: I grew up on a ranch with dogs, cats, horses, and cattle, and my boyfriend who I live with has had dogs his whole life. We love dogs of all size and ages and hope to adopt more in the future. I (Rebekah) will be who is primarily with your pup! I work 8:30-5 M-F, but am available to let your dog out for a potty break on my lunch and spend the rest of my time outside of work with them! I love to cuddle with pups while reading a book, as well as taking them on walks and playing with them with their toys! I strive to make the dogs feel comfortable with me, as I’m sure they get confused with a new person in their house. I try to keep their daily routine as similar to what they’re used to!
“Heather is always amazing! I’ve booked multiple times but this was my longest trip. Her and my dog are best buds! I can tell my pup is having an amazing time with her in the pics. Heather is very reliable and trust worthy. I feel extremely comfortable knowing my fur baby is in the best hands 🤍🤍🤍”

“Johannesburg was amazing all the way around! She was available I'm very short notice and was flexible with the meet and greet. She proved herself to be trustworthy, reliable, honest, kind and caring. Don't hesitate one moment to book her!”

“We are always so appreciative of Bailey’s time and feel relieved knowing our cats are in good hands with her! She is a caring and attentive Rover and we highly recommend her services. Thank you Bailey!”

About: I don't really have any special skills. We just love animals and we'd love to care for yours when needed. We can feed , walk , give medications , hug on and love your pets. I'm retired now and I don't have any recurring responsibilities so Im pretty much available, all the time. My daughter also lives here with me and she really , really , really loves animals. And she's excited that we are signing up for this , we can't wait. We have a large , three bedroom home with a den and fenced in backyard , and have a specific area in our den for animal care. We can set up whatever's needed depending on the animal and what their needs are.
About: I have been a sitter for 4 years for friends and neighbors. My care has included walking, potty breaks, overnight care, and more! I’ve lived with Dobermans my whole life and am capable of care for any dog of any size! I am a full time student at Cal Poly humboldt, my classes are in the morning and I am completely open in afternoons, weekends and holidays! I am active and love to play with animals!! My dogs at home are escape artists so I know how to avoid an escape due to fences. I have kennel trained multiple of my dogs and prefer to use kennels for bigger dogs.
About: I’ve taken care of 2 dogs the past 5+ years. One of them is mine he is an easy going Boston Terrier, he loves playing fetch and walks. The other is a family friend’s dog, she is a Doberman who has had a lot of medical issues. That means a strict medication schedule to adhere to and temper issues. Nonetheless she’s a joy to take care of! I have also taken care of rats, they are a lot of fun. Then off and on i’ve taken care of cats, doing the usual litter box cleaning and feeding. I go to a local community college but it being summertime makes pet care very easy to fit into my already lax schedule. My life isn’t very hectic so i’m flexible with anything! I do live with roommates who are allergic to cats and dogs so sadly I can’t bring fur babies to my home. On the bright side I have a car so I have zero issue driving to a clients’ home in order to take care of their pets!
About: I have pet-sat and house-sat since I was 18 years old. I love working with animals and helping others by caretaking responsibilities. I am energized and playful with both cats and dogs. I have most of my experience with cats and dogs. I treat them with love and respect always. Sometimes I sing to them and brighten their spirits. I have many references for housesitting and pet sitting. I enjoy caretaking and stewarding peoples homes. I also enjoy being a helper and lightning others’ loads. My family dog passed away one year ago and I love any opportunity to connect with more dogs. They bring me so much joy and happiness. I am very patient and positive. Easy to communicate with. I am currently a student at College of the Redwoods studying Environmental Sciences and Art. I’m typically at school 4-5 hours Mondays through Thursdays. I’m an introvert and enjoy being home, reading or making art. I love to go on walks and hikes daily. I wake pretty early and go to bed early too. My schedule is somewhat flexible, so I can cater to your pets needs. I am a very respectful guest in other’s homes. I love to leave places better than when I first arrived. I can take good care of fur babies and plants! I enjoy playing with pets with their favorite toys or throwing the ball in the backyard. I am very available and flexible with my schedule so that provides ample opportunity for potty breaks, walking, playing and overall catering to pets’ needs.
About: I've been taking care of animals including wildlife and exotic species for over 5 years. I'm trained in medication administration (including injections) as well as dietary restrictions; I have certificates in Clinical Animal Behavior and Cooperative Care Training with an understanding of how to manage behavioral needs. I take care of my cats every day with assistance from my mom when I'm out of the house; I also do Petsitting and dog walking on a weekly basis. I work full time and do this as a supplement to my income, and to spend time getting to know your pets! I follow instructions carefully, including medication administration needs; I introduce myself to animals slowly and with lots of positive reinforcement to create a healthy relationship. I listen to owner's needs regarding their animal and do my best to be flexible.
About: I've been looking after dogs since I was a kid. I've always had dogs, I've worked for vets and for pet supply stores, and one side of my family is littered with vets and farm type folks. I have a ton of experience with all sorts of animals, but I love dogs the most. Right now I'm not doing anything else that requires me to be anywhere at any particular time, so I am incredibly flexible as far as scheduling goes. I live in an apartment with my 35 pound wonder mutt named Puck, and we're not allowed to have any animal guests, but I am more than willing to come to your place and follow your rules. Puck can also be left with a sitter if his presence would be an issue. I follow your directions and I care for your pets and your home as instructed. I am a fairly fastidious person. I believe in returning your place and your pets to you in at least as good a condition as I find them.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
