“Gabrielle took great care of our cats and was in constant communication with us about how they were doing, including cleaning up a plant that one had knocked over. She also sent lots of pictures which was appreciated.”

“Patrick did an outstanding job caring for our dog and home. He was attentive, responsible, and kept us well-informed with great communication throughout. Our dog was clearly well cared for, and we returned to a spotless house. We would not hesitate to book him again and highly recommend him to others.”

“Kaitlin did a one-night housesitting job and was everything we could have asked for, from meet and greet through the engagement. She provided prompt communications and was responsive the whole way through. We came home to a clean house and a happy, tired dog. We will be using Kaitlin again soon!”

“Sampson had a great time with Allicia. Allicia kept us informed while we were gone and sent us a couple photos each day of Sampson. Would definitely recommend Allicia.”
“Our experience with Sydney was great from start to finish. She took the time to understand our dogs’ routines and kept us updated with messages and photos throughout. When we got home, our younger pup kept looking around for her, which really says it all about how comfortable and happy the girls felt. We came back to two relaxed dogs and couldn’t be more grateful. We’d gladly book again and recommend their services.”

“Mariah was prompt with her arrival and very attentive to our dogs. They were very happy. She sent us lovely updates and left our home clean. We would have her sit again in the future ✨️”

“Isabella was great with our two dogs and cat. She kept us updated every day, cared for all the animals, and kept them happy and healthy until we returned! Will be using her again in the future!”

“Good communication, kind, considerate. She went above and beyond to make sure my "non-traditional" pets also had water in addition to my cat. She was respectful of my house, and I will be requesting her services again in the future!”

“This was our first booking with Kristin and she was fabulous! We were gone for 16 days and she took care of our two dogs like they were her own. They are still missing her! She left the house in perfect shape! She also kept our gardens watered and my houseplants thriving. We will definitely ask her to come back again and we highly recommend her to everyone!”

“Teneisha is wonderful! She is very patient and caring. My boy suffers separation anxiety and is very hesitant with new people, but Teneisha was there making sure he had his food and water and was well cared for. She is a very intelligent and responsible woman, who made me feel very comfortable leaving for a couple of days and not having my own anxiety about Reuben's well being. I highly recommend Teneisha!”

“My girls love Richard and he always takes good care of them. I've used him as a sitter and for daycare. My dogs are very high energy and he handles them well. I am a repeat customer and will continue to book him in the future.”

“She did a great job taking care of our pets-one having separation anxiety and some medication needs. She also took great care of the house. Great communicator and will use again for sure!”
“This was my second experience with Elise, I was out of town for a week on holiday and I felt comfortable with Elise watching over my dog. It was the longest I had ever been away from my dog, but Elise made him comfortable and everything went very smoothly.”

“Wonderful, kind, and very competent sitter. Our one dog wasn't feeling well, and she handled it perfectly. She was a considerate house guest as well, keeping things neater than we even found it. My wife and I will absolutely will be planning our future trips around Natalie's availability so we can book her again.”

“Had previously used Kaitlyn for a drop in for 3 little dogs who have pea sized bladders and require walks every 3 hours. They also don't always agree on routing which is to say they are not necessarily easy to walk. This time, she stayed at our home for 4 days. All went perfectly. Kaitlyn is meticulous about following directions give and is genuinely concerned about providing the same level of care that pups get from their owners. We give Kaitlyn 12 paws up and plan to use her often.”
“Absolutely great - everyone was happy and relaxed when we got home, outdoor plants were watered, and our boy cat was not in a sulk. House was spotless, communication was great, I hate writing this review because everyone is going to book him up and we won't be able to.”

“Tony went above and beyond caring for our dog, cats, and house, all week long! He was just the right amount of communicative, with plenty of amazing photos, and kept everybody healthy and happy even when you could cook an egg on the sidewalk.”

“Natalie did a wonderful job caring for our three dogs. They were happy to see her when she arrived on time, and they enjoyed their time together. Natalie kept us updated with photos and videos, so we could see how well the dogs were being cared for. We’ll definitely have her watch our dogs again.”

Averi was really great with our maltipoo and we felt super comfortable knowing he was in good hands during our whole trip! She was flexible with the hours and number of visits and cleaned up any accidents he had. She communicated with us daily via text and even sent multiple pictures throughout the ten days. We would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter. Thank you Averi!

June did an excellent job staying with Windsor for a long weekend. June made sure Windsor played, walked, was fed and had everything he needed. Windsor even got to go on an adventure and meet some of June’s friends. June provided timely updates, asked questions to put Windsor’s needs first and demonstrated a clear care and love for animals. We will certainly have June watch Windsor in the future

If you’re looking for someone trustworthy to stay in your home and care for your pet, Kelly is amazing! She cared for our dog like she would her own and we returned to a clean house. Loved all the updates and photos she sent while we were away, definitely helped ease our minds that our boy was taken care of. Will definitely be booking with her again.

Taneisha is the ABSOLUTE best! I was nervous about the whole process, but after our meet and great with her I felt relieved. She was very communicative and sent lots of daily pics of everyone. She took such great care of everyone, including our plants. Will definitely be using Taneisha again and again.

Savannah and Silas took amazing care of my dog, Charlie, a 13-year old Goldendoodle, for 10 days while I was on a family trip overseas. This was the first time Charlie has been left overnight with anyone but family, so I was nervous. Savannah and Silas sent multiple updates a day, videos, and lots of fun pics, so I was always informed about how Charlie was doing. Charlie is a senior dog who takes medication and has dietary restrictions, and Savannah and Silas were excellent with his meds and making sure Charlie maintained his special diet. They were terrific asking questions about Charlie's needs and responding to them, and inquired about whether my flight home was on time in case they needed to take care of Charlie. I think Charlie had more fun with them than when I'm home lol as he got to spend time on the porch watching birds and passersby. As a bonus, the house looked great when I returned home from my trip. I highly recommend Savannah and Silas for trustworthy, caring, dependable, and highly communicative pet- and home-sitting.

Therese did a fabulous job watching our pups. She was very responsible, and kept us updated during the whole trip. Most importantly, she was able to stay an extra night, when our flights were cancelled. It was a great relief knowing our dogs were being so well looked after.

Elise did a great job caring for our cat, Sujuk, while we were out of town! We received twice a day updates with photos, which made us feel at ease and confident that Sujuk was in good hands. When we arrived home, the house was well-cared for and Sujuk was in good spirits. We would definitely hire Elise again in the future!

Tony was exceptional! It was so obvious that he spent time loving on our pets, not just tending to them. He sent tons of updates and excellent pictures while he was here and helped us feel so confident in their wellbeing. He left our home better than we left it and I am so looking forward to working with him again. Thanks Tony!

I was pretty anxious about trying a new sitter, but Allayna put all my nerves at ease! I really appreciated her doing a meet & greet to see how she interacted with my dog and getting to know her. During her stay, she was extremely communicative the whole time with our dog. I know Benny will be very excited to see her the next time she comes to stay!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 1,441 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Homestead. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Homestead walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Homestead maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Homestead choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Homestead. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 91% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
