“I was so nervous about leaving our dog. My hunting partner. After I met yvette that all went away. She cared for my Izzy like she was hers . Long walks and lots of attention. Def use yvette. I will be again soon.”

“Victoria took wonderful care of our puppy for several hours and did an amazing job! She made sure our pup was well fed, played with her, and kept her happy the entire time. She was very organized, attentive, and followed all our instructions perfectly. It’s clear she genuinely cares about animals. We felt completely at ease knowing our puppy was in such good hands. Highly recommend Victoria to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter!”

“Jacob was amazing! From the first moment he established a great rapport with our 5 year old Golden Retriever Maximus and treated him with kindness and love. We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter! Our dog was happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for throughout the entire stay. We received regular updates, photos, and excellent communication, which gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. It’s obvious he genuinely loves animals and treats them like family. We came home to a healthy, happy pup, and we booked the next house sit right away. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and trustworthy dog sitter.”

“She took care of my little one exactly as requested. My dog loves company so she was able to hang out, feed and walk with him as directed throughout the 12 days we were away. Thank you so much! Will be using her again!”

“She was great with our pups. One fairly energetic, but in need of calm because he was recovering from knee surgery, and the other a 17 year old diva who is mostly blind and mostly deaf. Will definitely book again.”

About: I previously had a cockapoo for 15 and a half years! My parents and I would love to have a dog in the house again and I am happy to help watch pets while I am home from grad school! I am a Vanderbilt graduate student, and have Thursdays through Sundays completely off which gives me more than enough time to care for your dog! I am available during the day on Mondays and Tuesdays, and early Wednesdays. I make sure I know where food, water, treats, leashes, toys, etc. are placed, and always keep a close eye on them if they are in the yard. I make sure they are fed on time and feel comfortable.
“Samantha was absolutely fantastic!!! Could not recommend her more highly. She kept us fully up to date throughout our time away, asked appropriate questions to verify when there was a discrepancy (my fault) between the instructions and what was there. Samantha took care of our Maggie like she was her own! Please consider Sam for your next extended time away!”

About: I've been taking care of dogs since I was 10 when I got my dog. I joined Rover 3 years ago and have experience walking, feeding, playing with, and caring for various types of dogs. I care for every dog as if they're my own! I just got home from college and am looking to make some money as I take a remote class this summer. That being said, my schedule is pretty open and flexible! I am very respectful of other's spaces and make sure to follow instructions carefully. I pay attention to detail and am a high energy individual. I truly love dogs so much and am happy to help take care of them when owners' lives get busy.

I have a large fenced in yard and a neighborhood that is great for walks. The home is also spacious to give your pup lots of room to eat, sleep, and play!
“Priscilla was amazing with our 4 dogs. She was incredibly attentive to their unique needs, compassionate, and caring. Priscilla communicated with us extremely well before and throughout our trip. She sent daily updates and pictures and we knew our boys were in great hands. We highly recommend Priscilla!”

“Lisbeth is a reliable and responsible sitter who took excellent care of our dog in our home this past weekend. As soon as he met her, he immediately connected to her, which put our minds at ease. Throughout her stay with our dog she followed through with everything asked of her and kept us well-informed with daily pictures. I would definitely recommend Lisbeth and plan to seek her services in the future!”

She was very clean, responsible, and attentive. Charlie was happy and comfortable with her, and I felt completely at ease knowing he was in good hands. I would definitely recommend Amy and would be happy to have her watch Charlie again!”

About: Hi! My name is Christina. I grew up having a Siberian Husky named Tonya and later a Bichon Frise named Daquiri. Pets have always been a part of my life. In my early 20's I took an incentive to relocate down south where I adopted Franky, a pitbull/husky mix puppy. Anyone who knows me knows that my world revolved around my dog. If my dog couldn't come, I wasn't going. 'You won't ever see Chris without that dog, who brings a dog to a hair appointment?" Yup.. that's me. Franky had such an impact on my life that she even was responsible for steering my career. Formerly regional leadership for Banfield Pet Hospital I was responsible for Learning and Development for the largest veterinary practice in the world with over 900 hospitals in 51 markets. (Annnd... Yes, my dog got to come to work with me!) My best friends and former colleagues range from medical directors within the veterinary field to Brandon Mcmillan from CBS Lucky Dog (animal trainer). There's no shortage of emergency contacts in my phone to reach out to which came in handy when Franky, my 17yr old Pitbull/Husky was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Almost 9 months ago now I made the heart wrenching decision to have Lap of Love come to my home and end Franky's suffering when it was clear she was losing her battle with cancer. It's bringing tears to my eyes now and I don't want to be the most depressing profile which leads me to you. While i'm not quite ready for another dog of my own as no one can replace Franky, I get so much enjoyment from being around animals that watching other peoples' pets has been healing and a source of comfort. I think it's safe to say I was a little over protective and needed my own pet sitter when traveling to and from headquarters in Portland, Oregon. At the time, Deb was a God send and I was so grateful to have found someone who understood me and my pet and I hope that I can be that to you and yours! I'm excited to meet you both! After leaving Banfield as a result of increased travel I went into business for myself. I currently only work from home and no more than a couple days a week. As you can imagine it can get lonely and I look forward to having your pet come stay with me. I try to stay active and walk daily to a nearby hiking trail. It's a good walk it takes about an hour and there is a dog park within the trail which is nice for dogs who get along well with others and are healthy enough to participate. Even when they don't get along with others sometimes if you go in the evening closer to dusk the park is empty and its nice to play fetch within the fenced in area. I live in an apartment but don't allow that to fool you, we have a huge courtyard and as I mentioned there is a hiking trail and dog park nearby to keep busy.

About: I’ve always had 1-4 dogs living with me since I was a little kid. I started pet sitting on and off since my 20s. I have experience with small, medium and large dogs. I’m an elementary teacher, with a very flexible summer schedule. During the school year, I’m available during my lunch break for poddy breaks and a short walk or playtime (if close to Dumont) and after 3:45 for longer walks and feeding. I am also available on weekends! When caring for pets in a client's home, I follow each family's routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and medications (if needed). I make sure pets always have fresh water, and plenty of affection. I will treat your home with the same care and respect I would my own.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Hillsdale
Yvette was great with jojo! She’s responsible, warm, communicative and sent adorable pics of jojo cuddling with her. She was able to give jojo her meds no problem which I was super appreciative of. I felt relaxed leaving her for the weekend knowing Yvette was there. I had a wonderful weekend away with no worries. She’s great!

Mia stayed with our dog, Trudie, for 3 nights last week while we were away. We had a very positive experience when we first met Mia last month. Trudie was very impressed with her and so was I. She was warm and friendly and seemed very professional and responsible. Her stay with Trudie went very smoothly. She stayed in touch with me throughout, she sent pictures, and overall gave me a good feeling of confidence that Trudie was in capable hands. Oh and our house was as neat as a pin when we returned. All in all a great experience with Mia.
Above all, trustworthy. She genuinely loves dogs. That much is obvious in how she cares for our puppies. But on top of that, Alessandra emanates trust. It’s hard to find someone that’s worthy of being left alone in your home alone with your furry family members. This is the first time we have felt comfortable with someone.

Hillary was absolutely amazing with our 17-year-old senior dog. Caring for an extremely elderly dog is not easy. It takes patience, experience, and compassion. Hillary went above and beyond to make sure my dog was comfortable, safe, and well cared for. We had total peace of mind knowing that our dog was in such loving and capable hands. I can’t recommend her enough.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hillsdale walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hillsdale maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hillsdale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Hillsdale. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
