“10/10 recommend Alex! I was so nervous trusting someone to watch our 4 cats and 11 month old puppy- we had a few specifications we needed and Alex seemed to meet all of those. After chatting with his stellar deference i was convinced he was exactly what we were hoping for! He checked in regularly by text and photos and asked questions whenever he needed information. I came home to very happy critters and a clean house. Alex at first seemed too good to be true- but he actually IS!”

“Julleyka was wonderful! She took great care of our hard to handle large dog and home for a long vacation. She even went over and beyond cleaning up after our dog got sick inside. Will be using again! Thanks, Julleyka!”

“As newcomers to the area, we were nervous about leaving our dogs with someone we didn’t know. Ashley put our minds at ease by sending regular updates and photos so we knew they were in great hands. When a few severe thunderstorms stressed one of our dogs, she reached out right away, asked all the right questions about how we normally would handle it and made sure our pup was as comfortable as possible. We appreciated her thoughtful communication and care she gave our dogs!”

“As always, Makenna was just wonderful with Harry. His anxiety at having us gone is practically non-existent when she stays with him. So grateful to have her to care for Harry when we can’t be there.”

“We are very happy with Sierra house sitting our 2 dogs. She took great care of them, took them on walks, played with them in the yard and we received pictures of the dogs having fun as well. It was great knowing that our dogs were well taken care of and we could relax and enjoy our vacation. We will definitely be using Sierra again.”

“Mary was an amazing caregiver to our dog Gracie while we attended our daughters wedding in Washington State. I appreciate her staying the entire time so my dog didn't get lonely. She is a kind, caring and trusting person. I would highly recommend Mary to stay with you furry loved ones.”

“Another wonderful sitting with our cat Hope and Janicia! Hope is a very needy cat, that craves company and gets stressed without human interaction. I appreciate that Janicia was able to stay with her for two weeks during the December holidays. We came home to stressed free cat!”

“Kassy is amazing she goes above and beyond to care for our dogs! It was our Charlie’s birthday while weee gone and she made it special for him! The dogs love her too!”

“I can’t say enough good things about Madison! She was able to step in very last minute and did an absolutely amazing job caring for my pets and house while I was away. From the start, she was respectful, responsive, and easy to communicate with. I received regular updates and photos, which gave me total peace of mind while I was gone. Not only did she take great care of my animals, but also went above and beyond with the house — everything was spotless when I returned. It’s clear she genuinely cares and takes pride in doing things the right way. I would 100% recommend Madison to anyone looking for a trustworthy, reliable, and thoughtful sitter. I’ll definitely be booking again!”

“Daniella was just perfect for my Milo, a 13 lb. Yorkie mix. She treated him like he was her own. His tail was wagging when he met her, when she came to stay with him, and when I went to pick him up. He snuggled right up onto her lap. When he continued to sit by the garage door through which I left, she coaxed him back with treats and they could begin their special time. I told her any time she wanted him to do something, offer him a treat. I was very glad she didn't just let him sit there all day. She played with his toys with him. She also sat in the recliner with the feet up where Milo LOVES to sit with me. It's another thing I asked her to do. She only took him out briefly at my request because it was so hot and humid he gets overcome easily. She did everything I asked her to do, plus gave him all the cuddle time he wanted. She sent pictures so I could see the great time they were having. I'll be booking her for a few more times this summer. When I was here, I could see how much she loved on him and how much he loved on her right back. She is a very caring person who will take care of your babies like they are hers!”

“Outstanding care for Scarlett and our home over the weekend! Greatly appreciate administering multiple eye drops for her glaucoma care, stream of great pictures, and the updates! Will book again soon!”

“Jillian was beyond amazing. We had some schedule changes and she rolled with the punches and was there to look after our home and Dog. She sent photos periodically to let us know he was doing great but also didn’t overwhelm us while we were away. we will definitely be having her back.”

“Linda was outstanding! If there were 10 stars, she’d receive all 10. She was diligent about learning our needs, connecting with our dogs, being aware of their special needs, was caring and patient, kept in continuous contact all during our trip and left our home super clean and organized. She is a dream come true. She is everything we would ever want in a dog sitter. Job well done!”

“Holi-Nicol was great! We had to make a last minute booking due to an out of town funeral. She responded quickly and set up a meet and greet for the next day. She was great with our three dogs, and kept us updated with pictures. The dogs loved her, and we will definitely be using her again!”

“Kelli is just the sweetest person and excellent with animals. Our dog really loves her, seemingly more than some of our previous sitters. She reaches out with pictures and updates. She is respectful with our house and leaves it very nice. She’s genuinely just a really kind and generous person. She’s my favorite go to sitter!”

“Becky was amazing! First and foremost she took amazing care of Ollie, he adored her!! She also was super great with communication. I got the cutest pics and videos of their time together, which was so appreciated. I would recommend Becky to anyone!!”

“Kallie was absolutely incredible, my pup can be a little nervous sometimes & immediately was comfortable with her. She never failed to update me with photos and how the day was going. I will definitely be using her again ♥️”

Janelle took such great care of our babies while we were out of the country. It brought us such great comfort to know they were home and being well loved cared for while we were gone. The multiple updates and pictures we received were the highlights of our day while we were gone. We would highly recommend Janelle!

Yet again, Karen has done a wonderful job with my pup. She is attentive and loving and thoroughly enjoys being with Chewie. I have total confidence in her while I’m away and can relax fully. She sends pictures and keeps in contact and always goes above and beyond. Highly recommend her.

I couldn’t be happier with the care my dog received! From the very beginning, I felt completely comfortable and confident leaving my dog in her care. She was kind, attentive, responsible, and genuinely caring. She kept me updated throughout the stay, which gave me great peace of mind, and it was clear that my dog was happy, comfortable, and well taken care of. I truly appreciated the love and attention Alexis gave my dog, treating her as if she was her own. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, dependable, and caring dog sitter. I will definitely be using her services again.

As always, Ashley is so amazing. She even stayed longer on each visit due to us being anxious after an incident that happened completely outside of her drop-in visits on our last trip. She always takes great care of our boys, and we will rebook her every time.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 3,502 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Holiday. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Holiday walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Holiday maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Holiday choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Holiday. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
