“Amber and family were amazing sitters for Vesta. Vesta came back happy and amber sent many pictures to show the wonderful time she was having. They have a huge property and vesta loves being outside so our dog had the time of her life. I felt completely comfortable knowing that she was in good hands. Would highly recommend alAmber to watch your dog and I look forward to booking with them again.”

“Marilyn did an amazing job with my dog. She kept me updated through out the entire time. If you are looking for someone who will treat your pet like their own look no further. She treated my dog so well, I was scared he wouldn’t want to come home. She is wonderful and will make sure your fur baby is well taken care of.”

“Karla was an excellent host for my dog Goose! She was very responsive and provided pictures and videos each day she watched him. She was also very flexible when I unexpectedly had to ask for another day of hosting. Overall very satisfied!”

“This was my first time using Rover (boarding) and Randy took such great care of Marnie! I work late hours, but he was very accommodating and responsive. He sent photos of her so I was assured she was doing great. I would definitely trust Randy again with Marnie!”

“Teresa was kind and accommodating, especially with our last minute request for a sitter! She took great care of our furbaby as evidenced by the happy demeanor of the regular photo updates and status. Our furbaby was instantly at ease with Teresa and we could tell that she would be treated just like she was her own. Highly recommend Teresa! 5 🐾 rating!”

“Erin did a wonderful job watching Islay while we were out of town! I appreciated regular updates and Islay seemed very happy and well taken care of. Erin was also flexible and helpful when our flights got delayed! We would definitely book with Erin again in the future.”

About: I have a natural way of earning the trust of shy, sensitive pets. I cared for a rescue cat who was so fearful and withdrawn that her owner was considering rehoming her. With patience, love, and one-on-one attention, she gradually opened up—and today, she follows me everywhere and happily seeks me out! I’ve also cared for a rescue dog, providing walks, companionship, and reassurance while his owner was away. My greatest strength is creating a calm, loving environment where pets feel safe, understood, and free to be themselves. My schedule is very flexible, with Tuesdays being my main workday. As a semi-retired professional, I have plenty of time to give your pet the attention, companionship, and care they deserve. I live in a quiet, peaceful townhouse community with very little traffic and no children or pets of my own. It’s a calm, safe environment where your pet can relax, feel at home, and receive plenty of one-on-one attention.
“Julia did an amazing job caring for our dog, Nova! She sent lots of pictures and was accommodating when we needed an extra day due to a delayed flight. Our dog is anxious and Julia did everything she could to make her comfortable and calm. I highly recommend Julia and would love to have her watch our dog again!”

“Kate & her family have now several times hosted our pup Willow and we are so thankful for their hospitality and care! Kate’s school-age daughters are so responsible and proactive in their involvement (helped provide a once-daily medication to our pup) and also have fun teaching tricks! We are so lucky to have found Kate in the area.”

“Isa was wonderful! She took excellent care of our dog, took her on long nature walks, and provided a nice fenced yard for her. We will absolutely return to her if we need another sitter!”

“We were so lucky to have Cathy! Our dog is a bit nervous about new situations, so we told Cathy that it would take a couple days before she would warm up. Three hours later, Cathy sent us a picture of her cuddled up on the couch. Our pup clearly felt right at home and our vacation was stress-free as a result. Thank you Cathy!”

“Paris did a wonderful job watching my Senior dachshund for a week. It was my pet’s first time staying with someone who she didn’t know. I was really nervous about leaving her but my pet did great. Paris sent pictures and messages every day about what had happened during that day. My pet seemed to settle in well and had a great stay. I definitely will contact Paris again if I need to board my little Doxie again.”

“Shawn and Chuck were fabulous! They had a great setup at their home so it was easy to see Oliver fitting in their groove. We got multiple pictures and videos everyday and great communication before and during. I HIGHLY recommend them!”

“They were great! Very responsive and kind. When I dropped our dog off, I instantly felt like he was in good hands. I received pictures/video every day and they even worked on his commands with him (pup in training still). Highly recommend.”

“We’re so grateful for Aubrey and her family spending time with our pup! She was very responsive, gave great updates with photos, and even was accommodating to adjust the schedule of the stay when we needed to extend it by a day. We would absolutely book with her again!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Heather Glen
Tracy is always our first choice to watch our pups when we go out of town! She’s reliable, communicative, and quick to respond. She keeps us up to date on the pups without spamming us either and knows just what to do whenever anything comes up. Plus the dogs just love snuggling with her!

Katrin did a really amazing job taking care of my dog, Rosie. I am very anxious when I leave her with someone else and I was immediately at ease and calm and confident that she was getting good care. Katrin sent many pictures and was clearly lavishing such good love on my dog. I recommend her without reservations.

Teresa and Jim were incredible! They took such great care of our puppy Willow. This was our first time leaving Willow with sitters and they calmed all our nerves the second we met them. They kept us updated with pictures and info on how Willow was doing the entire weekend while we were away. It was also awesome to know that Teresa and Jim only take 1 dog at a time so you know your dog is getting all the attention and care it needs. I will 100% be reaching back out to Teresa and Jim in the future.

Randy has been wonderful with Maya and provides exceptional care for her special needs. Because Maya has a disability and can't use her back legs, she requires bladder expression, physical therapy, and extra attention. Randy handles all of her care with compassion and patience. He even takes her out for walks in a stroller so she can enjoy getting outside, and he always sends photos and updates, which gives me great peace of mind. I highly recommend Randy to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and attentive pet sitter, especially for pets with special needs.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Heather Glen home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Heather Glen.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Heather Glen sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
