“James did a great job with Bailey while I was out of town. She had a big fenced in yard and other dogs to play with and I can tell when I picked her up that she had a great time. I will definitely use him again.”

“Alexis did a great job watching my dog Elroy for 3.5 days while we were away. She sent us updates and photos and let us know how he was getting along with the other dogs she was watching. I felt very comfortable leaving my baby with her and he came back tired and happy. I’ll definitely be returning next time I need someone.”
“Erin took great care of our sweet dog, Lily. She was easy to communicate with, replied quickly, and sent pictures to let us know how much fun Lily was having playing in the river with Erin. I will be using her again, soon, and would highly recommend her to anyone!”
“Reily had such a great time with Connie and Ron, I don’t think she wanted to come home. We enjoyed the pictures we received through out the week. Highly recommend”

“Terri was amazing with our very active pup. She sent daily pictures and updates while we were away he was clean and healthy when we pick him up. They are great and loving people and I highly recommend them!!”

“Kathleen was absolutely wonderful with our dog, Remy! From the moment we connected, she was attentive, patient, caring, and kind. She kept in touch with us daily, sending sweet updates and adorable pictures that gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. It was clear Remy was happy, healthy, and in loving hands. Kathleen went above and beyond by meeting me at a convenient halfway point between our homes, making the entire process so easy and stress-free. She was a delight to work with—professional, thoughtful, and genuinely passionate about caring for animals. We will absolutely be using her again, without question. Highly recommend Kathleen to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate dog sitter!”

“I cannot begin to say enough about the care which Lacie provided for our Emma. She is a 16 year-old Havanese and has issues such as being blind and deaf. She also has some severe arthritis. Lacie took excellent care of her needs, took her outside multitudes daily to enjoy the sun and provided us with daily photos of how well she got along.Lacie provided excellent care and Emma and seem to be so happy. I know it was a lot of extra work because of her special needs, but Lacey was fantastic. I highly recommend Lacie!!!”

“Toby had a great weekend with Ali and Penny. Ali took great care of him, gave frequent updates, and went above and beyond in her flexibility and taking care of our boy. Will definitely be asking her to watch Toby again next time I need a sitter.”

“Joseph and Andrea were so sweet and attentive the entire time Skyler visited! I received daily updates with pictures! They will definitely be my first choice when boarding my pup!”

“Carlina did a great job with our dog, Maddy. She checked in and sent pics. I really appreciated that it was just our dog and Carolina’s dog there - I think too many make it a stressful stay. Maddy said she was a 10/10, bed and treats were great.”

“Hope and her family are animal lovers and it shows. They were flexible about drop off and pickup times and weren't offended when I asked for a meet and greet before leaving our dog.”

“Autumn was a pleasure to deal with and was really accommodating with our drop off/collection timings which changed. She was friendly and had a genuine interest in Hudson and enjoyed their time together. Thank you for taking such good care of him for us.”

About: Hello! My Name is Justin Gardner. I have resided on a large tract of pristine farm land located 20 miles north of Asheville, sitting perfectly between Weaverville and Marshall. For anyone looking to give their dog a true country getaway, this is a paradise. If your pup doesn't always get the chance to fully experience nature, our wide-open spaces to explore and a fully fenced-off yard offer the ultimate safe freedom. Dogs have been a central part of my life since early childhood, and that lifelong passion continues today with our own beloved resident dogs. We understand dog behavior, respect their individual routines, and treat every guest like a member of the family. Whether your dog loves to run wide-open spaces or just wants to sniff the mountain air and lounge on the porch, they will find their perfect rhythm here. Working primarily from home allows me to provide attentive, full-time care and regular outdoor exercise. I can host overnight (Short or Long term) boarding seamlessly as long as owners provide their dog's personal items and necessary accommodations, allowing your pup to enjoy a safe, country retreat with all the comforts of home. Safety and socialization go hand-in-hand here. My dog Rocco, a friendly Catahoula Leopard Hound, has six years of excellent experience interacting with other dogs and is always eager to welcome new playmates. Playtime in our fully fenced yard is entirely supervised, and I can easily crate your dog for meals or bedtime to ensure a structured, safe stay.
About: Hey! I'm Sadie. I've lived in West Asheville for about 4 years now. I'm a former overnight pet sitter and dog trainer/handler at Evolutionary K9 in North GA. As well as a former Kennel Tech at a Daycare/Boarding & Grooming spot in Black Mountain. I have taken classes on Dog Cognition + Emotion through Duke University. I love animals and have my own 9 year old Siberian Husky who I spend most of my time with when I'm not working. I've been in animal care this for roughly 10 years. I have taken care of young dogs, senior dogs, dogs/cats with special needs, goats, snakes etc and would love to give your babe the care they need when you're away. I'm typically available for drop by walks, visits, boarding and general care throughout the week and weekends dependent on my work schedule. Thanks and look forward to meeting you and your pet! I have my own pup at home so I do not do overnight stays but I do boarding and I am flexible throughout the week/weekends dependent on my work schedule. I would be happy to drop by and feed, walk and/or play with your pets while you're at work, etc. (My husky is an escape artist so I am extremely careful and mindful when walking anyone's pets!)
About: I currently am working as an ER veterinary nurse. Previously, I was a nurse at a general practice hospital for 6 years, and prior to that, worked at an additional hospital as well as a pet store with exotics. I am more than comfortable administering any method of medication, and taking care of your medical needs, special needs, or senior fur babies. I own two friendly dogs, two sassy cats, and a baby ball python myself- variety is the spice of life. If you’re looking for a medically experienced caretaker for your kids, I’m your gal! *also have grooming experience with medical needs animals I just moved to the Asheville area, so Im excited to explore around. I do work as a ER veterinary nurse in the area, but I still plan on working Rover into my schedule! I have two friendly dogs, who will play with dogs that want to play, ignore the ones who don’t, and will be gentle with the young and little ones. I do not have a yard, but I am very active and used to taking my large dogs for >3-4 mile walks daily.

“Kristina cared for my pup like she was her own. She sent updates, pictures and videos and gave the best review of my girl when we said goodbye. I will definitely be using Kristina again!!!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Iron Duff home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Iron Duff.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Iron Duff sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
