Victoria took wonderful care of our puppy for several hours and did an amazing job! She made sure our pup was well fed, played with her, and kept her happy the entire time. She was very organized, attentive, and followed all our instructions perfectly. It’s clear she genuinely cares about animals. We felt completely at ease knowing our puppy was in such good hands. I felt comfortable with Yvette right from the start. She is personable and knowledgeable about dogs and my pet Dallas liked her immediately. I had her stay overnight for a week while on vacation. Yvette sent me daily updates and pictures, and even watered my plants. My mother lives downstairs and hit it off with Yvette as well altogether. I am happy to recommend her and will definitely be using when I travel next year.

Above all, trustworthy. She genuinely loves dogs. That much is obvious in how she cares for our puppies. But on top of that, Alessandra emanates trust. It’s hard to find someone that’s worthy of being left alone in your home alone with your furry family members. This is the first time we have felt comfortable with someone.

Melinda is amazing! She came to meet my pup ahead of time, developing a real rapport with her. During her time with my puppy, she communicated very well, took great care of my dog, and showed her real love. She also did a little dog training, which was very welcome. Love Melinda and our experience with her.

About: I have taken care of two golden retrievers of my own. I have experience working with puppies as well as larger sized dogs. I love playing with dogs and making sure their needs are met. I’m currently working at a school and will have more availability this summer to take additional clients. I am available in the afternoon and evenings. I thrive off of detailed explanation from pet parents on how to make their fur babies more comfortable while their parents are away. I make sure to leave everything clean and tidy after my service is complete.

About: Prior to moving towns I used to pet sit for all of my neighbors. Pets large and small, it didn’t matter but it was always fun. I’m starting my MBA next fall so anything earned on here will go towards that goal of mine! I’ve owned pets for over 12 years and have been taking care of others for 6 so almost all throughout high school and undergrad. I can walk multiple dogs at once, great with elderly animals, experienced with puppies, able to administer pet medication, etc. If you have questions reach out! Currently I am taking two online summer courses for my MBA with Sacred Heart University. I go to the gym 4 times a week and work drop in bartending shifts sometimes on weekends. Since I make my own schedule pet care fits very well into it because I can tailor mine to fit the animals needs! I don’t offer in home care at the moment because my sister recently got hip surgery so I’m waiting until she’s more comfortable to have other peoples pets at home. Otherwise I have two sweet dogs who have coexisted well with pets that I’ve taken care of in the past as well as cats they stay in their own room.

About: Hi! I’m Lindsay, a 19-year-old college student originally from New Jersey. Some things about me that I do on my free time is going on runs, going to the beach, and spending time with friends and family. I’ve been around animals my entire life and have years of hands-on experience caring for both dogs and cats. Growing up, my family always had dogs, and now currently have a tabby cat. I’ve frequently helped care for pets belonging to friends and relatives as well. I will always enjoy spending time with pets whether it be on a walk or just hanging out with them to keep company! I also have been caring for pets through a different app as well providing walks, sittings, drop ins, etc with a 5 star rating! The same love and attention I give to my pet will be the same for yours! I’m currently working part-time at Ben And Jerry’s. Usually Mondays, Thursdays, Friday, Saturdays. However, I work around my schedule as a pet-caregiver. I understand how important it is to feel safe and comfortable when leaving your pet in someone’s care. I promise to treat your pet with the same love, respect, and attention that I give to my own. Your pet’s well-being and happiness will always be my top priority, and I will make sure they feel secure and cared for every step of the way!

About: I started my experience dog walking 2 years ago for a professor’s friend in Winchester, Virginia. Twice a week, I would walk her hyper pups. She then recommended me to her father, whose dog I began walking twice a week as well. From there, my mini business boomed through word of mouth. I began dog sitting in people’s homes as well for multiple individuals for varying time spans. Most of the dogs I interacted with were seniors and required extensive care. However, all dogs owners loved and recommended me to others! I still walk the original dogs and add in others as my schedule allows with two other jobs. I am sad to leave my extensive clientele in Winchester, but I am moving back to New Jersey for graduate school and excited to meet new puppy friends!! For the summertime, I am incredibly flexible with nothing planned. I prefer weekly walks / drop ins, but also like sitting as well. In August, I start physical therapy school at Columbia University so my availability will decrease but I’d be willing to provide services on nights / weekends. During breaks, my availability will open up again! Whenever walking / sitting, I respect the owner’s rules, no matter what. I long to maintain utmost cleanliness and adherence to routine as physically possible. I am also very communicative and honest, building trust with my clients.

Throughout her stay with our dog she followed through with everything asked of her and kept us well-informed with daily pictures. I would definitely recommend Lisbeth and plan to seek her services in the future!

Pete is one of the best dog sitters I've ever worked with. He's very much a dog person and had an intuitive sense for how my dog Bandit was doing. He was very effective in taking care of Bandits' needs including some special medical foods and procedures required. And he's flexible -- he was able to also take care of my daughter's dog Brandy for some of the time while he was also taking care of Bandit. He also is an effective communicator and regularly sent us texts and pictures, as well as knowing when to ask questions if there might be a problem that arose. He's just very good. I highly recommend Pete (although please don't hire him when I need him). Thanks.

About: I've been taking care of dogs since I was 10 when I got my dog. I joined Rover 3 years ago and have experience walking, feeding, playing with, and caring for various types of dogs. I care for every dog as if they're my own! I just got home from college and am looking to make some money as I take a remote class this summer. That being said, my schedule is pretty open and flexible! I am very respectful of other's spaces and make sure to follow instructions carefully. I pay attention to detail and am a high energy individual. I truly love dogs so much and am happy to help take care of them when owners' lives get busy.

About: If you're looking for a dog-lover and loyal caretaker, I'm here for you and your pet! I'm happy to provide a loving space for your pet while you travel, or walks when needed. I work from home mostly--I am in the office two days a week (every Tuesday and Wednesday.) All other days I am flexible with my schedule. Pets are welcome on my furniture--while they are here, they are free to make themselves comfortable! Playtime, walks and car rides (if they like them) are encouraged.

Samantha was absolutely fantastic!!! Could not recommend her more highly. She kept us fully up to date throughout our time away, asked appropriate questions to verify when there was a discrepancy (my fault) between the instructions and what was there. Samantha took care of our Maggie like she was her own! Please consider Sam for your next extended time away!

Mia stayed with our dog, Trudie, for 3 nights last week while we were away. We had a very positive experience when we first met Mia last month. Trudie was very impressed with her and so was I. She was warm and friendly and seemed very professional and responsible. Her stay with Trudie went very smoothly. She stayed in touch with me throughout, she sent pictures, and overall gave me a good feeling of confidence that Trudie was in capable hands. Oh and our house was as neat as a pin when we returned. All in all a great experience with Mia.

FAQs for House Sitting - Washington Township

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Washington Township on Rover is $42.74 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 18,561 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Washington Township. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Washington Township walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Washington Township maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Washington Township choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Washington Township. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
