“Kathy is such a gem!!! Most importantly my critters love her and the love is reciprocated! She is so thoughtful….after staying at our nest and observing my love of dragonflies she found a sweet little dragonfly bag and filled it with treasures! So thankful for her! 💚🐾🐾”

“Judy provided great communication the entire trip and ensured my dog got the correct medications. She left the house clean and it gave me peace of mind knowing Judy was at home with my dog.”

“Sarah was able to take care of our dogs for two nights on short notice. She did excellent! Was a great communicator and our pets were happy and our home was tidy upon our return which is always so nice! I would highly recommend Sarah!”
“Skye is the absolute BEST!! From the moment my boyfriend and I met her, we knew she was going be great for my dog Danno. I really liked how knowledgeable she was with all her animal care and experience she has. Skye went ABOVE AND BEYOND my expectations on every level!! She gave very detailed summary visits and lots of pictures, which I really appreciated while we were away cause I know Danno can be a handful. Danno threw up on our bed blanket while we were away and Skye cleaned it up, washed it, and even remade the bed like brand new for us! She was even kind enough to get Danno a new toy!! Skye has such a kind heart and soul and is just an overall amazing person! I will always want her to watch my fur babies from now on!!!”

“Brea did a great watching our three dogs while we were out of town. In addition to that, our furnace had broke, and Brea took on extra duties of keeping our pups warm and the house, too. Now that the dogs know her, we will have again to watch the dogs.”

About: I have always had a soft spot for all good boy and girl doggos alike! My family jokes that they’re not sure where my passion for pups stem from, but I’ve always had a need to be around dogs! I am a foster associated with a local rescue so I have a lot of experience with all types of dogs, from puppy to elder, rambunctious to shy, I like them all! I understand every dog is different and each new friend is a new experience! I’m willing and able to handle all dogs and all new experiences! Mostly, I love having fun and showing your pup the time of their life (and similar routines) while you’re away. Please know I treat every Rover pup as my own and have their well-being as my top priority! Please let me know if you have any questions!
“We have used Lyle twice now and have already booked home stay #3. He is a good communicator takes wonderful care of my pups and leaves the house clean. He always send us photos and updates everyday. He takes extra special care of my deaf and partially blind senior dog. Thanks Lyle!!”

“We had a good experience with Lauren for overnight with our 2 dogs and 1 cat. I can only say I wish there were a few more updates throughout, but absolutely no issues. Thank you, Lauren”

About: My experience and background with animals spans over the course 20 years. I've worked as a veterinary technician, fostered nearly 2 dozen puppies for rescue programs, and founded my own successful non-profit rescue & conservation program dedicated to primitive canids. I had the wonderful experience of helping one of these rare dogs whelp & raise a massive litter of 12. I've owned numerous breeds including a Beagle, working-line German Shepherd, working-line Anatolian Shepherd, and numerous primitives such Carolina Dogs, a coydog hybrid, & an imported Canaan Dog. I've trained dogs in sports such as schutzhund & nosework. I established my private dog training business in 2019- specializing in puppies and working dogs such as service & livestock guardian dogs. I've been blessed to own two wonderful cats! On our homestead we had an incredible indoor/outdoor boy that kept the rodents at bay. We also have a sweet, indoor-only kitty that lives the high life with raw food & endless cuddles! I'm thoroughly experienced in caring for senior dogs & cats, administering medications, first aid, & wound care. I've fed numerous specialized diets, including fully raw. I adore the puppy stage- including crate training, potty training, & socialization. I'm a strong advocate for socialization that bolsters confident neutrality. A puppy's endless curiosity is so fun to harness! I enjoy giving dogs a balance of outdoor exercise like hiking, as well as indoor mental enrichment like games and puzzles. A tired dog is a happy dog! I train dogs part time & homeschool my daughter- which lends me a great deal of flexibility in my schedule. I can often accommodate short notice requests. Your beloved pet's safety is critical to me. I'm extremely cautious with opening & closing doors so no animals can slip through a door, check the fit of a dog's collar to prevent potential backing out, & ensure there's nothing a pup or kitty could get into thats potentially dangerous. I have a very strong preference for using martingale collars on dogs for walks to mitigate that risk. I've personally endured the tragedy of my young dog slipping the door and being hit by a car while a sitter was taking care of him- so I assure you I take this very seriously. Building trust with both owners and their pets is pivotal! I'm committed to open communication and honesty. I allow pets to greet me on their terms and understand some animals need a more patient, gentle approach than others. I strive to create a positive, calm environment for your pets- and once I'm trusted by them, I will add the playfulness and affection they deserve!
About: I’ve taken care of dogs since I was 7! I’ve been passionate about dogs since I was little. I am experienced in bathing, walking, playing, and caring. I am very careful, gentle, and respectful towards all animals big and small. I’m currently free most days of the week. Weekly appointments on Tuesdays would only affect the late morning/afternoon schedule. I do race within a barrel racing circuit that runs on MOST weekends. If I do not have races I will be free. This is only in the summertime. During the fall/winter/partly spring I will be back in university making time a little more sparse. During those times I will be only available on weekends. I have much respect for any environment. IF in your house, please do not be afraid to tell me anything important that I would need to know. I will always be sure to keep your puppies and kitties safe no matter what!! Animal safety is my number one priority.
“Brooke was awesome! Very kind and came home to a very happy kitty 😊 Brooke sent pictures and updates which is always appreciated. Our flight was cancelled and had to end up driving home from the East coast the following day and Brooke was super understanding and stopped over on short notice which was a great relief 😊”

“Sarah was amazing! She stayed at our home while we were away and took as much care for our home as she did for our pup. She sent updates throughout the weekend and gave us a detailed recap as she was leaving. It was nice to not have to worry about anything, knowing Sarah was taking good care of everything. Highly recommend!!”

“Once again, Carissa has done a fantastic job with our home and pets! Definitely a 5 star sitter! Always so helpful and kind, and our pets just love her! Thank you so much, and we will see you again soon!”

“Samantha was great! I am pretty sure our dogs were sad to see us come home:-) They had trail walks, pup cups and lots of love. Samantha stayed for 3 nights and my house was kept in good order. We will definitely use Samantha again.”

“Milo is the first pet sitter we’ve had stay the weekend at our home to watch our 2 dogs and cat. We have an elderly dog with doggie dementia, a Staffy, and a 3-legged cat, so they can be a handful, but they all just loved Milo! Our Staffy warmed up to him right away, which isn’t always the case, in fact our Staffy sat in his lap and gave him kisses within minutes of meeting. We found our elderly dog was calm with him, which is unusual. The way our pets reacted to meeting Milo greatly diminished our anxiety of leaving them for the first time. Milo didn’t hesitate to ask questions and kept us up to date on our pets’ status. Upon return, our animals seemed calm, happy and healthy. We will definitely ask Milo to sit again when we go out of town. Milo has a natural gift with animals and the animals really connect to his energy. 10/10!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Highland Township
Carolyn was wonderful with my dog, Daisy. She stayed in my home while caring for Daisy and was very respectful of both my house and my belongings. Daisy has high anxiety and does best when she can stick to her normal daily routine, and Carolyn did an excellent job maintaining her feeding and walking schedule. What stood out most was how comfortable Daisy was with Carolyn right away, which is rare for her. Carolyn spent quality time playing with her, giving her attention, and even tucking her in at night. It gave me peace of mind knowing Daisy was being cared for with so much patience and kindness. I would absolutely book Carolyn again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and reliable sitter.

Leaving your animals and home in the care of someone you don't know is always a little scary. Meeting Skye, I knew both would be in great hands! She has a calm and caring demeanor. I received daily updates with tons of detail, pictures and videos. We came home to happy critters and a clean house. She even washed the towels and sheets and remade the bed! I will definitely book with her again!

Ava was phenomenal!! She was Great with all 3 of our animals (Topo, Luna and Midnight) 2cats and 1 dog. She is super sweet and truly is an awesome person, and animal lover ❤️. We will without a doubt use her services again. I HIGHLY recommend her!! Thank you again Ava😊

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Highland Township on Rover is $61.05 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of June 2026, there are 2,210 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Highland Township. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Highland Township walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Highland Township maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Highland Township choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
