“Fantastic! John was great with communication before and throughout Manny’s stay. Made sure I was comfortable leaving my baby boy and sent me photos every day. Manny seemed right at home with him, and I was at ease. Thank you so much for caring for my boy!”

“Such a wonderful service provided with timely updates including pictures. I felt very comfortable leaving the kitties with her. I will definitely use her service again if I need to board Emma and Walley.”

“Samantha was great! Extremely responsive and took care of our pup like it was her own! She sent photos during our dog’s stay which we loved seeing! It looked like our pup had a great time! We definitely recommend her to anyone who needs her pup taken care of.”

“Loved, loved Jody, her home, and yard! Our pup Rakas had a blast! Rakas loved running around the fenced yards, she was very interested in the goats and chickens. Jody was amazing— sending videos and photos of Rakas playing and photos of her sleeping after a fun day of play. :-). Will definitely bring Rakas to Jody again. Really felt our pup was well cared for and given lots of attention!”

“Shannon and her family are the best. Beau loves going there. He goes a smile on his face and is happy when we pick him up. I would highly recommend Shannon. Thank you.”

“They looked like they had a great time! Was given plenty of attention and treats. Did not appear overly hungry or thirsty when we brought them back home telling me they were given plenty of food and water. Liked that Lydia has a fenced in back yard and appreciated the daily picture updates and video without me having to ask first. Was also able to get us in last minute and was very responsive. Would highly recommend!”

“Shawn was wonderful! She kept me updated throughout the entire stay. My pups were very comfortable and happy during their stay. I would choose Shawn every time to watch my pups, they had an amazing time! I didn’t have to worry about my dogs once while they were in Shawn’s care!”

“Emily did an amazing job taking care of our dog Gamora. She had so much fun playing with the other dogs in Emily's care. We boarded Gamora with Emily for a week and we definitely recommend her! She is very sweet and always takes good care of our girl and updated us everyday with plenty of cute pictures!”

“Marah always does an excellent job with our dog Lilly! Whenever we drop off Lilly she is always excited! When we pick her up, Marah always provides details about the stay, and it's clear she pays close attention to the dogs! Our dog is very playful and always comes home happy but exhausted. Marah is always the first person we ask whenever we need someone to watch our dog!”

“Both of our dogs loved Ashley and her family instantly! She and her family were so sweet, and we felt completely comfortable leaving them in her care! She was great about sending pictures and keeping me updated about how they were doing! We will definitely use her again and highly recommend her!”

“Mac is very nice and Gemma loved being there and playing with her dog. She sent regular check ups with us and sending pictures. Gemma is actually missing her best friend!!! She is either tired or missing her friend due to she has been sleeping alot. I will definitely bring Gemma back. She has very nice and quite place for any dog to play.”

“Kim always takes such great care of Charlie. I get regular updates and pictures that let me know he’s safe and having a blast while I’m away for work. He loved the new space and playing with friends again. I love having a sitter I can trust with my baby!”

“Our Golden, Eli, received, EXCELLENT care and attention ~ and Katie kept us updated daily, including photos, which kept us from worrying and assured us he was happy and doing well!!!”

“Myrtle clearly had a great time with Erin and Matthew. She got some good play time and got to snuggle with them (her favorite activity). We appreciate the care and kindness to Myrtle that allows us to travel when we can't take her.”

About: I began volunteering at my local animal shelter at the age of 9 and have been caring for animals ever since. I have 20 years experience pet sitting for neighbors and I have my own 6 year old pitbull, Cleo, so I’m no stranger to energetic dogs. I’m a teacher, so my summers give me full flexibility to care for your animals! I love to walk dogs on local greenways and trails. SCHOOL YEAR UPDATE: I’m still happy to provide boarding, walking, and drop in visits outside of school hours. I am unable to be home or care for pets from 7am-3pm each day. If your dog can be left for 8 hours, boarding continues to be available during the school year. I have a fenced in backyard where your dog can play. If they like to play with a buddy, my dog will be their best friend!
“They really helped us out, last minute to the rescue! We appreciated the daily updates and pictures very much. ❤️ we would completely recommend to others & use again. Thanks again!”

“David Is calm and caring and took great care of Watson. I don’t often leave Watson but when I do he usually comes home unnerved. That was not the case this time. Thank you!”

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
