Honestly one of THE best sitters. So patient and listened to everything I said. I was a little worried about leaving Ollie with someone who he doesn’t know but Hadija calmed ALL my nerves and was the best sitter I could’ve asked for. Sent me pictures, which I really appreciate it!!! Will book again!

I was so fortunate to have found Calli when I needed someone to be gentle and affectionate toward my senior dog and approachable for my younger dog. She tended to Foxy with so much care because of her recent injury and Singha warmed up to her too which surprised me. I will certainly have Cali be their caregiver again. I recommend Calli as a five star sitter.

Jennifer was amazing at taking care of our babies and home while we left town for a week to visit family! They usually take awhile to warm up to people but they seemed to adjust fine and happily with her company which made me feel so relieved!! I was so happy with all of the pictures and updates since it was our first time leaving them for such a long trip, we would definitely love to have her come back and visit Charlie & Henry again :)

About: I have over 6 years of hands-on experience caring for a 60 lb Labrador Retriever, whom I raised from puppyhood. During that time, I learned how to understand dog behavior, body language, exercise needs, and daily routines at every stage of life. I also have experience caring for cats and understand that every pet has its own unique personality. I take the time to build trust, whether a pet is playful, shy, or needs extra patience. Although I no longer have my Labrador, the experience gave me a strong foundation in responsible pet care. I treat every pet as if they were my own, following each owner’s instructions carefully to ensure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I’m a faculty at Rutgers, and most of my teaching is online, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to spend a lot of time at home. This makes it easy for me to provide pets with regular attention, potty breaks, walks, playtime, and companionship throughout the day. I plan my schedule to ensure every pet in my care receives consistent supervision and the care they need. I live in a clean, pet-friendly two-bedroom apartment near downtown New Brunswick. I make sure pets have a safe, comfortable, and calm environment where they can relax and feel at home. I follow each pet’s regular routine, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and any special instructions provided by the owner. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I respect their space and maintain the pet’s normal routine to help reduce stress. I provide plenty of attention, exercise, affection, and regular updates with photos so owners can feel confident that their pets are safe and well cared for.

About: I grew up taking care of my childhood dog, and then I extended that experience in the Rutgers University Companion Animal Club assisting in the public access training of future service dogs. I also spent a year as a kennel technician in Old Bridge, NJ taking care of puppies & preparing them for their forever homes. I am very flexible, I usually work in New Brunswick Monday-Friday from 9-4:30pm, but I can do my work from home if needed which helps a lot. I will discuss individual preferences with clients to meet their desires. I live very close to a big park and am able to take walks whenever.

Nicole is amazing! I left my two shepherds with her while I was away for a few days and I'm so grateful for the love and attention she showed them. She was in constant communication and sent me lots of photos during my time away. My female dog injured her paw right before I left and I wasn't sure if she needed to see a vet. Nicole was more than willing to go the extra mile and take her to the vet if that's what I needed. On a more hilarious note, thank you Nicole for putting up with the chaos of the first day. My garage door wouldn't open to let her in while I was getting ready to get on a plane. Not only was she patient about it but also very understanding. Thank you so much Nicole for taking such great care of them. We look forward to working with you again in September!

About: I've taken care of dogs (either my own or pet-sitting) for the past 15 years. I have had many friends and family members rely on me to keep their pets fed, walked, played with, and loved while they are out! I also have experience with senior dogs, giving medication etc. My work schedule is fairly flexible, so it's super easy for me to fit pet care into my daily/weekly routines! I keep my home clean and safe for pups to venture around. I will send lots of pictures so you know your pet is happy and well taken care of. I have a fairly flexible full time job where I am able to work from home as needed. Additionally, when I need to be in person it is usually only for a few hours maximum. So I have plenty of time to be playing with and caring for your pups! I live in a very walkable neighborhood with lots of great spots for fur babies to use the bathroom and get their exercise in! I spend a lot of time after initial drop off trying to make your pet as comfortable and relaxed as possible! I'll also send you lots of pictures to alleviate some of the stress of leaving your pup with someone else. I spend a lot of time giving the pets I care for the same love and attention they would receive at home.

About: Hi I’m Angelica, i’ve owned so many dogs throughout my life from tiny dogs to big dogs, I currently have two of my own dogs and walk them every day as is, I would love to go on walks with other dogs as well and get some exorcise in with your dogs as well! I adore all sorts of animals! I’m a high school senior, so I get out of school anywhere from 12-1 which is early, so anytime after that I can come walk dogs or take care of cats or whatever is needed of me to do. I do not allow animals in my house but I can come to your house and walk your dog or check on the cat whenever is needed.

About: With experience of caring of dogs for almost my whole life I have understood animal behavior, understanding their physical needs of being outside, and their time for cuddles on the couch. I love animals of all sizes and quantity. I currently have three of them myself and love them with my whole heart. That same passion goes into my work ethic as well when with others doggos! Pet care works into my early morning routine and as a student I keep myself on a tight schedule. Your pets routines are just as important as mine. I take great consideration into the dogs I care for. I will ensure a environment free of any harm including medications that are far from reach for dogs, food put away so they do not get sick and inspect what they are eating as well.

About: Hi, I'm Krystina! I am a 30-year-old passionate pet lover with over 10 years of experience caring for both dogs and cats. Animals aren't just a job for me—they are a central part of my life. As a dedicated pet parent myself, I understand how deeply we love our fur babies and how important it is to find someone you can completely trust when you're away. Whether your pet is staying in your home, joining me for a quick afternoon stroll, or settling in for an extended stay while you travel, they will be treated exactly like a member of my own family. I pride myself on providing the same level of love, attention, and spoiling that they get from you! Flexible schedule for dog walking and house sitting! I can adapt to your pet’s needs and keep them happy, active, and comfortable while you're away! 🐾🐶🐱🐾 I provide safe, reliable, and loving care in your pet’s own home environment. About: Hi, besides the obvious of loving animals, I have had first hand raising them growing up, and later I worked and lived on a farm tending for both the farm (~100 sheep, horses, goats, llamas, chicken) and the house animals (4 dogs, and a cat) Student looking for part time gigs, I’m pretty flexible with short-notice/on-call availability throughout the whole week. I love animals and have plenty of experience so this opportunity would be the perfect coupling! I’m great at following instructions (almost to a fault!) so I will do my best to take the best care of your furry family. Little bit about me: I’m a student, part time barista, I love nature and photography, taking walks and hiking, farmer’s markets, keeping a nice and tidy environment, cafes and hanging out with friends.

I left detailed instructions and received pics of my pooch every day. No problems, no questions, smooth as silk. Happy dog. House in order. What could be better. We had a wonderful experience! Miryam cared for our two Yorkies in our home for six hours and was attentive, responsible, and genuinely caring. She followed all of our care instructions, including feeding, walks, playtime, and potty breaks. Our 6-year-old Yorkie has some separation anxiety and was a little nervous after we left, but she was patient, gave him the time he needed to warm up, and made sure he was comfortable. She also did a great job keeping up with our energetic 1-year-old Yorkie, making sure he had frequent potty breaks and plenty of active play. Her attention to detail and communication gave us peace of mind, and it was clear our dogs were well cared for. We would absolutely recommend her and would happily book her again!

FAQs for House Sitting - Highland Park

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Highland Park on Rover is $42.8 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 13,122 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Highland Park. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Highland Park walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Highland Park maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Highland Park choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Highland Park. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
