“Mackenzie successfully hung out with my Sweet & SOUR cat over night. She sent several updates via pictures and videos! 10/10 recommend her to come love on your animals!”

About: I have always loved all types of animals. My family has bred, trained, and shown multiple different breeds of dogs. I’m very good and training all different breeds and well known to have the best behaved dogs. If I had it my way I would have a ranch full of all different types of animals. I’m very gentle and normally can read dogs and go at their pace for training or care. I love to walk dogs and play with cats. I no longer have a pet of my own, but wanna fill that void by watching over you alls. I’m pretty open and love to just spend time with animals. I have flexible schedule and can work remotely right now. I can focus on each animals individual timely needs. I’m a pretty ocd individual and like to keep things tidy and clean. I start the day off with walk then feeding animals. Play throughout the day. Afternoon walks and then dinner and more play time. Depending on animal they normally can sleep with me as well.
“Stephanie did a wonderful job watching our girls for a long weekend. Both of my dogs were very relaxed and warmed up to Stephanie immediately so I knew she’d be a great match for them. She is a strong communicator and sent several detailed updates with photos every day. She also took good care of our home. Thanks Stephanie!”

“Ashley was wonderful to my girls. She was extremely loving and cared for them as if they were her own. Ashley communicated daily and sent pictures frequently. When I returned, I knew that she not only took care of my girls, she took care of my home, as well. Thank you, Ashley! I highly recommend her!”

“Andrea was a wonderful dog sitter. My dog did well despite being sick and requiring lots of medications. Andrea took very good care of her and my dog continues to be happy to see her when Andrea comes to walk her. She is on time and very pleasant to work with.”

“Nicole O was amazing!!!! We felt so comfortable from the minute we met her. My dogs loved her and she did an incredible job. Great communication, on time, reliable and so friendly. Highly recommend Nicole!!”
“I cannot recommend Megan highly enough! She was absolutely wonderful with my little girl, Sil, and gave me something that, under the circumstances, was priceless: peace of mind. Just a few days before Megan cared for her, Sil had undergone major surgery to amputate her entire front leg. Needless to say, I was extremely hesitant to leave her alone, especially with someone she had never met. From the very beginning, Megan put my mind at ease. She came over for a meet-and-greet the day before, listened carefully to my concerns and instructions, and made sure she understood exactly what Sil needed. What impressed me most was how genuinely caring, attentive, and dependable Megan was. She followed my instructions perfectly, treated Sil with the kindness and attention she deserved, and made an incredibly stressful situation so much easier. There’s a big difference between finding someone who will watch your dog and finding someone you can truly trust with a member of your family. Megan is the latter. I’m genuinely grateful to have found her and would trust Megan with Sil again without a moment’s hesitation. I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for someone reliable, compassionate, and truly dedicated to the animals in her care. Thank you, Megan, for taking such wonderful care of my little girl!”

“Ella was phenomenal - took amazing care of our two pups, stayed in regular communication / sent lots of fun update pics, and house was immaculate upon our return. Thank you - look forward to having her return!!”

“Hope has been amazing. She took such great care of my bibble and Rory!!! She’s super reliable and amazing with animals. Will definitely be booking her services again for when we need someone to watch our fur babies 💕💕”

“Clare was awesome! She came by to meet my pup before her overnight stay. During her stay she sent me lots of pics of him, video, and was super communicative. Definitely recommend her and will book with her again in the future!”

About: Hi, I’m Hope! I’m a lifelong animal lover and pet owner with experience caring for cats, dogs, rodents, fish, reptiles, and pets with unique needs. I’ve pet sat on and off for many years for family friends and neighbors, and I also worked at a science museum where I assisted with the handling and care of reptiles and other animals. I love getting to know each pet’s personality, routine, and little quirks, whether that means extra playtime, patience with a shy animal, or carefully following specific feeding and care instructions. I currently have a 3-year-old tuxedo cat named Soup Du Jour, who is wonderfully spoiled and has some medical needs, including oral medication every other day, allergies, stomach issues, and dietary restrictions. Because of her, I’m very comfortable with medication routines, special diets, chronic conditions, and paying close attention to changes in behavior or health. I’m also always happy to learn any specific care skills your pet may need. I love getting to know each pet’s individual personality and quirks. Whether that means playing tag for thirty minutes, repeating the one specific toy movement they’ve decided is The Best Thing Ever, or simply giving them space and patience, I’m happy to adapt to what makes them feel safe and comfortable. I know pets can be funny, particular, and wonderfully odd, especially when their people are away, so I do my best to keep their routine familiar and their environment calm. And because I’m Gen Z and practically always have my phone nearby, you can count on plenty of updates, photos, and notes so you still get to see all the cute things they do while you’re gone. At the moment, I’m living at home while on leave from UC Berkeley, so I have a very flexible schedule and will be in the area for the foreseeable future. I’m excited to provide reliable, attentive, and loving care for pets of all kinds! I’m currently living at home while on leave from UC Berkeley, so I have a very flexible and open schedule. I’ll be in the area for the foreseeable future, not just over a short school break, and I’m happy to work with both recurring and occasional pet care needs. Because I’m managing some health conditions, there may be occasional times when I need to plan around appointments or lower-energy days, but I’m very communicative and thoughtful about the commitments I take on. If I agree to care for your pet, you can trust that I’ve made sure I have the time, energy, and availability to give them reliable, attentive care. When caring for pets in a client’s home, my priority is to keep their routine as familiar, calm, and comfortable as possible. I’ll carefully follow all instructions for feeding, medications, walks, litter boxes, playtime, and any household rules, and I’m always happy to learn the specific details that make your pet feel safe. I know animals can be sensitive to changes when their people are away, so I’ll pay close attention to their body language, energy level, appetite, and mood while giving them the kind of care they prefer — whether that means active play, quiet companionship, patience, or extra reassurance. I’ll also treat your home with respect and keep you updated with photos, notes, and anything important I notice during my visit.
“Thomas did a wonderful job watching our pets and house. Our dog had a wonderful time playing with Rosco. Everyone was happy and stress free when we got home. The house was also very clean.”

“I truly cannot recommend Eduardo enough! If I could give him more than five stars, I absolutely would. I’ve actually been a dog sitter myself for many dogs over the years, so I know what I look for in someone caring for mine. This was my first time leaving my 14-year-old and 4-year-old dogs with someone who wasn’t a friend or family member, and I was also traveling internationally, so I was definitely a little nervous going into it. The second I met Eduardo, though, I immediately felt at ease. My dogs took to him right away, and from the very beginning it was obvious how attentive and detail-oriented he is. He asked thoughtful, specific questions about each dog—their routines, personalities, quirks, preferences, and what makes them comfortable. He genuinely cared about keeping their normal schedule and making their time with him feel as familiar and stress-free as possible. Our dogs are relatively easy, but one does have some anxiety, especially during storms, and Eduardo handled him wonderfully. What impressed me most was how well he seemed to understand both of their individual personalities in such a short amount of time. He didn’t just make sure they were fed, walked, and taken care of—he genuinely spent time with them, engaged with them, and made them feel comfortable and loved. And the updates were AMAZING. They were detailed, thoughtful, funny, and came with the best pictures. With every update, I felt like I was getting a little glimpse into their day rather than just receiving the standard “dogs are good!” message. You could genuinely see how happy and relaxed they were in every photo. He picked up on all of their little nuances and personality traits, and somehow managed to capture them perfectly. Even while I was thousands of miles away, I still felt completely connected to what they were doing and how they were feeling. Funny enough, my husband and I were on two separate trips that weekend, and both of our groups had friends who also had dogs at home with pet sitters. We were each sharing Eduardo’s updates with our respective groups, and EVERYONE was blown away by him—especially compared with the updates they were receiving from their own sitters! By the end of the weekend, Eduardo had basically developed a fan club of people who had never even met him. 😂 He was also incredibly respectful of our home. We came back to everything exactly as we had left it and, most importantly, to two very happy, relaxed dogs who clearly had an amazing weekend themselves. There is such a huge difference between finding someone who will simply take care of your pets and finding someone who makes you feel completely comfortable being away from them. Eduardo is absolutely the latter. The peace of mind he gave us was invaluable, and I never once worried about whether our dogs were safe, happy, or getting enough attention. I would recommend Eduardo 100 times over. He is attentive, trustworthy, communicative, responsible, kind, and clearly genuinely loves the animals he cares for. We feel incredibly lucky to have found him and will absolutely be booking him again. Anyone who gets Eduardo as their sitter—and any pet who gets to spend time with him—is incredibly lucky!”

About: Finding someone you trust with your pets is a big deal—whether you need a regular midday walk, a drop-in while you’re away, or someone to settle in with them overnight. My goal is simple: keep your pets happy and comfortable, stick to the routines they know, and give you one less thing to worry about. With 20 years of my own pet care experience, I’ve learned that every animal is different. I pay attention to the little things—their personalities, habits, comfort levels, and all those quirks that make them them. Some want long walks and plenty of playtime, some are happiest curled up beside me on the couch, and others need a little patience and space before deciding we’re friends. I’m happy to meet them wherever they are. You can count on regular updates, plenty of photos, and communication you won’t have to chase down. Whether I’m there for a 30-minute visit or making your home my home base while you’re away, I take the responsibility seriously. That means thoughtful care for your pets, respect for your home, and attention to the little details that help everything run smoothly. At the end of the day, I want you to feel completely comfortable knowing your pets are in good hands—whether I’m part of their everyday routine or caring for them while you’re away. And yes, they’re probably getting a few extra cuddles along the way! I am self employed so I have the ability to give your pet all the time and focus it needs. I routinely walk my dog at the local parks and around the neighborhood multiple times daily and could easily do the same for your puppers or kittens too. I care for my cat daily with lots of play and petting too. I care for pets in their own home, where they’re usually happiest and most comfortable. I follow your instructions closely and take the time to learn what’s normal for your pet—from their routine and personality to the little things that help them feel safe and settled. I’m mindful of doors, gates, leashes, medications, feeding routines, and any special instructions specific to your pet and home. I’m also respectful of the trust that comes with being welcomed into someone’s home. I’ll care for your space thoughtfully, keep you updated along the way, and pay attention to anything that seems out of the ordinary. My goal is for you to feel confident that both your pets and your home are in good hands.

“Kaylee truly went above and beyond for house sitting our two dogs. She even provided enrichment to stimulate their minds and was able to care for our hurt dog with ease. Our house was kept clean and she arrived promptly and timely. Thank you for everything again!”

About: I have a senior German Shepherd, who is still very strong, but unfortunately highly reactive to other dogs (I do it bring him with me to walk to pet sit for others). Because of this, I have experience with patience, but also situational awareness and constantly paying attention while walking him. I understand the needs of all ages of dogs, am experienced with giving medications (to a very picky dog), and truly enjoying seeing pets being happy and well cared for. I am available on weekends, but because I work from home, I can sometimes accommodate short trips during the day. I can provide some evening care with enough advanced notice. I would treat someone’s pet, and their home, with respect, while making their dog feel as comfortable as possible. I will play and be silly with your pet, while being professional and careful with your home.
“Malynda takes great care of my dogs. Appreciate the photo updates, bringing in packages while house sitting, emptying the roomba, trash, bringing her dog for them to play with too.”

Andres did a fantastic job with our 2 dogs! He sent me updates with photos of my dogs a few times a day which was really appreciated! Most importantly, my dogs are very comfortable with Andres! I highly recommend Andre’s and I will be hiring him again for sure!

Kylee was an excellent and reliable pet sitter for my dog Sandy. From the start she was a pleasure to communicate with and answered questions with ease. She has a calming presence and a few minutes spent during the meet and greet assured me of her knowledge and confidence. She spent two days and on night with our pup and was communicative, kind and attentive to my dog’s needs, following our directions to a tee and gave us updates along the way. Having a dog with medical issues can make finding a reliable person scary but Kylee executed the medication administration with ease. Would highly recommend and use Kylee again.

Allie did an amazing job taking care of my dog Marty and my cat Pluto. She kept in contact with me every day as well as sent photos and videos. I was able to enjoy time with my family and not worry about being away from Marty and Pluto. She kept to their daily routine which kept them and myself stress free. I highly recommend Allie to anyone who wants their pets taken care of with love and attention. She truly is a gem!

Susana was absolutely wonderful with Ryder! She took such loving and thoughtful care of him while we were away, and it gave us so much peace of mind knowing he was in such good hands. She was attentive, caring, and truly treated Ryder like her own. We are incredibly grateful and would happily recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and loving to care for their pet.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Glen Ridge walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Glen Ridge maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Glen Ridge choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
