“Alexis is great. Our rescue dog has some anxiety issues but Alexis was very understanding, flexible, and communicative. As a bonus, her dog Addy seems to have the right energy to put our nervous dog a bit more at ease. I would certainly recommend her, I know we will be booking with Alexis again :).”

About: I’ve always loved caring for dogs, often helping neighbors and friends with their dogs. And I look after my grandpup Whiskey, a husky, whenever my son travels. Your pet will enjoy a calm, steady routine while staying with me. I work full‑time from home, so they’ll have company throughout the day and plenty of attention. We’ll follow their usual schedule — walks, meals, potty breaks, and any comfort habits they rely on. Evenings are relaxed and cozy with playtime and snuggles. You’ll receive updates and photos so you always know how your pet is doing. For cats: They settle in easily here and enjoy a quiet, cozy space with lots of gentle attention. Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I keep a steady routine throughout the day so pets know what to expect and feel secure while they’re with me. I live in a quiet, comfortable home that’s very pet‑friendly and easy for animals to settle into. Since I work from home, your pet will have company throughout the day and won’t be left alone for long stretches. Supervised outdoor time: I don’t have a fenced yard, so all outdoor time is on‑leash and supervised. I’m mindful of other dogs we may meet on walks and keep interactions calm and controlled. Safe indoor environment: Inside, pets can relax, nap, and settle in a pet‑friendly space where I’m always nearby. At times, my grandkitty Kitana may be here, and she’s calm, gentle, and used to sharing space with visiting pets. Communication: You’ll receive updates and photos so you always know how your pet is doing. If anything seems off — changes in appetite, behavior, or comfort — I’ll let you know right away.

“Grace was very happy staying with Connie and her husband over the Christmas holiday. She made a friend with another dog also being home boarded that week and the two, very high energy pups, seemed to really enjoy running around in their fenced in yard. Grace was bit by another dog the morning before we had to drop her off. Connie was very understanding with the special circumstances around cleaning the area with hydrogel we left with her. Very sweet couple. I felt very comfortable leaving Grace with them.”

She kept in touch with us daily, sending sweet updates and adorable pictures that gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. It was clear Remy was happy, healthy, and in loving hands. “Jess, Danny, their daughters and pets were fantastic with Opal! They gave me daily updates about how she was integrating into their household and it made me feel at ease to know she was being well loved while I was away. They have kids, a dog and cats. Opal had never spent any time with cats or children and she did great with them! I’m so glad she had such an enriching experience as I want for her to be a well socialized dog. I’m a proud dog mom!! Their updates included all the details a pet owner would want to know & we’re really heart warming to receive. Opal enjoyed being loved on by their sweet daughters, rough housing with their dog and cuddling with their cat. She truly was a part of the family. I would love to use their services again because I know she had a really great time and felt right at home! Thank you Jess and Danny!”

About: Hey! I'm Sadie. I've lived in West Asheville for about 4 years now. I'm a former overnight pet sitter and dog trainer/handler at Evolutionary K9 in North GA. As well as a former Kennel Tech at a Daycare/Boarding & Grooming spot in Black Mountain. I have taken classes on Dog Cognition + Emotion through Duke University. I love animals and have my own 9 year old Siberian Husky who I spend most of my time with when I'm not working. I've been in animal care this for roughly 10 years. I have taken care of young dogs, senior dogs, dogs/cats with special needs, goats, snakes etc and would love to give your babe the care they need when you're away. I'm typically available for drop by walks, visits, boarding and general care throughout the week and weekends dependent on my work schedule. Thanks and look forward to meeting you and your pet! I have my own pup at home so I do not do overnight stays but I do boarding and I am flexible throughout the week/weekends dependent on my work schedule. I would be happy to drop by and feed, walk and/or play with your pets while you're at work, etc. (My husky is an escape artist so I am extremely careful and mindful when walking anyone's pets!)

Wow! We lucked out choosing Emily as a sitter! She was fantastic. We needed a sitter at the last minute and Emily responded right away. We enjoyed meeting her and her sweet family. Our pup walked right in the door without a look back, like she was home. It was a blessing to be able to leave feeling like our pup was going to be fine. Emily sent messages and pics to reassure us that our old girl was settling in that evening and doing well the next morning. If we come back to this area again I would definitely ask for Emily. I’d highly recommend her to anyone. Thanks so much!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.

Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.

During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Hazelwood home-away-from-home, packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
  • Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Hazelwood.

<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.

You and your Hazelwood sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in NC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
