“Eleanor was wonderful with my 3 dogs. She sent lots of pictures. The girls were happy and well taken care of. They got plenty of outdoor time and playtime with Eleanor. Would highly recommend Eleanor”

“This is the first time we are bringing a pet sitter home. Hajida did a phenomenal job taking care of Coco. Coco is 17.5 years old and recently lost her sight. Hajida made her feel very comfortable and bonded amazingly with her.”

“I was so fortunate to have found Calli when I needed someone to be gentle and affectionate toward my senior dog and approachable for my younger dog. She tended to Foxy with so much care because of her recent injury and Singha warmed up to her too which surprised me. I will certainly have Cali be their caregiver again. I recommend Calli as a five star sitter.”

About: I've taken care of dogs since I was 7 years old. I grew up with a German Shepherd named Eva, the love of my life. While a sophomore in high school, I began working at a dog daycare called Pups@Play Montclair. That job gave me invaluable knowledge of dog behavior and relationship dynamics. I learned the intricacies of their behavior, body language, personality, whether they were high energy or low energy, active or reactive, etc. I used that to diffuse many doggy disputes. I worked with and managed 50+ dogs everyday. Daschunds, puppies, mutts, great danes, shepherds, samoyeds, bulldogs, pitbulls, hairless, everything. I can handle any dog I meet. You can trust me to handle your dog with care, happiness, love, understanding, and patience. I am fit and ready to play! Dogs hold such a special place in my heart and I can't wait to meet yours! I am a student at Rutgers New Brunswick and my schedule currently has me free after 5pm on weekdays and any time after 9am on weekends. I can potentially be available if there is a special circumstance but that is by no means a guarantee. I do not currently offer boarding services. If I were to offer boarding, your dog would be comfortable, happy, hydrated, and well-fed. Have a great day, talk to you soon!
“My wife and I just had Jennifer stay with our dog for the very first time …. it was perfect! Wylie and Jennifer got along great! Jennifer made him feel loved and comfortable. Wylie has a strong attachment to my wife, but Jennifer won him over. While the Rover website is great and easy to work with, Jennifer walked us through the process, explained what she could do and made us feel good about leaving Wylie in the hands of a complete stranger (a stranger no more). We were equally impressed with how well Jennifer treated our home. We were gone overnight and Jennifer stayed with Wylie in our home. There is no question that I very highly recommend Jennifer to anyone who is the least bit nervous about having a pet-sitter. We plan on using her every chance we get!”
“I cannot recommend Tiaesha enough. She is great with both my dog and cat, and she keeps me updated every step of the way. I feel very lucky to have found her and cannot wait to use her in the future.”

“Celestine was reliable, communicative, and kept me updated with photos and messages throughout the stay, which gave me great peace of mind! I came home to a happy, well-cared-for cat and a tidy apartment. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter!!”

“Kortni was amazing! She mentioned not being as comfortable with cats compared to dogs, but she took such great care of our very skittish cats. One of them became her close buddy and kept close tabs on the other one who was very elusive. She shared many pictures and provided daily updates of the cats. We saw them today and they look healthy and happy.”

“Excellent pet sitter! Quincy stayed in our home and took great care of our cats. He was attentive to our instructions, and our cats were happy at home with him. Highly recommend Quincy for your pet care needs!”

“Allison was AMAZING with both our boys, Milo and Tyson. She kept us updated throughout the day with pictures and went above and beyond by cleaning up the house before she left. Left us a great hand written note recapping her stay with them which was a nice touch as well. We highly recommend using her to watch your pets! Thanks again!!!”

“Kim was a lifesaver! We needed a sitter last minute for our pups as we were traveling to Italy. She wrote down notes for each of the puppies during the house visit and was confident the care she would provide them. She was attentive to their and our needs. She kept us informed throughout our trip and was able to understand their personalities. The pups gravitated towards her and felt comfortable. I would definitely reach out to her again!”

About: Hi I’m Angelica, i’ve owned so many dogs throughout my life from tiny dogs to big dogs, I currently have two of my own dogs and walk them every day as is, I would love to go on walks with other dogs as well and get some exorcise in with your dogs as well! I adore all sorts of animals! I’m a high school senior, so I get out of school anywhere from 12-1 which is early, so anytime after that I can come walk dogs or take care of cats or whatever is needed of me to do. I do not allow animals in my house but I can come to your house and walk your dog or check on the cat whenever is needed.
“Evgenii was amazing! Our older two dogs were well cared for. We received pics and updates which made us happy! Our house was spotless when we returned! Couldn’t have chosen a better dog sitter. Highly recommend him and will be using him again!”

About: I've taken care of dogs (either my own or pet-sitting) for the past 15 years. I have had many friends and family members rely on me to keep their pets fed, walked, played with, and loved while they are out! I also have experience with senior dogs, giving medication etc. My work schedule is fairly flexible, so it's super easy for me to fit pet care into my daily/weekly routines! I keep my home clean and safe for pups to venture around. I will send lots of pictures so you know your pet is happy and well taken care of. I have a fairly flexible full time job where I am able to work from home as needed. Additionally, when I need to be in person it is usually only for a few hours maximum. So I have plenty of time to be playing with and caring for your pups! I live in a very walkable neighborhood with lots of great spots for fur babies to use the bathroom and get their exercise in! I spend a lot of time after initial drop off trying to make your pet as comfortable and relaxed as possible! I'll also send you lots of pictures to alleviate some of the stress of leaving your pup with someone else. I spend a lot of time giving the pets I care for the same love and attention they would receive at home.
“Shiloh was a wonderful relief after a petcare emergency left us to find a replacement sitter while we were away on vacation. Our dog is lovely, but suffers from severe separation anxiety and is stubborn on the leash. She handled him beautifully and I felt at ease with how she talked about him and when she sent pictures of our dog, while we were away. She gave us great tips on how to handle his anxiety. Most of all, I felt like she truly cared for Boomerang like it was her own furbaby. We will definitely ask for Shiloh's help for future pet care needs.”
“Stephen has been amazing with our cat. He took very well care of our cat for 10 days . He understands the instructions very clearly. I would highly recommend him for pet sitting.”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats since I was a child, and love spending time with animals! I also foster cats in my free time and like to volunteer with local shelters! I’m currently in medical school, so this is a part time position for me, helping me to pay for my education and honestly supporting my mental health! I like to provide a calm and stable environment, and take pride in my ability to understand dog/cat body language, which helps me provide appropriate care!

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Highland Park
Many thanks to Yasmine for her wonderful care she share with our dog. We had an odd travel schedule for a family trip and she was very accommodating of our plans and went above and beyond to help our dog feel comfortable and well cared for across the travel schedule. We also appreciated that Yasmine stayed in great communication with us throughout the travels. She was also a great house sitter! We highly recommend Yasmine as a thoughtful, experienced, and respectful dog and house sitter!

Celestine was reliable, communicative, and kept me updated with photos and messages throughout the stay, which gave me great peace of mind! I came home to a happy, well-cared-for cat and a tidy apartment. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter!!

Sarah is an incredible pet sitter!! She watched our dog and cat for 10 days over the holidays. She made sure our pup got lots of exercise and even took her on errands with her to avoid leaving her alone (she has separation anxiety). Sarah also won over our cat who typically isn’t very nice lol. Highly recommend booking Sarah to watch your pets!

JLyne was amazing! She came to sit my elderly cat Papi while I was out of town for an important event. I was able to focus on my event because she was able to take care of him so well. She sent me updates and answered all of my questions. She sent pics as well. To top it all off, it was even her birthday and she still watched him. Thank you so much JLyne. I would definitely recommend her! 😻😻😻

Nicole was absolutely great with our dog while we were on vacation. Upon meeting Nicole we knew she was going to be a great fit for us. Our dog ran right up to her and was so happy to meet her - dogs just seem to know good people 😊. Thanks to Nicole, we were able to enjoy our vacation as we knew our fur baby was in good hands. Each day ended with Nicole sending us amazing pictures and videos. This was our first time using a sitter and it was a wonderful experience. We highly recommend Nicole and will definitely be booking her in the future.

I couldn’t recommend Frances enough. She is a great communicator. She made sure she understood all the needs of my dog before I left for my trip. She contacted me when she had a question about my dog’s behavior. All of these things helped me to relax and enjoy my time away knowing my dog was in super capable hands!

FAQs for House Sitting - Highland Park
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Highland Park on Rover is $42.8 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 13,065 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Highland Park. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Highland Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Highland Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Highland Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Highland Park. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
